SteveZilla Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 This one came up this week, Waypoint teleported Boomer to the other side of a fog obscured chasm, missed and put Bummer in a wall (random effect, 10D6 stun only). Should Boomer's Damage Reduction apply to the damage from the botched Teleport? Would it matter if Boomer was Teleporting under his own power? (Waypoint used "useable as an attack" as opposed to "useable by others") No; as noted on 5ER 368' date=' “no defenses of any kind” apply to mis-Teleportation damage.[/quote'] I thought that the character who was doing the teleporting was the one who takes the damage. Is this no longer the case (some/all the time)?
Steve Long Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Re: Who takes the botched Teleport damage? (was: Damage Reduction and unsafe Teleport) It's just a matter of common sense. Who should take the damage -- the character who got Teleported and thus found his body materializing inside a solid object, or the character standing dozens of feet away who hasn't moved at all? The former, obviously. There are very few situations where this could occur, of course, but if it does occur the person who actually moves via Teleportation suffers the effects. SteveZilla 1
