OGRE (Mammoth homage)

 

Jack Stevens was born with his sister a mutant with great natural strength and toughness. As he grew older he also increased in size and mass until he was a mammoth individual.

 

His intelligence remained normal at first but as his strength grew his intellect decreased until presently he is little more advanced than a 7 or 8 year old.

 

He first joined the Scions of Caine but was then recruited to the Frightful Five where he has remained ever since totally loyal to both his sister and Menton who has been secretly mentally controlling him.

 

He has also repetedly clashed with Grond over the years and the two have now quite a deep emnity for each other.

PROFESSOR FATHOM (Wizard homage)

 

Bentley Fathom was one of the worlds most famous scientirsts and inventors. In his field of electronics and the study of water he was and remains a genius.

However as his fame grew so did his jealousy of Amazing Man. Dr Atom was always more respected and more famous than he and he hated him for it.

 

Two events tipped Fathom over the edge, firstly Atom was given the nobel prize for science and Fathom was not even considered worthy of a place on the short list!

 

Secondly Atom was transformed into Amazing Man in the same accident that gave the rest of the Atom Family their powers.

 

This gave Atom even more fmae and adulation and Fathom decided he could no longer stand idly by and instead plooted to bring his rival low.

 

Putting his scientific expertise to bear he created himself various gadgets and items based on the control and power of water. Calling himself Professor Fathom and incoprating these powers into a powerful lightweight battlesuit which also gave him protection and the ability to fly, Fathom set about putting together an evil counterpart to the Atom Family.

 

Calling them Factor Four the team has been one of the Atom Families most deadly foes and Fathom and his team have caused Amazing Man and his family much grief and trouble over the years.

GRANITE (Sandman homage)

 

Billy Baker was a low level thug and associate of Freedom City's five Mafia families until he was volunteered for a wild scheme to make him super strong muscle for the crime families.

 

Baker was one of the first individuals to be given the "Power House" treatment. In his case it went terribly wrong. He was indeed given great strength and resistance to injury but was also turned into a rocky monstrosity with the power to control rock and sand.

 

Baker went on a ramapge and the press soon dubbed him Granite before he was defeated and captured by the young hero Hornet.

 

Baker slowly learned how to control his powers and repeatedly clashed and lost to the Hornet the young hero earnign his hatred. He also soon joined forces with Professor Fathom and became a founding and long term member of Factor Four who have been such a thorn in the side of the Atom Family.

 

He has also teamed up with other foes of the Hornet forming the Secret Seven to eventually defeat him but without much success.

 

Granite has been one of the most active villains in the US more recently joining both Squad X and the Redeemed before always returing to his evil team mates in Factor Four and to bedevil the Hornet again.

BINDER (Trapster homage)

 

Peter Whiticker was a top reasearch chemist for UNTIL, specialising in adhesives. One day he suffered a horrific accident in the lab while working on his new adhesive. The accident left his face covered in the super strong glue and the adhesive proved so strong mixed with the heat of the explosion left his face permenently damaged and changed.

 

Finding himself now bitter and seeking revenge after the accident Peter decided to gain revenge on UNTIL and decided build himself a gun that would be able to deliver his powerful adhesive as a weapon.

 

Calling himself Binder he went on a camapign of destruction against UNTIL until he was stopped and captured by the Atom Family's Blaze.

 

Finding himself in prison for the first time Whiticker vowed revenge on Blaze and was easily persuaded when Professor Fathom offered him membership in Factor Four.

 

Since then Binder has been an ever present member in Factor Four's schemes of villainy against the Atom Family. He has become an expert with his glue gun so much so that he can now use it for many different effects with his Adhesive which he is deadly accurate with.

GLADIATOR (Thundra homage)

 

The super strong red haired seven foot tall woman known only as Gladiator hails from the 27th century of an alternate earth where women have become dominant in every way over the males of the species.

 

Finding herself the unbeaten champion of her world in hand to hand combat she decide's to seek out new challenges and after growing up on the exploits of the historical hero group from the 20th and21st century the Atom Family she decides to travel back in time using the advanced technology of the time to battle and defeat the famous hero the Monster.

 

After being in fact defeated by him in single combat despite her great strength and combat prowess, she is seduced by Professor Fathom into joining Factor Four to wreak revenge on the Monster.

 

Despite being a part of the group ever since Gladiator is not really evil, she is motivated by the challenge of defeating the Monster in combat and by an ever growing attraction towards him.

TOM THUMB (Atom I & II homage)

 

Tom Palmer back in the late 1930's was a top research scientist working on his lifes work developing a shrinking ray, tragically though his notes and work were stolen and himself kidnapped by the evil Dr Diablo who decided to use Tom as the first guinea pig in his fiendish expirement of Tom's work.

 

The Ray worked only two well and as Diablo cruelly shrank Tom to a smaller and smaller size something unexpected and unique happened.

 

Tom as he shrank also gianed mass and strength making him a pocket dynamo and as he shrank to a smaller and smaller size Tom learned that if he shrank himself enough to could go to sub atomic size and actually teleport his body to another place!

 

Quickly realising his new fund powers Tom quickly overcame Diablo and decided to fashion himself a costume and help the allied war effort as the diminuitive hero Tom Thumb!

 

Quickly joining the Liberty League he served with distinction throughout the war years and was one of the lucky members not trapped in the time stream after the war.

 

Instead he became both a long term member of the Freedom League serving with them for many years and also acting as a mentor to the new shrinking hero Micromax when he continued to make strides in Tom's original scientific work of size changing.

 

Tom is known as the scientific problem solver bar none in the Superhero Community and has many friends and contacts with such groups as the Atom Family and the sentinels as well as the Freedom League and has struck up a sort of ongoing partnership with Freedom Eagle over the years.

 

Recently with the return of his team mates of the Liberty League from the time stream Tom has taken a leave of absence from the Freedom League to rejoin his old comrades to help them restablish the Liberty League in the new century.

THE BEACON (Green Lantern 1 homage)

 

Alan Allbright was a wealthy radio exectutive in the late 1930's when he was chosen by the powerful mysticalartefact the Meteor Ring to become its owner, guardian and champion.

 

The intelligent ring which had been thought lost for decades had chosen well, Allbright had great mystical potential within him and was also a very good heroic man exactly what the white light power of the meteor ring needed.

 

Once Alan put on the ring he was transformed into the first Meteor Man a powerful mystical guardian who was able to use the white light of his ring to form powerful shapes and objects from his imagination. The ring spoke to him and taught him how to use and harness its power and Meteor Man became one of the most powerful supers of his day.

 

Alan soon became a founding memeber of the Liberty League and often served as its chairman during the war. He served with distinction until he was one of the members spirited away into the time stream thoguht lost forever.

 

In his absence his two children struggled to grow up and deal with their own powers they had inherited from their father.

 

When he vanished the Meteor Ring remained in this time epoch and chose another guardian for its power.

 

So when he returned Allbright was both surprised and delighted that he still held the power of the ring but without needing its physical presence. He had somehow internalised its power due to his long guardianship.

 

Deciding to resurrect his career as a hero he decided to call himself the Beacon as now white mystical light poured out of his body when he used his powers. He rejoined the newly formed Liberty League and has also recently joined the Circle to advise younger heroes on mystical matters.

 

His relationship with his children however could be called strained at best he has again and again attempted to reestablish contact with very mixed results.

JACK B QUICK (Flash 1 homage)

 

Jack or "Jay" Wade as he was known was both the first famous mutant superhero of the Golden age and the father of a famlly of mutant speedsters that have become famous over the last 70 odd years.

 

Jack's speedster powers first manifested when he was a young pilot in the US airforce back in the mid 1930's. becoming an overnight sensation in America he fashioned a costume and was dubbed Jack B Quick the fastest man alive.

 

He quickly become with other new heroes of the period legendary mythic figures to a public crying out for ideals to look up to in those troubled pre war days.

 

He soon started teaming up with Meteor Man and others and the fledgling heroes soon created the Liberty League to combat threats none could deal with alone.

 

During the war years Jack B Quick served in the league as one of its corner stones of the team over serving as chairman and one of its most powerful members as his mastery over his speed powers grew and grew.

 

Jack was one of the members drawn into the time stream for many years but with his team mates recently reemerged still youthful and vital and found that he had sired a whole family of speedster heroes.

 

becoming the head of this family with experianced ease he often helps the young heroes with advice and conselling regarding their powers or their lives as crime fighters and he was also the energetic driving force behind reforming the Liberty League which has become such a great success. Although he may no longer be the fastest mine alive he has barely even begun to slow down!

NIGHT OWL (Doctor Midnite homage)

 

Doctor Charles Cross was a very prominent physician in Freedom City back in the 1930's. He was often called as a witness for criminal trials such was his expertise and time and time again he was called against Freedom Cities seven mafia families as a witness.

 

Eventually the godfathers of the mob decided to teach him a lesson and remove this little thorn in their side and they arranged for a bomb to off at his surgery.

 

Amazingly the bomb did not kill Cross but he took terrible damage and was hospitalised for months and the most terrible effect was he was permently blinded by the blast.

 

However after he returned home from hospital he found his sight slighty returning but only strangely at night or in the dark. Slowly this became the case and his vision fully returned but only in darkness.

 

Deciding he must both revenge himself on the mob and also that the people of Freedom City needed protection from their evil he decided to go to friends he had gained as a doctor to help train himself to become a crime fighter. He gained help from the Pugilist to train him in combat technique and acrobatics and from Dr Tomorrow he gained devices such as special lenses allowing him to see during the day and special Darkness pellets which he could use to blackout an area putting him at an advantage. Feeling ready now he fashioned a costume and called himself the Night Owl and acted as a one man army against the mob and also the resident doctor to the superhuman community.

He was invited to join the Liberty League with his friends which he duly did and gave long service to the team.

 

When much of the team disappeared into the time stream he was saved by his friend Dr Tomorrow and instead his aging was vastly retarded giving him a very long life span.

 

Deciding to carry on as a crime fighter he became along with the Pugilist a mentor to the Raven and his brood of crime fighters such as the Kestrel.

 

He has been instrumental in trainign the super heroes of the new generation and when his team mates recently returned from the time stream he was a leading figure in the reformation.

 

Recently his long standing sidekick Peter McNider was seemingly permantley transformed into a snowy owl in a case with the Canadian Guard. Charles has continued to look after McNider in this form as he retains his intelligence and has vowed to cure him. In the mean time "Petey" as he has become known on the team has aided Cross on his missions.

ALICE QUEEN OF HEARTS (Eleckra homage)

 

Christina Ketterling was born in a wealthy family, daughter of a British diplomat and Greek shipping heiress, she had a perfect privilaged childhood or so it seemed to the outside world.

 

In fact her father was terribly abusive both physically and mentally to Christina and her mother. When Chrisitina was 17 her father murdered her mother when her mother attempted to protect Christina from his assaults. Finally having enough of her fathers evil abuse Christina killed him in a murderous rage and fled the country in an attempt to start a new life.

 

After wandering the far east for many years Christina slowly became an expert in martial arts and even more so in all forms of far eastern bladed weapons such as Sai's and Katana's. At this point she first met the Protector Jaguar and the two had a brief romantic liason and he helped her with her training.

 

Some time later Chrisitina emerged into the Freedom City underworld as the skilled assassin Alice Queen of Hearts working for rival mafia families and becomeing a foe of both Foreshadow and the Hornet.

 

At this point it was revealed she had low level mesmerism powers over the the opposite sex and her and Foreshadow after many encounters became lovers instead of enemies but their relationship was always fraught with moral problems as time and time again Alice showed her ruthless killing streak.

 

She now stands between the law and no one can predict which side she will next take and some say thats part of Alice's charm.

BLOODY MARY (Typhoid Mary homage)

 

The woman only known as Bloody Mary turned up in Freedom City many years ago. At first she appeared to only be a rival for Alice Queen of Hearts as an assassin for the mob families and was drawn into conflict with Foreshadow.

 

But Foreshadow soon found out she was much more than she seemed. She was a shapechanger able to turn into loathsome creatures such as snakes, spiders and rats and despite her martial skill and cunning she seemed mystically powered in some way.

 

When he uncovered a plot to sacrifice a 100 children in the sewers of Freedom City he called in Pan and Belle and the Circle for help they soon realised she was in fact an ancient demon who had stalked and killed children over thousands of years.

 

the combined might of the heroes srove her back but she has been back many times since always stalking children or seeking her revenge on her foes Foreshadow, Pan and Belle and the Circle.

GENERAL WINTER (Winter homage)

 

The mysterious being only known as General Winter was been active since at least world war 2 and maybe even earlier. Very little is known about him, he is known in the west as a giant super humanly strong man with many powers over ice and snow.

 

In fact his powers are mystical in nature and it was been suggested that he is in fact the mystical spirit of Russia as his powers seem to wax and wane with the fortunes of that country.

 

He has often been seen as the patriotic defender of Russia to its citizens but to foriegners and those of the west he has often been a cruel heartless foe. He has most often clashed with both Dadelus and Lady Liberty and most recently he has emerged as the leader of a new international super group called Red Doom which seems to be made up mostly of Russian and ex Soviet super criminals and have the goal of ensuring Russia's re emergence on the world stage as the premier super power.

 

They have recently clashed repeatedly with the Liberty League and General Winter has vowed that they must be crushed to further his goals.

IRON DUKE 1 (Robotman 2 homage)

 

Cliff Crain was just a nomral every day joe in the wrong place at the wrong time. He just happened to be in his car driving during a huge battle between a mind controlled Atom Family and the Protectors. After receiving nearly fatal injuries to his body after his car was destroyed, after both teams regained their senses Amazing Man and Professor Psion combined to save what they could of the man.

 

All they were able to do is save his brain which they transformed into a powerful robot body that Amazing Man had previously built years before.

 

Amazingly the process worked and Cliff awoke to find himself in a completley new body a nine foot tall crimson iron robotic body with a whole host of robotic powers such as great super strength and endurance and toughness to injury and super senses.

 

This made Cliff spiral off into a terrible depression for his lost humanity and it took him many years to come to terms with his new "self" with much help from the Monster and Dr Silverback.

 

Calling himself Iron Duke and feeling now like an outcast from humanity he decided to join the Protectors as he now understood their mutant crusade for understanding and acceptance.

 

Iron Duke has become over the years a staunch member of the Protectors and being an older more experianced man he has become almost a father figure to the group of young mutants and is almost unique in being one of the very few non mutant members of the group.

IRON DUKE II (Robotman 1 / Arsenal homage)

 

One of the worst threats the Sentinels have ever faced was when Mechanon and Istvatha V'Han decided to combine their evil power to destroy them.

 

One of their plots was for Mechanon to gather to him various machine like entities to build himself a team of totally loyal individuals in his conquest to destroy all organic life.

 

For that purpose Istvatha V'han sent him back in time to just after cliff became Iron Duke. In this alternate time line the two villains kidnapped the robot and replaced Cliff's brain with that of a serial killer Mark Steele. Repogramming the robot to be both totally loyal to Mechanon and to have a total disregard for organic life the villians returned to the present day.

 

Although their plots at teh time were defeated by the Sentinels, Iron Duke II has remained to be a threat to humans everywhere and still totally under the control of his robotic master.

 

Iron Duke II has clashed repeatedly with the sentinels since often causing bloodshed to innocent people and gaining a reputation for utter chaos.

 

The original Iron Duke has yet to meet his namesake and doppelganger and both the Sentinels and the Protectors fear the day when he will.

Character Debut Issues

 

I am going to go back and edit in at the bottom of each character post which comic title and issue in my fictional universe they made there debut in.

 

I hope this is will be a fun little add on for the campaign. I hope their are still people reading this thread lol.

CRIMSON CLAW (Crimson Cowl homage)

 

Thr mysterious villain called the Crimson Claw first appeared years ago when he announced to the supervillain world he was the poccessor of the powerful artefact the Eye of Azog.

 

He told the villains of a strange contest to see who was the most powerful and who deserved the eyes power. This became known as the Great Supervillain contest and it continued for nearly a year before it was stopped by the combined forces of the Sentinels, Freedom League and Atom Family.

 

But the contest turned out to be a total ruse as the Claw only wanted to evaluate and test the villain population so he could cherry pick the candidates he wanted for a new villain team which would become almost an unstoppable army of supervillains called the Sinister Circle.

 

The Claw has lead the team against the Sentinels time and time again and he seems to have a special hatred for both Daedelus and the Patriot which predates the formation of the team.

 

The sinsiter circle has become one of the Sentinels more dangerous and persistent foes and almost succeded in destroying the team and their base on one occasion.

ANNIHILATOR (Scourge homage)

 

the deadly super killer known only as the Annihilator burst on to the Freedom city scrime scene only two years ago, announcing himself by killing 7 minor costumed villians and telling the super human community he was declaring outright war on them.

 

First of all he only preyed on supers he considred on the wrong side of the law but after coming into contact with the Silencer, The Patriot and the Raven and they repeatedly foiled his murderous attacks he widened his net to include all supers.

 

He contuined a very nasty feud with the Silencer which continues to this day with both men attempting to eliminate the other.

 

However it is the Patriot who has been his number one nemesis and despite avoiding capture the Patriot has speculated that the Annihilator may be in fact more than one individual and his grudge against superhumans stems from a deep seated hatred from a family incident maybe as far back as childhood.

 

This is all mere speculation however as the Annihilator remians at large and as deadly as ever.

BROTHER BASILISK (Grey Gargoyle homage)

 

Jean-Paul Renoir was a prominent scholar from France who specialised in Greek history and religion. He was widely seen as the world expert on the subject and delved deeply into ancient texts and scrolls dealing with the ancient Greek gods.

 

After discovering an ancient text about the god Hades Renoir went public with his discovery angering the still active god in the process.

 

Hades decided to teach Renoir a lesson and appeared to him and to his horror changed him into a living Basilisk of stone and cursed him to ever more battle the foes of Hades such as Dadaelus, Ragnarak and Heracles.

 

He gave him the potent magical ability to turn people to stone for a day with magical eye beams and his body of stone gave him great super strength, density and resistance to injury.

 

Renoir was unhinged by his transfomation into this magical man of stone and soon went on a rampage against Dadaelus until the armored hero defeated him in combat.

 

Since then he has often bedeviled Hades foes and has become a long term foe of the Sentinels as an individual and a powerful long term member of the Sinister Circle.

Midnight Angel (angel homage)

 

William Warren the third was born into a live of total privalege. His family being one of the most wealthy and oldest and well connected in Boston. Young William looked set for a life of luxury and boredom, until his 14th birthday when his boredom was shattered forever when during a fight with another local romeo over the affections of a very pretty local girl, William suddenly sprouted huge powerful jet black angelic wings from his back and his skin turned a deep shiny ebony.

 

Frightened and startled by his transformation William fled and soon found himself on the run deeply ashamed of what he had become and scared of his family reaction.

 

They did in fact soon disown him but he was found and rescued from starvation by Professor Psion who made William one of the young founding members of his new group of young mutants the Protectors.

 

Naming him Midnight Angel, the professor taught William on the use of his powerful wings and he also found he had other strange abilities such as the abilty to see in the dark, and detect evil. He was also far stronger than a human being and his wings were so powerful that at full flight he could reach almost superhuman speeds. Coupled with his natural agility and ever increasing flight experiance, William became a valued and long term member of the group only rarely having leaves of absence from active duty.

 

Recently William inherited his family fortune. With this good news and the revelation from the professor of a new strange ability to influence and seduce women that he previously only suspected off. Williams life is set to become even more intresting.

Professor Psion (Professor X homage)

 

Pilias Psion was born into a wealthy British family in the heart of the British establishment. He was given everything a boy could ask for, but from a very early age he knew he was different to his family and friends.

 

Pilias was a mutant you see, maybe one of the most powerful mutants that had ever lived. This was brought home to him on his 8th birthday when he was kidnapped from his home by the mutant master villain Mastermind and spirited away to one of his giant remote bases to begin his "education".

 

Over the next 15 years Pilias was educated, trained, prodded and poked by his abducter and went through many changes of personality and feelings.

 

First of all he hated his captor but as the years went by this changed into affection and even a strange love for his new "father" Mastermind on his part truly came to love his young charge and saw his potential as maybe the greatest living mentalist alive.

 

But slowly as Pilias mastered his vast mental powers he begain to see Masterminds obsession with making mutant kind control humanity as basically very morally wrong.

 

The breaking point came when Mastermind begain to put together his team the Scions of Cane. Pilias saw that the individuals he gathered were sometimes no better than ruthless murderers.

 

Vowing to stop his fathers plans Pilias escaped and now confident in his own mutant powers of the mind he begain to put together his own team of mutants to both combat Mastermind and other evil mutant threats and also to train and protect other young mutants against his corrupting influence.

 

That day the Protectors were born and dubbing himself Professor Psion, Pilias has led the team ever since and saved the world on countless occasions form Mastermind and other evil mutant threats.

VOID (Venom homage)

 

When the Hornet was caught up deeply in the Secret Crisis he found himself in a strange alien space ship which in fact belonged to the Devestator.

 

Hopelessly lost within the ships huge interior he came across a strange alien uniform. Trying the clothing on because his own costume had been badly damaged in battle to his horror he found that the suit was in fact alive! forming a new pitch black shadow form from the kinetic energy of hornets body the evil shadow entity only known as Void was reborn.

 

Battling Hornet throughout the ship until the hero finally managed to escape the alien entity decided to fight on behalf of the villians in the crisis and soon became a valuable ally due to its formidable shadow powers and ability to chnage its own density and to teleport in and out of shadows.

 

Void soon realised however that due to him feeding on Hornets life essence in his rebirth he needed to take more of Hornets essence if he was to survive. This terrible fact has ensured that Void has become one of the Hornets deadliest enemies again and again attacking him to steal his life essence using a strange sense to locate Hornet with unerring accuracy time and time again.

 

Although Hornet has managed until now to defeat or fend off the evil alien shadow being he has never beena ble to hold him for long and Void has come to beleive that only Hornets death at his hands will free him off the need to feed on his life essence. A evil plan he has no moral dilemma in carrying out.

re-imagining this campaign

 

I am preparing to run this campaign world again in a new online game and am looking for players. In the meantime I will be re-imagining many of the games characters and elements and adding new ones here.
