Mark Rand
Yep, another version of Black Widow. This one's civilian identity will also be Denise Dumont (because I think the name's cool). She is an attractive African-American woman who wears her black hair in cornrow braids. She was a high school cheerleader and on her community center's gymnastics team. Also, at her mother's suggestion, she learned to belly dance. She entered college as a theater major and wanted to act in plays. While in her senior year, Denise's first play was set in 1901 Boston, and she was to play a fashionably-dressed woman. In that day, during King Edward's reign in England, fashionably-dressed women wore gloves all the time. In order to get the same manual dexterity with gloves on that those women had, all students who were playing them had to stay gloved for at least 12 hours a day. Their instructor then added that his wife, a cocktail waitress in a swanky nightclub, wore opera-length gloves as part of her uniform and she was required to work an eight-hour shift gloved. The rest of Denise's plays also had her wearing gloves and, by the end of her senior year, she was comfortable wearing gloves for long periods of time. Denise was recruited by the CIA, who thought she had what it took to become an agent. After her basic training, she was taught two specialties, seduction and burglary. After training, she was given the code name Black Widow and assigned to a team hs its seducer. When the team's B&E specialist broke his leg sking, Denise was given the job and a new seductress was brought in. She didn't do her job as well as she could've and the target left. Denise was informed of the development and she played the role of a cat burglar so skillfully that the victim didn't know what hit them. The CIA kept her on as the team's B&E expert and a new seductress was assigned to them. TBC
Mark Rand
Re: Black Widow revisited, version 2.0 Over the next few years, Denise pulled off a number of burglaries, causing problems for enemies of the United States and leaving law enforcement officials scratching their heads, looking for the burglar the Athens press dubbed "The Black Cat". Mary Patricia Foley, the CIA's Deputy Director of Operations, was ammused by the nickname and asked Denise what she thought of having cards made up with that name on it. Denise decided to let Mary Pat make that decision. After three years of pulling jobs for Uncle Sam, Denise's luck ran out. While creeping along a hallway, a fist caught her under the jaw. As she tried to clear her head, she was struck from behind and fell to the floor. When she awoke, Denise found herself stripped to her undergarments and secured to a metal table. Looking down at her was a man in a lab coat. "The Black Cat, I assume," he said. "That's what the media in Athens have been calling me," Denise purred, using the French accent she'd always used in burglaries. "So, what do you have planned for me?" "I am a scientific genius," he replied. "However, the fools in the university say that my theories are crazy. I will show all of them." "Oh," she asked. "How?" "By injecting you with a retroviris made from the DNA of a number of different spiders," he replied. "If you're still alive after 15-minutes, I'll use a special device to bend you to my will. It's the same thing I've used on my associates. If you're dead, I'll just cremate you and put your remains in a trash can with the remains of my previous subjects." "Assuming I survive, your process, how will I be forced to obey the commands of others?" Denise asked. "No," he replied. "Only me." He reached for the tray holding the hypo and other related gear. "It's time." "My mother told me that there would be days like this," Denise said as the needle hit home. "Ouch." TBC
Mark Rand
Re: Black Widow revisited, version 2.0 "Now, my dear Cat, we wait," the scientist said. Thinking fast, and hoping the scientist would try and keep her alive, Denise began to writhe and pull herself into a fetal position. "Unstrap her arms!" the scientist yelled. "Hold her steady while I try and straighten her legs!" Watching through partially-closed eyes, Denise waited, then uncoiled her long, powerful legs, catching the scientist in the stomach and knocking him into the cabinets. As he dropped, his two goons released her arms. She flipped over them and landed on the floor. She kicked out, hard, with her left foot, brushing past thug one's family jewels to hit the bladder, where nerves and blood vessels were close to the skin. He squeaked, grabbed the injured area, and fell. Thug two crutched low, as if to protect that area. Denise caught him with an uppercut to the point of the jaw. He fell, too. Looking around, she found her clothes and equipment and quickly pulled everything on. Grabbing thug two, who was quite groggy, and hoisting him by his armpits, she snarled, "Where are your boss's records?" "You'll never find them," he mumbled. "You're going to answer me," she assured him. Then, there was a shot, and thug two died. TBC
Mark Rand
Re: Black Widow revisited, version 2.0 Denise quickly ducked and reached for her pistol as the scientist continued to fire. After he shot the fuse box, she jumped and found herself clinging to the ceiling. Shaking her head, Denise sensed the scientist throw his pistol at something. There was a crash, and a small fire started. Denise dropped to the floor, grabbed the mad scientist by his shirt, and snarled, "Where are your records?" "I'll never tell," he replied. "The NID will get them, not you." "Those terrorists won't get them," she assured them. "Dubya might trust them and that idiot Kinsey, but Dr. Ryan, the National Security Advisor, doesn't." She threw the scientist into the table and quickly and carefully searched the room. Finding what she was looking for, Denise left. She reached her car as the building exploded. Mark Rand
Re: Black Widow revisited, version 2.0 After Denise returned to Washington and filed her report, she was told to report to medical to have her powers tested. The first set of tests were done with her in a sweatsuit and running shoes. For the second, she wore her cat burglar gear. Both sets gave identical results. Her strength and reaction time went up slightly. Her dexterity increased a great deal. She could cling to, and even walk, on walls and ceilings. She could run faster and jump higher. She could sense things in utter blackness and, by touch, sense things. As they concluded the test session, an NID agent, who had gotten through security, pulled his pistol and yelled, "You're all under arrest for murder of one of our agents." "Your agengy has no business putting any agents in the field," the lead doctor said. "If they were, they were committing acts of terrorism and any reasonable agent would have killed them in the line of duty." "Our sources say that The Black Cat, the lady burglar that has been active in Europe is yours. Where is she? Tell me now and I may not kill you." Feeling tingles along her right arm, Denise raised it slowly. Suddenly, a bolt of electricity lept from her to the NID agent and he fell to the ground. "He's still alive," the doctor said after examining him. "Have security get this man to a holding cell." Notes: Denise's abilities in game terms. STR went from 12 to 18. DEX went from 14 to 28. SPD went from 3 to 4. She gained 20 STR cling, spatial awareness, + 2 levels to touch preception, a 6D6 stun only EB, and bonuses to run, jump, and, possibly, swim. Mark Rand
Re: Black Widow revisited, version 2.0 After being searched and questioned, the NID agent was turned over to federal marshalls. Since a note found on the agent indicated that the attack had been ordrered by the NID's director, a warrent was issued for his arrest. A second warrent was issued for all computer records. They stormed the agency headquarters while Congress was in session. Several people at the agency tried to resist the marshalls, and were shot. Among them were the director and his computer experts. Although much of the contents were destroyed, enough remained in the computer to cause President Bush to reveal the existance of the Stargate Project and Area 51. At the same time, the President added that these were high-security facilities and people who were on the property without permission would be shot on sight. Kinsey spoke out against the killing of the NID agents, who he called true patriots. National Security Advisor Jack Ryan called Kinsey a liar and an NID stooge.
