No offense' date=' but are we really hashing out a 100-year-old wrestling match? "Gotch cheated Hackenschmidt out of the title!" "No, he didn't!" "Yes, he did!"[/quote']

Heck, they're rehashing a character that's already been covered here et seq.

That's nothing. Oh the arguments I've had over the truth behind the Tranby Croft affair. Cheating at cards is just not on, but you can't accuse a fellow just for jollies!

Re: Another real life character for the Pulp Era.

Frank Gotch' date=' possibly the greatest wrestler who ever lived, according to some.[/quote']

He was famous and he was damn good. I don't believe he was the greatest of all time though... Keep in mind, if you asked people today who the greatest wrestler in the world was, a good number of them would say Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin or the Rock.:idjit:

Chapman is considered a bit biased by some wrestling historians... the book's still an amusing read though.

I'm not going to get into the Gotch/Hack controversy. I know men that went to their graves swearing it went down one way... and others that argued that it went down the other...

I don't doubt that he is biased.

We are talking about professional wrestling, in particular, and Martial Arts in general. I don't see any consensus emerging. ;)

Unless we find a time machine...

I knew of the Great Gama, but couldn't remember what years he was active.

Heck, Ueshiba Sensei, the founder of Modern Aikido, lived from 1883 until 1969!

In the Pulp era, we could have a REALLY interesting series of underground matches, or characters trained by people who are quite literally Legendary.
