Defensive Entangle

Hugh Neilson

Question

If you've been following certain other threads, you probably know this is coming...

SpiderLad purchases a 5d6, 5 DEF Entangle with Personal Immunity. He then Entangles himself. What is the "by the book" result?

(a) SpiderLad is covered in webs with 5 BOD, 5 DEF. Attacks targetting him are like any other attack on an Entangled character, in that he gets the Entangle as additional defenses until it finally breaks. SpiderLad can move around and attack normally without disturbing the Entangle due to his personal immunity.

(B) SpiderLad is covered in webs with 5 BOD, 5 DEF. Attacks targetting him are like any other attack on an Entangled character, in that he gets the Entangle as additional defenses until it finally breaks. If SpiderLad moves around and/or attacks, he is unhindered by the Entangle due to his personal immunity, however the Entangle stays where it was and falls of his immune body.

© SpiderLad's webs slide off his immune body immediately, as he is personally immune (if you want to enhance your defenses, buy a defense power with apropriate SFX - Link it to the entangle if you want).

(d) Depends on special effects (I hate to consider this answer, because it allows some SFX to get something for nothing, but it's a viable approach).

(e) This will be discussed further in the upcoming Ultimate Entangler - you'll have to wait for that!

Thanks as always.

Re: Defensive Entangle

It means the character is stuck in an Entangle and suffers all the standard effects thereof (he can’t move, is at 0 DCV, is "protected" by it, and so forth) — characters cannot apply Personal Immunity to Entangle with the intention of using it as “armor” or protection for themselves while ignoring its effects.

Alternately, the GM could use your option © if he likes. The point is, no "Entangle armor" without standard Entangle effects.
