Background: Ian grew up a scion of the Gildpath family. The Gildpaths were merchant "Nobility" in their home city of Dunkeyan; they were vanguards of the paved roads industry. Ian grew up in a rather idyllic environment and planned to make his living as a stage actor, performing for kings and nobility all over Edean.

Of course that wasn't to be. He'd make a lousy fantasy hero if he'd simply become an actor.

When he was a lad of fifteen, his father's bad business decisions began to have an impact on the family's fortune. In desperation the elder Gildpath made some even more questionable decisions, among them paying an unreliable rogue to assassinate a rival, and when that plan went south and he was implicated, he grabbed his mistress and tried to flee into the night.

Unfortunately, his mistress was an agent of the same rival he'd tried to assassinate. Fortunately, she had taken a shine to the handsome, foppish young heir and when the Gildpaths were destroyed, Ian found himself alone (but alive) in the forests outside Dunkeyan with a grizzled old man as a protector, mentor.

It was slow going at fist, but eventually, Ian was transformed from hopeless noble fop to a master archer and ranger. Flushed with vengeance, he invaded the home of his father's rival and avenged the deaths of his family. Then he bolted Dunkeyan and traveled the world.

Ian made a decent living as a wandering hero and was self sufficient. He was in Ascencia when he first encountered an adventuring company that called themselves the Renegades of Paradise. The Renegades were in need of a wilderness expert to help them free their own (a druidess) from the clutches of what appeared to be a demigod in the service of Mandori.

Ian worked well with the group and was offered membership. He declined at first but was given a token from the Wizard Gueneviere that would allow him to contact them magically. Also it allowed him to transport, once, to their home base in Highport.

When Cord invaded Ascencia, Ian found himself once again among the Renegades. The Adventuring company played a key roll in turning back the invasion, at one point taking over the floating city of Hosh. After these adventures, Ian joined the Renegades formaly.

Personality/Motivation: Ian is a responsible man. He sometimes still wishes he could have become an actor (and occasionally performs during down time) but the life of a hero has been exciting and fulfilling and he feels an obligation to the people of Edean. He has met royalty and even Divinity in his travels and wouldn't go back to a merchants life for anything.

Powers/Tactics: Ian is a fantastic archer. He has developed some very impressive Master Archer abilities. The Rain of Arrows (a popular ability among archers) involves a silent prayer to Brianne, Goddess of Rain, and then loosing an arrow to the sky. A rumbling sound precedes dozens of arrows falling from the sky. He is skilled enough to shoot other projectiles out of the air.

As a ranger he enjoys an amiable relationship with the forces of nature. He can speak to animals and is at home living, moving through, and fighting in the wilderness.

Appearance: Ian is above average height (6'2'') and lean (170lbs) with short cropped black hair and brown eyes. When he's been out in the wild he tends to wear his hair longer, and a ragged beard. But he cleans up when in civilization. He prefers forest green and other shades of green and brown for his colors. He has snowcat (a white leopard) as his symbol.

Re: Ian Longwalker

It could be a while before I get a character sheet up. Edean has 3 different attributes:

Mental Defense (MD) is a standard ability, along with Mana and Mana Recovery.

I've also added a few Talents/Perks. and such and right now, As near as I can tell, the Export templates of Hero Designer can't accomedate me; we'll see...
