To which I must reply: Pike was not only Wilson's DNPC (and I'd guess an 'incompetent' one too, certainly if his CO's frequent assessment of both his intelligence and his youth was accurate) but probably also some sort of dark secret. While it was never made explicit in the canon (save for those with eyes to see) LeMesurier asked Jimmy Perry on the last day of filming if Wilson was Pike's father. "Of course he bloody is." came the response. Thriving hotbed of permissiveness, Warmington.
Crimson Arrow
Yes, it's definitely implied throughout that Wilson might be a little more than Pike's titular "uncle". I never knew it had been confirmed by the writers, though. I was busy creating a new thread on the same topic, while you posted, so now we have two "Dad's Army" threads, a programme known to probably well under 10% of the people who post here. "V"
You can never have too many threads based on Sitcoms... Did I ever mention GURPS: Are You Being Served? Mrs Slocombes DNPC had better go unmentioned here. Far too much scope for a double entendre, so I'd better drop the topic before somebody slips one in!
