Mental Illusions: One or two way?

Sorry if this is in some obvious place and I've just missed it.

 

Does a Mental Illusionist know exactly what the target is perceiving? If he, for example, sends an image that the target's mask vanishes, revealing the target's secret identity, does the Illusionist then know what that identity is? Is the information flow one way ("Your mask comes off") or two way ("Your mask comes off...Hey, you're Rex Dudley, man about town!"?
