Chapman is considered a bit biased by some wrestling historians... the book's still an amusing read though. I'm not going to get into the Gotch/Hack controversy. We are talking about professional wrestling, in particular, and Martial Arts in general. I don't see any consensus emerging. Unless we find a time machine... I knew of the Great Gama, but couldn't remember what years he was active. Heck, Ueshiba Sensei, the founder of Modern Aikido, lived from 1883 until 1969! In the Pulp era, we could have a REALLY interesting series of underground matches, or characters trained by people who are quite literally Legendary.
