Jhamin
A long time genre crossover product is the Boardgame that verges on RPG. So far, these have all been fantasy (HeroQuest, DungeonQuest, and lately Descent). But my boardgame crew recently came across a new Sci-Fi "RGP as Boardgame" http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/12350 I mainly mention it here because after playing a few sessions I been strongly reminded of why I like the Hero Way of statting characters, but I already know I am stealing all kinds of bits from this game's Spaceship rules. -Power plants that provide enough juice to Steer and Breathe but need engineering rolls to reliably power the weapons. The rolls are easy but how much you make the roll by is all important -Life support capactiy that forces the crew to make hard choices about picking up survivors of other ships -And "Out of Control" level determined by how much crazy stuff the pilot has been doing. The higher this level the harder it is for anybody to succeed on a skill roll while they get bounced around the cabin. -The ability to repair damage in combat and keep systems going, but with a Hull Integrity (Read: Ship's body) that keeps dropping and can't be fixed outside a stardock.
