bigdamnhero
I was looking at scale sizes for various military and civilian aircraft -- partly just to get a feel for how big they should be on the table, and partly in case I come across a model of roughly the right size. Don't know if anyone else will find this useful or not, but since I've already done the work I thought I might as well share it. (Sorry the tabs got lost in the cut&paste.) All sizes are given at 25mm scale, ie - 1/72. Hero scale (2m = 1") is actually 1/78 scale, while 28mm (aka "Heroic 25mm") is closer to 1/68; but either way, they should be close enough for gaming purposes. Note that most of these aircraft have multiple model variations, which may have different dimensions. I tried to pick representative models, but that's obviously subjective; so if you come across different dimensions somewhere, that's my excuse. Still, if anything looks wildly out of range to you, let me know. “Height†typically means from top of the tail (or other highest point) to the ground. “Pax†means passengers, although this number can also vary widely based on model, seating configuration, etc. The most subjective number of all is the “Tons†listing, which assumes a full fuel tank, plus passengers/cargo/armament as appropriate. I tried to use a Loaded Weight figure where I could find one, or else picked a “not quite maxed out†weight, or just swaged it; it’s probably close enough if all you care about it “Can Mighty Man lift a 747?†or not, but if you want more precise numbers, you’ll have to do your own Wikipediaing.
