ZIGZAG (Elongated Man/Plastic Man homage)

 

Harvey Dibney was a successful actor on a very successful detective show. He was the toast of Freedom City, wherever he went fans asked him to sign autographs and solve their own mysteries, life couldnat get much better or so he thought.

 

But it did, one day on the show "Badge of Heroes" a complicated stunt went very wrong and Harvey was engulfed in a wash of chemicals. Instead of harming him in any way they instead totally transformed his body so he was able to stretch and mold his body into any possible shape he could envision. As well as this his body had changed on a molecular level and was almost impossible to harm in any way.

 

As the accident and the revelation of his powers had been filmed it did not take long for the media to get hold of the story and Harvey decided to come clean to the public and announce he would use his new found powers for the common good of the people and continue to solve mysteries for real!

 

Harvey found he loved his new powers and life and has developed into one of the happiest, wise cracking heroes there is. He soon was invited to become a member of the Freedom League and he readily accepted the offer to join with the heavyweights of the superhero buissness.

 

When things get to tense or glum Harvey ensures sour pusses like the Raven or Grey Hunter dont take life too seriously! if they appreciate his concern is another matter!

THE DRIFTER (Nomad homage)

 

The enigmatic hero known as Drifter has had a complex history and has in fact been two seperate men.

 

The first Drifter was in fact really the Patriot. After the US goverment took away his Patriot identity he was for some time in despair and decided to fight back and fashioned himself a new identity as the Drifter to continue to fight crime.

 

However once his Patriot identity was rightfully restored to him he quickly retired as the Drifter and for some time the costume and stunning disks of the Drifter remained dormant.

 

However a US Navy captain called James Monroe who had recently been exposed to the Infinity Serum decided that the Drifter should walk again and took up the costume as a vigilante.

 

He continued until the Patriot himself battled and defeated him in combat. Deciding to teach Monroe the error of his ways the Patriot took him on as his new partner and for a time the two battled crime together.

 

However Monroe never really agreed with the Patriot's liberal methods and eventually their partnership broke up and the Drifter returned to his more proactive manner of crimefighting.

 

Although still on strained speaking terms the Patriot and the Drifter have little in common these days as the Drifter continues his crusade against criminals who pose a threat to US intrests.

 

He has recently accepted a position on the secret goverment team Executive Sanction.

SKYBREAKER (Atom Smasher homage)

 

Paul Rothstein is the only son of the original Tom Thumb Alan Rothstein the famous Liberty League member of world war 2.

 

It soon become apparent that Paul inherited his fathers formidable powers allthough in a different way. Where as Tom Thumb could decreases his size and as he got smaller he got stronger, tougher and more dense.

 

Paul however instead went the opposite way, his powers allowed him to increase his size to become a gaint in fact and get bigger and denser as he grew.

 

Paul soon became a new member of the revilised Liberty League unde rthe code name Skybreaker but it was soon apparent his size altering powers sometimes affected him mentally making him violent and brutal on occassion. After nearly killing King Cobra he was both ejected from the team and actually imprisoned for assault.

 

While in jail he was approached by a secret part of the US goverment who was putting together a team of supers criminals currently serving time to go on dangerous suicide missions under the name of the X-Squad.

 

Eager to qualify for release Paul agreed and served with the team on many missions. He then realised however he could not escape and would not be granted parole. With others of his team mates who felt the same they escaped the authorities and instead formed their own team of fomer super criminals now attempting to go straight and regain their reputations.

 

They called this tema the Redeeemed and Skybreaker has been a member ever since, eager to regain the trust he has lost so he can eventually be accepted back into the ranks of the Liberty League.

MALACHITE THE MAGICIAN (Mandrake the Magician/Zatara homage)

 

Zalphore Malachite was a stage magicina and hypnotist and even by his own accounts not a very good one, he was a fraud, a confidence trickster. That changed the day he came into mysterious possession of a white hat gloves and wand.

 

they were just left in his dressing room one day with a mysterious note saying they would help his act. Zalphore indeed used them in his shows and to his astonishment they actually seeemed to perform magical tricks on their own.

 

He soon found that the hat was intelligent and it actually taught him some real magic and soon Mandrake the Magician was the toast of vaudeville.

 

As his mastery of magic and mentalism grew Malachite soon found himself involved in solving mystical mysteries and crimes and by the end of te 30's was an established "hero"

 

He soon joined the Liberty League but retired soon after the war and was not one of the members pulled into the time stream.

 

He eventually gave his mystical white artefacts to his daughter who became the heroine White Hat.

 

These days despite his age he is still a valued advisor of the Circle for his long mystical experiance.

WHITE HAT (Zatanna homage)

 

Zophis Malachite was the daughter of the famous Malachite the Magician member of the Liberty League. Her fathers exploits and adventures had always enthralled her and when he retired she pleaded with him to pass on both his magical white Hat, Gloves and wand and his great knowledge of the mystic world.

 

Making a huge splash in Freedom City when she first appeared as a heroine, the press dubbing her White Hat after her fathers mystical hat she now wore.

 

She soon joined the Freedom League and the Circle served for many years but has recently taken a leave of absence to raise a family, She still helps the Circle with cases when they need her.

RAZE (Damage homage)

 

Grant Morris thought he was a normal high school student when he accidently blew up half his high school science class when an unknown energy erupted from him.

 

Young Grant went on the run terrified of both himself and the consequences of what he had done. He was tracked down by the Scarlet Archer who saw him as a possible recruit for the Next Gen and saw that the boy needed their help.

 

Joining the Next-Gen Grant slowly learned to control his dangerous powers but it was a long process. He took the name Raze as that was the effect he had on his surroundings when he really let go which he rarely allowed himself to do.

 

Stil ltheir were problems of control and sometimes the energy would build to uncontrollable levels. In a case against the evil mutant Teleios, Grant lost control completley after the villain revealed he had been responsible for Raze's powers after he had experminted on his mother before child birth altering the boys DNA considerably.

 

Grant lost control after this revelation and blew away half a city block of Freedom City in order to revenge himself on Teleios.

 

Feeling great shame and guilt at the dmage and suffering he caused Grant ran way from his home with the Next-Gen and has instead resurfaced as a member of the new group of supers attempting redemption the Redeemed.

RAGNAROK (Thor Homage)

 

Ingmar Magnusson was a famous doctor in Sweden, when he decided to go on an experdition to some old Viking burial sights. While he was their he had a strange mystical experiance. As he stood in front of a shrine to the ancient norse god Odin he felt something or someone enter his mind or body or both!

 

The Norse god Odin had entered his soul and had chosen him to be his Avatar on earth. To warn and protect from the coming time of destruction Ragnarok!

 

Odin had been forced out of Asgard due to the evil plots of his trickster son Loki and had been searching in vain for a worthy vessel for his power he found it in Magnusson.

 

When Magnusson felt he needed Odin's power he Would call out to the sky Ragnarok! and would be transformed into an Avatar of the king of the gods.

 

Hugely powerful with immense strength and tougness and a master of Norse magic in all its forms this new hero was dubbed Ragnarok by the European press and when Ingmar decided to pursue his career in the US Odin's spirit was pleased as it meant he could combat the new villainous threat of these supervillains directly! they would soon feel his anger!

 

Ragnarok was soon instumental in thw forming of a new superhero team the sentinels and with the other founding members The Patriot, Dadelus, Micromax and Firefly he has become a fixture of the team and its true powerhouse.

 

He has become one of the most powerful heroes in the world but at the same time sometime sone of the wildest and most savage. The norse magic that surges withing him can never be easily contained, so decrees the will of Odin, the will of Ragnarok!

DUST DEVIL (Red Tornado homage)

 

The android elemental being known as Dust Devil was Mechanon's 2nd attempt at making artificial life to serve him after the disaster of Avar-7 joining the Sentinels.

 

This time instead of going after his hated father Micromax directly he would instead send his new creation against the Freedom League to test its combat power.

 

Mechanon had made him superhumanly strong and tough and this time had given him great abilities over the air enabling him to send out and control tornado like forces.

 

Mechanons plans again went wrong however when after nearly defeating the Freddom League the Raven and Tom Thumb managed to reprogram him and give him morals and a conscience.

 

Dust Devil then decided to stay with the Freedom League and for years he and Avar 7 were the teams closest link as they considered themselves technically brothers.

 

After serving with the team for many years he at the Ravens bidding joined the Next Gen as the teams senior advisor on all matters heroic. He is greatly respected within the Superhero community and the Raven felt that the young heroes could do no better than learn from one of the most noble beings in Freedom City.

FREEDOM EAGLE (Hawkman homage)

 

Carter O' Conner was a scientist involved in trips to burial sights in Greece in the mid 1930's. On one such trip he found an ancient manuscript which once he managed to decipher it was in fact an ancient journal from the Hero Daedelus which showed how he constructed and built the famous wings himself and his son Icarus had used.

 

Deciding to rebuild the devices himself Carter became the Freedom Eagle to combat the many nazi spies pouring into the country from Europe and the far east.

 

Quickly joining the Liberty League he served with distinction throughout the war and was one of the few members of the team not sucked into the time stream as he had been recently injured and was in fact rescued by the bird people of the Aerie where he soon fell in love with their queen Talona.

 

After a long courtship they married and they remained king and Queen of the bird people until an invading force form Thar the alien Thrinu people's homeworld captured them both and took them back for study to Thar.

 

The alien bird people both studied and Experimented on O'Conner making him much more birdlike in his genetics, giving him enhanced senses, the ability to communicate with avians and enhanced strength. Eventually both the Freedom Eagle and Talona escaped with the Freedom League's help and immediatley joined the team.

 

They have both served the Freedom League as members for many years with the Freedom Eagle being leader on many occassions.

 

Most recently the pair have decided to rejoin Conner's comrades in the Liberty League after their reemergance from the Time stream.

TALONA (Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman/Deathbird homage)

 

Talona is the current queen of the Aerie, the hidden race of bird people in the hidden mountains of Greenland. She is the current ruler of her people and is known for her infamous temper when dealing with human outsiders who have caused her people suffering such as with modern air pollution.

 

The Avian's are a humanoid bird people with natural great wings and enhanced senses and speed. when the Freedom Eagle was rescued by the Avian's and nursed back to health, he and Talona slowly fell in love.

 

Despite fierce opposition from her advisors Talona decided to marry O'Conner and make him king of her people despite his outsider status.

 

This has caused problems over the years as various coup attempts have taken place to remove him from the throne especially in the extended absences as members of the Freedom League or when they were in Thar.

 

Despite being a member of the Freedom League for years and now a member of the Liberty League Talona has been unpopular with the public due to her Avian heritage and her outspoken views on humanity, Despite O'Conner's attempts to soften her she remains fiercely independent and as fiery as ever.

PHOTON (Jubilee homage)

 

July Blair is the much younger sister of the murtant heroine Sapphire. She was unaware thatshe shared her sisters mutant powers over light until the Protector Jaguar came bursting into her home shouting about an immenient attack by the Midnight Society, who while posing as an influential Freedom City Social club had in fact been taken over by powerful mutants who were now looking to capture young vulnerable mutants and train them.

 

Jaguar saved July from their attack and took her back to Professor Psion who after reuniting her with Sapphire decided rather then her joining the Protectors as she wanted to it would be better if she joined the young mutants of the Academy.

 

July hated this idea but after trying to sneak away on Protectors missions and attempting to help Jaguar in his solo missions, she slowly accepted her role as member of the Academy and has since become an outstanding member and field leader using her light generation flash powers to great effect.

 

She remains very close to Jaguar and has slowly earned his respect and often helps him on solo adventures, her sister Sapphire is also very proud of her and the sisters remain very close.

 

Recently she met the Raven's sidekick Kestrel and the two have started a rather serious romance which is alarming all their friends at the speed of its development.

JACK FROST (Iceman homage)

 

Jack Drake was born a mutant with the amazing ability to transform his body to ice and to control and project cold, ice and snow.

 

Due to this powerful ability he was one of the first mutants that Professor Psion went in search for to form his team the Protectors. Jack accepted membership despite being the youngest original member and apart from a few short leaves of absences has been a cornerstone of the team ever since.

 

Jack has had quite a few failed romances over the years with female members of the team partly because of his age but mainly due to the erratic nature of his powers. He has often been trapped in his ice form and this has effected him deeply.

 

He was recently captured and expiremented on by the Warlord who has seemingly untapped some inner potential making Jack Frost one of the most powerful Protectors.

THE HORNET (Spider-Man homage)

 

David Ditko was an everyday teenage student at the Freedom city univesity. A science major he was very bright but socially inept, and not exactly popular with the ladies he was intrested in on campus.

 

He was attending one of the lectures of proffessor Curtis Conway on insects who was secretly the monstrous supervillain Dragonfly. when something went terribly wrong. While he was conducting an expirement on DNA of the common Hornet Conway was again taken over by his evil Dragonfly persona and the usual terrible transformation took place.

 

Once Dragonfly had taken over his body he started to attack the students with his electrical "Stings" and explosions started to take place. David was caught in one of the blasts and badly hurt.

 

He regained his senses in the hospital days later and soon discovered he had strange new powers! somehow the Hornet's DNA had merged with his own making him super strong and tough very, very fast and agile and giving him greatly enhanced senses.

 

Most strange of all he now had the ability to fly and could produce his own strange stinging or venemous blasts of energy.

 

David felt he had to bring Dragonfly to justice and fashioned himself a costume and went out and captured Dragonfly. The press immediatley dubbed him the Hornet and a new teenage hero in Freedom city was born.

 

Since then David has become one of the most famous heroes in the world but he is not always popular with Freedom City citizens as he is sometimes seen as a freak and menace after some media witch hunts against him.

 

David has always remained a solo hero and has over the years gained himself a formidable rogues gallery of some of the deadliest super villains, he has declined invitations to join both the Next Gen and the Sentinels and has recently begain a dangerous romance with the criminal burgler Alley Cat which has brought him into conflict with the Raven.

DRAGONFLY (Lizard/Fly homage)

 

Dr Curtis Conway is a famous proffessor at the Freedom City university, an esteemed scientist in his speciality of insects, he was on the cutting edge of research and wanted to prove various wild theories.

 

After his funding was drastically cut he decided the only way to prove himself right was to try his theories out on himself. He injected himself with his advanced insect serum and the results were spectacular although not what he envisioned.

 

Since that day at times of extreme stress he has been transformed into a horrible insect fly like monster that the press have dubbed the Dragonfly.

 

After this transformation he becomes a murderous monster on the rampage killing innocent people for food and attempting to control the university. These rampages last for days at a time before he eventually transfoms again and regains his body.

 

While transformed he becomes a human/fly hybrid with enhanced strength the ability to fly, to shoot out stinging blasts and to secrete a terrible acidic like substance which breaks down whoever is unlucky enough to be his next meal.

 

Dragonfly was instrumental in the origin of the teen hero Hornet and the hero has become his greatest nemesis bringing him to justice many times and earning his deep hatred.

 

Conway himself has no memory of the acts the Dragonfly commits and has become both terribly depressed and obsessed with finding himself a cure.

ELDRICH (Doctor Strange homage)

 

Adrian Eldrich was born into a prominent wealthy Freedom City family and lived an empty live of excess and wealth until he could stand it no more.

 

Searching for something more than his hollow materialistic existence he gained an intret in the mystical and the occult and started to travel widely in search of this new knowledge.

 

He eventually learned of the Master a legendary magician and supposedly earths master mage.

 

He tracked him down over two years and once they had eventually met the Master saw in Eldrich a huge mystical potential and immediatley convinced Eldrich to become his apprentice in all matters magical.

 

Eldrich studied with the Master for many years becoming ever more powerful and easily becoming his greatest apprentice and heir apparent to the masters title.

This earned him the hatred of his great rival the Baron and when the master decided to retire and leave only his astral body on this plane of exsistence Eldrich did indeed become earth's master mage.

 

Since then Eldrich has been earrths primary mystical guardian from such foes as the Baron, Tyrannon the Conquerer, Hades, Medea, Una, the Kings of Edom, Morpheus, Dracula and Takofanes.

 

Eldrich is also the defacto leader of two seperate groups, The Circle an ancient gathering of mystical heroes and the Outsiders a group of superhumans who Eldrich gathers around him to combat threats so strange and weird that no others can fight them.

 

This has given Eldrich a rich seam of friends and contacts within the superhuman world and he is one of the most respected and powerful heroes of the current time.

THE MASTER (Ancient One homage)

 

The Master was earth's master mage for many years before Eldrich. He was a mysterious Japanese sorceror of unknown age who aided the Liberty League during the war.

 

He was cast out from Japan and came to live in Shamballa Vale near the Tibetan mountains and due to his great age took to looking for a successor who could carry on his legacy.

 

After being disapointed many times with such individuals as the Baron he eventually found Adrian Eldrich and slowly passed on all his skill and magical knowledge to enable Eldrich to become the new master mage.

 

In recent years despite his great age he has helepd greatley in forming the circle and after Tyrannon's last attempt at conquest he sacrificed his physical body so now he only exists on the astral plane to other members of the Circle where he is still a formidible opponent.

DAEDALUS (Iron Man homage)

 

Daedalus is in fact the historical figure from anceint texts who with his son Ikarus decided to fly using the wings of his own invention. After his sons tragic death the Greek gods granted him immortality as a compensation for his loss and charged him with ensuring mankinds progress towards enlightenment and civilisation.

 

Throughout the centuries Daedelus has helped mankind along with his many inventions although they have often been attributed to others. After world war one and with the rise of the Nazi's in Europe, he saw that in fact he could stand along the sidelines no longer and decided to be actively involved in shaping humanities destiny.

 

Using his amazing sceintific and technical skill he fashioned a mechanical marvel a suit of armour that was electronically powered and gave him many wonderous abilities such as being able to fly, greatly increasing his strength and being able to shoot potent blasts of energy.

 

He soon joined the Liberty League and fought for the allies in Greece and over the whole of europe throughout the war.

 

He was not one of the Liberty League drawn into the time stream at the end of the way and intead spent the next two decades protecting humanity in a different way.

 

He set up a company Ikaras Inc. to control and distribute technology of all kinds especially the dangerous military technology that Daedalus saw needed controlling more than any other.

 

In the decades since his company has become a world leader and with him secretly at its head he strove to protect humanity from warefare and disease.

 

However with the expolsion of superhumans in the modern age Daedalus decided to fly the skies again as a superhuman with an ever improved and powerful suit of armor which he never tires of tinkering with.

 

He became a founding memeber of the newly formed Sentinels and with the Patriot and Ragnarok has fomred the heart of the team ever since, all three mens immortality giving them a common understanding and deep persoanl friendship.

 

In recent years after his company had been attacked by various supervillain foes Dadalus decided to join the Galaxy Legion in a new space ship of his own design which of course he called the Ikarus.

 

Now he divides his time between the Sentinels, his company and the Galaxy Legion life for Daedalus has become even more intresting in the 21st century.

DOCTOR METROPOLIS (Phantom Stranger homage)

 

The origin of the being who just calls himself Metropolis is unknown. many have made guesses but no one knows the truth to the best of our knowledge.

 

He appeared in Freedom City after an invasion from the Terminus had almost destroyed the city. He declared publicly he was the cities mystical guardian and set about rebuilding the city from scratch using his almost unlimited mystical might.

 

Dspite being an obvious force for good Metropolis has often been accused of being very mysterious in his motives and manipulating allies into what he wants them to do.

 

He has aided the Freedom League on many cases and was awarded membership by the team in recognition of this although he has rarely taken up the offer.

 

He is also a major player within the Circle but has often clashed with others such as Eldrich, Lantern Jack and Dr Twilight regarding methods and information.

 

His powers are a source of wonder as he often seems to have almost unlimited mystical might to even surpass such mages as Eldrich then on other occassions he has seemed very limited in his powers.

 

Like everything else about this figure it is cloaked in mystery and strange questions, only one thing is certain when Doctor Metropolis appears to you something very important is about to take place!

JOHNNY ROCKET 2 (Flash homage)

 

The famous superhero known as the fastest man alive was born the grandson of Jack B Quick of the Liberty League and the Nephew of the first Johnny Rocket.

 

Johnny Wade is a mutant in a family line of speedsters which seems very prominent in the homage universe. His speed manifested very early even for a mutant and after insisting he follow his uncle into combat he made himself a costume and he was dubbed Kid Rocket by the press.

 

Quickly establishing himself with the public he became very popular and as well as being his uncle's sidekick he also became a founder member of the Next Gen.

 

After the Secret Crisis in which one of the consequences of that event was the discovery of the Speed Zone. young Johnny took on the mantle of Johnny Rocket when his uncle decided to become the guardian of the Speed Zone and was drawn into it forever.

 

After this Johnny had much trouble with his powers as with his uncles help from afar he tried to become Earth's master of the Speed Zone.

 

To help him control his mutant powers he turned to Professor Psion and the Protectors for a time but he clashed to many times with Jaguar and their sometimes us against the world philiposhy and when he was asked to take his uncles place in the Freedom League he readily agreed.

 

Taking his rightful place amoung maybe the most powerful and respected team in the world changed Johnny and in recent years as his mastery of the speed force is no longer questioned he has become without doubt the most powerful speedster on the planet with his powers becoming ever more diverse and amazing.

 

With the return of his grandfather from the time stream and his uncles cosntant teachings from the speed zone and the fact that younger memebers of his family have themselves found their speedster powers Johnny has gathered a family of speedsters to help him against the ever growing rogues gallery he inherited from his uncle and grandfather.

 

He currently maintains a position in both the Freedom League and the Next Gen with ease after all he is the fastest man on the planet!

JOHNNY ROCKET (Flash homage)

 

The first Johnny Rocket was Allen Wade the nephew of the legendary Liberty League member Jack B Quick.

 

His mutant speedster powers manifested quite late in life when he had already become a police officer for the Freedom city police department.

 

Allen soon became a well respected and loved hero within the community and had a deep and lasting partnership with Meteor Man 2 and also was one of the founding members of the Freedom League.

 

Soon his nephew also joined him in his fight against crime as his kid sidekick Kid Rocket.

 

Allen continued to be a prominent hero until the events of the Secret Crisis where to save the universe Allen merged with the Speed Zone his physical body being ripped apart by the speed forces no one could control.

 

His family and friends and in fact teh whole world grieved to him and young Johnny took on his mantle as the new Johnny Rocket but in fact Allen's soul had not died he had in fact become one with the Speed Zone which is a mystical dimension which in fact in some way gives all speedsters their powers.

 

Allen had become the guardian and defender of the Speed Zone and was able to communicate and guide speedsters from within it.

 

His astral form soon appeared to young Johnny when he was in great danger and since then Johnny has learned that his uncle will be there for him especially when he enters the extrem dangers of the Speed Zone.

Doctor Macabre (Doctor Light homage)

 

Arthur Lund was a sickly researcher in the Hunter Museum in Freedom City. He was disgruntled and unfulfilled unti lhe came across ancient texts talking about a strange item from Scandanavia called the Janus Key.

 

Lund went in search of the artefact and found it after years of searching and found it was a magical artefact of great power allowing the user after he became skilled in its use to control and manipulate the light spectrum.

 

Calling himself Doctor Macabre due to the sinister light the Janus Key radiated he soon became drunk with his newly found power and went on the ramapge only to be captured and defeated by Meteor Man.

 

After being defeated by his nemesis numberous times Lund decided to put together a team of like minded criminals so was born the Frightful Five who soon became possibly the Next Gens greatest enemies.

 

Lund soon had the leadership ripped away from him in the group by the far more intelligent and powerful Menton and despite hating him for it he has served as a very capable second in command ever since.

 

He recently also joined a newly formed grouping of the Crime League to get back at his hated foe Meteor Man.

DWARFSTAR (Gizmo homage)

 

William Perez was born a dwarf. He hated his appearance and small stature and vowed he would get even with all those that mocked or underestimated him.

He was also born with a great intellect and had a genius for invention and electronics. He started his own company Gizmo's Inc. to sell small electronic appliances of many weird varieties and made himself a small fortune.

 

But it was never enough he demanded more respect more power and when Doctor Macabre put together the villain team the Frightful Five Perez quickly applied and showing them his amazing gadgets that he could use to deadly effect in combat he was quickly accepted.

 

Perez was served the team as Dwarfstar ever since and is the teams resident scientist and gadgeteer he has fought the team the Next-Gen on many occassions and hates them for their popular good looks and youth.

 

Despite his advancing age and diminutive stature Dwarfstar is both a deadly and ruthless opponent.

MENTON (Psimon homage)

 

Simon Medina was one of Dr Destroyers cheif scientist's before Destroyer decided to make him the subject of one of his research expirements into mental powers.

 

Simon was forced to endure months of painful expirements before the good doctor was satisfied with the results.

 

At the end of this mental torture Simon Medina no longer existed instead in his palce was a being of supreme mental powers, able to challenge the most powerul psychic mutants such as Professor Psion.

 

Now vastly intelligent as well as having powerful psychic powers of the mind Menton as he now called himself broke free of Destroyer's control and decided to put his own team of super villains together.

 

Coming across Dr Macabre he mentally menipulated the villain to beleivng this was his idea and helped Macabre put together the Frightful Five.

 

After many defeats against the Next-Gen Menton decided he would openly take control of leadership of the team and since then the team has been a much more ruthless opponent and Menton himself has become known for his evil methods which has included killing opponents with his powerful brain blasts.

 

On at least two occassions his physical body has persihed but he has transferred his mental essence into another host body. His hatred of Destroyer is only exceeded by his hatred of the Next-Gen and he wil lstop at nothing to defeat the young heroes as leader of the Frightful Five.

CHARADE (Shimmer homage)

 

Seline Stevens and her brother Jack grew up in Virginia not knowing they were both mutants until Mastermind the mutant villain came to them and revealed their powers.

 

Seline had the unique ability to transform elements from one to another while Jack was developing great super strength. Mastermind persuaded them that they were in danger from nomral humanity and they joined his group the Scions of Caine.

 

Thye served with Mastermind for some time coming up against such foes as the Protectors until Menton decided he wished to add tehm to his own group of Villains the Frightful Five.

 

Mentally dominating the siblings into rebeling against Mastermind he spirited them away forever earning the emnity of the mutant arch villain.

 

Menton then continued to dominate them with his mental powers as he does to this day ensuring two completley loyal members as they clash with his hated foes the Next-Gen.
