AIs though Vehicles

Hello Guys,

 

 

I know this isn't the normal kinda thread you get here. But I was trying to find out wheather or not if you buy a AI for a Veh(assuming the V. is buying it as part of the design) if you get another price break? By this I mean, You get the cost of the V. at a 1 for 5 ratio but if the V. buys the AI does it get the AI at a 1 for 5 ratio? Becuase that would mean the character is only paying for the AI at a 1 for 25 ratio and that seems abusive. But on the other hand it is common for war ships to buy vehicles at that value(1 to 25) when they buy them as complimentry fighters or missles.

 

Also I know I could ask Steve this but I know it is out there somewhere and I am just not seeing it. So please my Hero Elite guide my finger of thurth and justice to the spot of knowledge....(in retrospect that seems like a wierd thing to say:nonp: )

There are examples of ship's computer buys in Star Hero--no AIs at a glance, but that doesn't change the purchase rules. You're right, the computer is purchased separately from the rest of the vehicle, so the ratio is 1 for 5 points, not 1 for 25.

EDR is correct, of course; the AI and Vehicle are purchased separately, not the latter purchasing the former. If you want the two to be inexorably linked, though, you could always give INT and EGO to the Vehicle (per TUV pages 15-16).
