Paramount city

Okay, so I found two guys that want to play Champions and I've designed this city that rivals Atlanta. It's on the Eastern Coast. The following are the nuts and bolts. Next Sunday is my first session, and I want to make it good. The PC's are a four armed mutant pirate who (GM controlled) owns a flying ship that he wants to use as a base. Next is a powerarmored PC who is a scientist with cryogenics and 3 basic ice attacks: EB, RKA, Entangle. Next is a typical brick who is a very good looking version of The Thing. The last PC is a mentalist. Each guy is playing 2 characters (so we can have a team going). Anyways, read what I have and if you have any suggestions please give them. The first session will be dealing with Hydra robbing a bank with some super villains hired to be the muscle. They all have open hunteds and reputations since this will be their first appearance in Paramount.

Champions Campaign- Paramount City

Paramount city is a city of 5 million. It is located on the eastern coast seaboard in the state of South Carolina. It rivals the southern city of Atlanta. It has skyscrapers and high rise buildings. It is a very prosperous rich city. It has a major seaport onto the Atlantic. It is 200 miles south of Metropolis and 300 miles south of New York City.

Locations:

Seatown: This is the section of the city that is close to the ocean. It has several ports and docks. There are seafood restaurants, fish markets, warehouses. There is the Brady naval base. There are several immigrants living in this area, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese. The major shippers are B&H, Gromwell, Nakura, and Mallachi. Due to the large numbers of Asians, it is also nicknamed Little Asia.

Downtown: Downtown is where the major businesses like banks, real estate, law firms, etc. This is a place of big money. The rich work in opulent buildings. The hotels are all 5 star. The restaurants are rich.

Hightown: This is where the rich and wealthy live in their luxurious penthouses, apartments, and skyscrapers. Both Downtown and Hightown are in the center of the metropolis.

Lowtown: This is the poor section of the city where crime rates rocket and the poor live and work.

Techtown: This is in the northern part of the city where the leading inventors and industries are. Stark Enterprises leads the industry, followed by Stane International, Hammer Corp, Polytech, Rusk Technologies, Argent & Stone, and STAR Labs. Corporate espionage and high tech thefts are known to happen, so security is tight at each of these places.

Midtown: Located between Lowtown and Hightown is where the middle class live and work in any number of businesses.

AndersonPark: This city park is 2 miles long and two miles wide. Many citizens use the park, but most leave by sundown because the street gangs take over at night.

M Village: There is a significant proportion of mutants in the city who have moved into a section that is on the border of Lowtown.

Theme: Superhero

Dimension: This is an Earth where there is an amalgam of the DC universe and the Marvel Universe, and the Champions universe.

Superheroes: Yes, there is a Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman, along with the Justice League. They operate from an orbital space station. There is a chance that the heroes will meet these legends. There are also the Avengers, based in New York City, with Captain America as the leader. There is also the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

Villains: There are villains that range from mutants, to mystics, to aliens, to machines. They will come from DC and Marvel, and some from the Champions universe.

Here is a list of Villain groups and organizations: The Fearsome Four, The Brotherhood of Evil, The Masters of Evil, The Mutant Liberation Front, The Fatal Five, DEMON (evil mystics), Purity (racist mutant haters), The Crowns of Krim, Hydra, the Secret Society.

PC: Player Characters have the option of playing any type of character they want. They can play an alien just landed, a street vigilante, a magic user, reformed villain, a mutant, a new superhero, a scientist, a dimensional crossing elf, dwarf, drow, or any type of character. What is important is that you have a good working concept and story for your character.

Adventures: The campaigns will not just simply be set in this Earth, but you will travel dimensions, time, and space. You will fight villains, dimensional conquerors, evil mages, mutants, aliens, and the undead.

Re: Paramount city

But all Hydra knows is that there is something of value in the bank, and so raid the safety deposit boxes. Little do they know that locked away in an old box is a book, a book of tremendous power, one whose wards of protection and seals of eternity have just been broken... and what was trapped in the book is finally free.

A chance to chuck something big and nasty at the players, plus you could get DEMON involved if you wanted. Maybe they even engineered the robbery because the protective spells would allow them anywhere near it. Only those without knowledge of what they were taking and opening could break them.

Re: Paramount city

Captain Cade Valdor was a pirate. A pirate without a ship. Those d*mn mutineers stranded him on an uncharted island somewhere in the Triangle. Gar. Fortunately, he had his swords. Gar. So he wasn't without resources. He knew how to hunt. So he set about making himself a proper lean-to and the things that one needed when stranded on an island. In the Triangle. Gar.

A week or two passed, and he was amakin' do with what he had. The raft was coming along. The game was enough to fill his stomach. Fresh water from a stream. Having four arms was plentiful handy when climbing the coconut trees, and one day, when climbing, he caught a glimpse of something in the distance. Gar. It looked like it was the aurora borealis, but smaller. It shimmered purple, blue, and white in the night sky. To get there, he would have to climb a 120 foot mountain of sheer stone. But climbing came natural to Captain Cade. It took the better half of a day to ascend the wall, and he was tired when he reached the top. He found himself on a plateau, with the strange sight hovering in the air about 100 meters. It looked like a rift, a tear in the sky itself, with strange energies flickering about. What surprised him more was the ship that rested before him. He had watched a Star Trek episode or two, so he recognized a basic design. But the thing was made of wood and metal that shined like brass. As he circled the ship, he saw two pylons that glowed with a yellow light on each side. The ship was about 10 meters tall, 8 meters wide, and 16 meters long. With ease he climbed the strange ship and came atop it. The top was flat with a railing surrounding it. At the rear was a portal with intricately carved wood fitted together. His sword didn't budge it. At mid-way, there was a glass dome, but it was covered from the inside by spiderwebs, too thick to see anything. He moved toward the front of the ship where a glass enclosure was covered by dust. Holding on carefully, he lowered himself against the glass, brushing the dust away. Sitting in what looked to be a pilot's seat was a mummified being. The console set around the pilot was at once antiquated and complex. Dozens of glass spheres were set into the wooden console, with brass looking levers, switches, and gears. The pilot's ears were pointed, like a Vulcan, or an elf. Gar.

Captain Cade couldn't find a way into the ship from the top, so he climbed back down to the ground. After hacking away at some vines, he found a door. It seemed to have come off center, and with his sword, he pried it open. Stepping through, he found himself in a storage hold, filled with brass bound wooden chests. Inside the chests he found large yellow crystals finely shaped. There were also chests full of what looked like dried vegetables but none like any he'd ever seen before. From the storage area, he discovered a hall leading to various rooms, obviously living quarters. In each quarter, he found a crystal sphere that projected a hologram of the owner with his family. They all wore a strange symbol around their neck, possibly a holy symbol. The largest door at the front of the ship was locked. He found a lift that carried him to the next level, and there he found a common area with tables and chairs. The next level was a type of cafeteria and a weapons storage filled with ornate swords, shields, and spears. The next level was one that had what looked like stasis tubes, possibly a medical area. There were corpses in each tube, all appeared to have died by trauma from sharp weapons. The fourth level was a workstation of sorts around massive column with inlaid crystals that appeared smashed and melted. The writing that he found was indescipherable. The fifth and top level was the what appeared to be the command level. Seated in chairs at different stations, were more mumified corpses, each wearing a thin circlet on their heads. Cade walked to the front of the ship, where the pilot sat. He stared at the console, unable to make heads or tails out of it. Gar. He took the circlet off the pilot's head and placed it on his own. He instantly felt a dizziying sensation, but the strange markings began to reform before his eyes. Enduring the strange feelings he waited and as the sensations faded, the writing was now in his language. Written on the console appeared to be levers marked lift, speed, pitch, altitude and other controls that made sense to him. He walked back to the other consoles and found that they now were readable. Weapons, Navigation, Sensors, Repair. Each corpse had a circlet that corresponded to the station. Moving back to the pilot's chair, he began to experiment with the controls, and after a few tries, the massive crystal columns behind him sprung to life and began to hum with power. The ship lifted from the ground. Captain Cade had a new ship! Gar!

Using his sea navigation, he plotted a course for the last known path of his former crew. He wondered about an auto-pilot. Suddenly, there was a voice in his head.

"Auto-pilot engaged. Plot course."

"Who is this?" he thought.

"I am Rapha. Plot course."

"Miami."

"Location unknown. Clarify."

"Of course it's unknown! Gar! I need a compass!" One of the spheres projected a hologram of a compass. "Head North by North east." The ship began to turn in a north-easterly direction.

"When we get 300 kilometers from land, let me know!"

"Understood."

"Now to get weapons up and running." He had a ship to catch and revenge on his mind. He took the weapons circlet and found the weapons were malfunctioning. The repair circlet located the damaged crystals that matched the ones he had found earlier in the hold. With the repair circlet, he managed to get the weapons system up to full functioning capacity. This took some time though, as he was unfamiliar with the layout of the ship.

"Proximity alert! 300 Kilometers to land. Unknown vessels detected on multiple scans."

"What?!" Dashing up to the command deck, he found several ships, sailing vessels dotting the sealanes. With relief, he settled back into the pilot's chair and thought about his ship. Another sphere materialized the image in his mind.

"Incoming transmission."

"Unknown target flying at 300, identify yourself. This is the US air force, and you are flying in restricted airspace."

"Gar! This is Captain Cade Valdor of the Perdition! What do you want?"

"You will be escorted to the nearest base and put down. Refusal to cooperate will be interpreted as hostile actions. Do you copy?"

"Incoming vessel." A hologram of an Air Force Jet appeared, with the distance quickly lessening.

"I repeat, do you copy Perdition?"

Not wanting to lose his ship or his life, Cade replied, "You bet I do! I'm a followin'. Rapha, follow the vessel."

The Perdition followed the jet back to a nearby airforce base where Cade disembarked but kept the pilot circlet on so he could control the ship. He found himself surrounded by military personnel and was escorted into a nearby building. Inside waited a hot little number in an interesting uniform. It had a logo on it that read SHIELD. Captain Cade knew that SHIELD was considered the international military and espionage organization that had built several of the superpowered prisons known as Stronghold throughout the world to hold supervillains that normal prisons couldn't. For them to be here and looking at him, meant something interesting or very bad.

The blonde bombshell looking at him extended her hand, "Jessica Spider, SHIELD agent. Just where did you get your ship, Captain Cade Valdor?"

Cade shrugged with a good-natured humor, "Oh, just something I put together. You know, fusion reactor and such."

Spider's eyes narrowed, "No, it isn't. It doesn't operate from a fusion drive. Of that, I'm certain. Now where did you find it?"

"I have a way of finding things, love." A smile stretched from ear to ear.

"I'm sure you do. Now what is it that you do, Cade?"

"I'm a...an adventurer of sorts."

"I see...like of the costumed variety?" Her tone spoke volumes about his lies.

"You...could say that." He allowed.

"Good. Because we may have need of you one day. If you are so inclined to be at service?"

"What's in it for me, dearie?"

"A small stipend, and contacts. If you need any."

"I'll think about it."

"Good. In the meantime, you need to register with the FAA and fill out this forms for us." She handed him a stack of forms which he took begrudgingly.

Back outside, the ship lowered so he could embark. With proper clearance from SHIELD he took to the skies. "Rapha, search for my ship." He took the Perdition toward the seaport.

An hour later, he found his ship. It was dark by now, and so he used a rope to climb down onto the deck. It didn't take long to discover his former crewmen were dead. Shot to death. Whatever they had been up to, this wasn't good. He debated about what to do, and finally decided to contact his new friend, Agent Spider. He informed her of what he found. Within an hour, SHIELD arrived and began an investigation. He gave his statement, and then left.

Later that night, he realized he had forgotten to look for something that could have been a clue to what happened. The man who led the mutiny, Rafael, may have something listed on the ship's manifest. Under the cover of night, he returned to the now deserted ship, and searched Rafael's quarters, which was his original quarters. He found a bank account with an account numbers to the Paramount national bank in Paramount city in Virginia. He also found a card, an ace, with the image of a hydra on it. Hydra, the international terrorist organization that was constantly in the worldwide news. What was Rafael doing with them? Paramount city was hopefully a place with some answers.

Re: Paramount city

On his way to Paramount City, Captain Cade decided to bury the remains of the former crew of the Pandemic at sea. He finally gained entry to the captain's cabin and learned of their last voyage. They were on a stealth mission against someone named the Conqueror. Discovered, the ship experienced dimensional attacks that displaced it and landed the ship on Earth.

Once reaching Paramount City, he landed in a park and began asking directions for the Paramount bank. He was confronted by a police officer who requested him to disarm his swords. Refusing, Captain Cade returned to his ship and flew off. Landing elsewhere, he found a cab and rode toward the bank.

In the meantime, there was a hostage situation going on in the bank. Hearing of the trouble, a man named Vlad headed toward the bank, determined to aid the hostages.

Captain Cade arrived at the bank and was shooed away by cops outside the bank. Vlad arrived and saw Cade and walked over to him, asking what was going on. Cade mentally signaled his ship to come to him. When the Pandemic arrived, he boarded it, lowered himself to the front doors, amid shouts from the police. Stepping through the door, he found himself faced with three machine guns aimed at him. The hostages were at the back of the bank, surrounded by more gunmen. Cade dispatched the first gunman, and took down the second, slashing into them with his swords. The third gunman opened fire on Captain Cade, and two stunning hits took him down, but he suffered no body. The remained gunshots shattered the windows behind him.

At the sound of the gunshots, Vlad thought that the hostages were being shot and he leaped into action. He ran through the front door and threw up a forcewall of air around himself and Cade. The other gunmen fired on him, but the forcewall stopped thier bullets. But one of the gunmen was on the inside of the wall, the one that dropped Cade. He fired at Vlad. Vlad had forgotten to armor up, and he took severe body and was unconscious. The forcewall dropped. Cade regained consciousness but pretended to be out as he recovered. He told Rapha to fire on the one gunman at his position, which Rapha did, taking him out. Once he regained his strength, he flipped up from the ground, grabbed Vlad and pulled him outside to behind a van. Once Vlad was safe, Cade summoned the ship to lift him up to the second floor where he crashed through a window. He made his way to the emergency stairwell and peeked back into the bank. One of the gunmen saw him, and they fired, sinking the slugs into the door. Cade ran up the stairs and waited. The gunmen came through the door, and he flipped off the stairs, landing in front of them. One mighty slash stunned the first. Another slash and blood flew from the second.

Meanwhile, Vlad summoned his power of stone and armored up, becoming a stone behemoth. He ran through the smashed bank front and placed a forcewall around the hostages. He summoned a fist of stone to rise out of the floor and crush the first gunman he saw. Cade slashed through the third gunman, blood spraying. After Vlad's stone hand crushed the gunman, he and Cade advanced on the remaining three gunmen. With short order, they took them out and rescued the hostages.

Outside, the cameras were rolling and reporters tried to interview Cade and Vlad. One of the hostages began describing what Vlad had done. Vlad, feeling overwhelmed, fumbled for words. Cade sensing his discomfort encouraged him to come with him. The both boarded the ship Pandemic and flew out to sea.

Away from the press, Vlad confided that he was an alien explorer and had been living on Earth for some time. He had a strong conviction about protecting innocents and couldn't help but involve himself in the events. Cade contacted Agent Spider and spoke to her about what happened. He agreed to SHIELD's offer of employment and Agent Spider told him that there had been a robbery at the Paramount Museum at the same time as the bank robbery. The men who had been robbing the bank were in fact Hydra agents. Agent Spider asked Cade to meet him at the museum the next day so she could discuss what had been happening.

Re: Paramount city

(Making a nod of admiration to Templar)

The Skull of Namuz

Characters:

Captain Cade Valdor- four armed pirate and adventurer/rogue

Elemental Man- Alien wielder of the four elements

The Justicator- SHIELD Eagleman

Witchhunter- Scourge of the magic world

Session II

Location: Paramount City Museum

Captain Cade and Elemental Man meet with Agent Jessica Spider and another SHIELD agent, the well-known Justicator, at the Paramount City Museum, where they discuss the recent theft of an ancient artifact, a golden skull. The security tapes show a beautiful woman, dressed in all white make her way to the fifth floor where she turns hazy, reaches through the glass, grabs the skull, and flies up through the ceiling. The security officer freezes the tape as they studied her face.

"Her name is Ghost," supplies Jessica, "She's Hydra. She operates all over the world, stealing for them. She's extremely hard to catch."

"What would Hydra want with the skull?" asked Elemental Man.

"We don't know at this point," Jessica answered.

"What do we know about the skull?" asked Cade. Thinking in this direction led him to wonder about who found it. "I would like to talk to the curator."

"She's on the second floor," provided the Security officer.

Cade and Elemental Man proceeded to there.

In the meantime, a man dressed in priestly attire and hat entered the museum, asking the tour guide for the directions to the security office.

"Why would you need to go there, Father?"

"Are you a God-fearing Christian, son?" The priest asked with a penetrating gaze.

"What kind of question is that?" the tour guide replied hotly, "This is the 21st century! Don't go shoving your religion down my throat!"

"I'm sorry son," the priest replied, "Just show me to the ancient books please."

The tour guide complied with the request, and soon they were on the third floor. Once alone, the priest cornered the guide, "If you don't show me where the security office is, then I'm going to make your life very painful in this one and the next!"

There was something about this priest, the way he was dressed or carried himself, that instilled a deep fear in the young man. "Ye..Yes Father, right this way." He led the priest down the stairway to the first floor.

The priest, without knocking, entered the security office, finding the security chief, a SHIELD agent, and a man who looked like an eagle discussing something. He turned to the security chief, "Show me the tapes of the theft please."

"Who the hell are you?" demanded Jessica.

"I recognize him," replied the security chief, "He's that priest from the Vatican who hunts witches! They call him Witchhunter. I'm not showing you a damn thing!"

Witchhunter ignored the female SHIELD agent and turned to the winged man. "Are you an angel?"

Justicator looked dumbfounded. Who was this guy? "No...no I'm not," he stammered.

Meanwhile, Cade and Elemental Man had found the curator and learned that the archeologist who had found the skull was one Dr Vandenhorn. It had been three days since they had heard from him. He hadn't reported in at the University either. He got the address from the curator and returned back downstairs. As he entered the security office, he heard a man's voice, "I will deliver God's judgment on all of them and send them to Hell!" Cade pulled his sword out and placed the tip at the strangely dressed priest's throat.

"You'll do what?" he asked. With a flick of his wrist, the sword flipped the hat off the man's head. The priest caught it and glared back at the four who stared him down.

"Perhaps I should go."

"An excellent idea." Jessica Spider said.

Witchhunter walked out of the office.

Cade spoke up, "I think we need to check on the Professor who found this skull. His name is Dr Vandenhorn. He's been missing for three days."

Little did he realize that the Witchhunter was still in earshot of the closing door.

"Hmmm." Witchhunter thought.

"I have his address so let's check it out." Cade mentally commanded the Pandemic to lower in front of the museum so they could board. Cade, Elemental Man, Justicator, and Jessica all boarded the ship. Cade forgot that he had a rope hanging off to one side and didn't see the Witchhunter grab it and climb. Soon they were flying through the city toward the Professor's apartment. Witchhunter was holding onto the railing at the top deck, undetected by the others.

They arrived at the building and the ship hovered low enough for them to disembark. The Witchhunter waited until they were inside before following them from a distance.

The crew made it's way down to the 20th floor and quickly found the Professor's apartment. They knocked on the door but there was no answer.

"Let's break it down," suggested Cade. He kicked the door, but it held.

"Let me try," said Jessica as she produced lockpicking tools. She picked it and opened the door...into the direct sight of gunfire. Somehow, the bullets missed her, and before anyone else could react, she leaped up to the ceiling...and stayed there.

"Spider," grumbled Cade, "Of course! Jessica Spider!"

Spider webbing shot from her fingertips and the Hydra agent was entangled in a mass of webbing. Justicator was the next to move, stepping into the apartment. He placed a hand on the agent and the agent screamed in pain as Justicator drained his health.

Several agents opened fire on the Justicator, but his eagle wings were deflecting the bullets. Jessica ran across the ceiling, webbing Hydra agents and dodging bullets. Justicator's wings were enormous and blocking his view, so Cade leaped over the hero and landed pulling his swords free of their scabbards. He cut into the nearest agent and yelled out, "Kill the lights!"

Witchhunter, came from around the corner, his shotgun pulled. He came from behind Justicator and grabbed the first agent, pulling him down the hall. Elemental Man asked, "Hey! Where are taking him?" He was very suspicious of this Witchhunter guy who, he now saw, carried a shotgun on his person.

Witchhunter looked at him and said, "He's going to be questioned. That's all."

"I don't think so," replied Elemental Man, folding his arms. He summoned his stone form. Behind them were sounds of gunfire and cries.

Witchhunter pressed the elevator button and walked past Elemental. "We'll see."

Inside the apartment, Cade turned the corner to find himself face to face with a silver plated robot with glowing red eyes.

"It's a Dreadnought!" yelled Jessica, "We've got to take it down!"

The Dreadnought looked at Cade and raised its arm. A burst of sonics missed Cade, destroying the wall behind him. Cade ran at the Dreadnought and leaped into the air...landing on top of the robot's head. He thrust his swords into it, one blade piercing it's metal skin. The Dreadnought reached up and, grabbing Cade, slammed him through the nearest wall and into the room beyond. Cade smashed against the interior wall, nearly stunned.

Justicator came around the corner and opened his mouth. A piercing eagle's cry was heard, and the Dreadnought shut down. Jessica finished webbing the Hydra agents and began calling into SHIELD for support. Witchhunter came into the room and blasted the Dreadnought, blowing off its arms. In the next room, Cade found an unconscious Dr Vandenhorn. Despite his efforts, Cade couldn't wake him.

Witchhunter tried to take his Hydra agent away for questioning, but Jessica, along with the police who arrived soon, prevented that from happening. Witchhunter left quickly when the police came. Cade took the Professor aboard the Pandemic, along with Justicator, and Elemental Man. They left the rest of the scene to Jessica and the SHIELD agents who took the Hydra into custody.
