Adjusting Charges that Never Recover

Gary

Question

1) The FAQ says that it is legal to Adjust Charges. Does this apply to Charges that Never Recover or Charges with Increased Recovery Time?

2) If (1) is legal, would a Dispel on a power with Charges that Never Recover, destroy that power permanently?

3) If (1) is legal, would an Aid or other positive Adjustment power create "temporary" charges that can be expended without using up one of the underlying Non-Recoverable charges?

Re: Adjusting Charges that Never Recover

1. It’s legal, but of course the GM should monitor the situation to prevent abuse. Repeatedly or frequently Adjusting powers with Charges which Never Recover would be a gross abuse of the nature and intent of the rules, for example.

2. Dispelling a power (whether it has Charges of any sort, or not) does not per se “destroy” that power, but may in effect do so based on the circumstances, special effects, and so on. For example, if a Dispel of a Magic Scroll of Summoning (Summon Demon, 1 Charge which Never Recovers) reduces the scroll to dust, have fun figuring out a way to re-assemble the dust into a usable scroll.

3. Yes, just like Aiding STUN or END does.
