Avoiding Mind Scan

A two-part question:

1. Can a character who is in a Darkness field vs. Mental Sense or who is surrounded by an Illusion that affecte the Mental Sense avoid being locked onto by Mind Scan?
   
2. If the answer to question 1 is yes, then what about a character who has already been "locked" with Mind Scan? Can he break out automatically by putting such a Darkness field or Illusion on himself(assuming that the mentalist cannot sense him in a different fashion)?

5ER 355 should answer your question in regards to Darkness; if, after you review that information, you still aren’t sure, please post a follow-up.

 

An Image doesn’t necessarily have the same effect. A character trying to “see through” an Image to the Mental Sense Group has to make a PER Roll to perceive that the Image is false, just like usual. If he succeeds, he realizes that’s really going on and can perceive the target normally with his Mental Senses. If he fails, the believes the Image is real.
