Another mansion idea, take 2

The mansion is based on Avengers Mansion from Marvel Comics.

The Mansion is located at the corner of Fifth and Shady Avenues, across from the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and Congregation Beth Israel. Until the Firebird Foundation, the organization that sponsors the team, bought it, the mansion was owned by the Lindmer family.

David Anderson is the butler, his wife, Marie, is the housekeeper, and his mother, Helen, is the cook. The three of them coordinate a staff of maids, housemen, and other workers. Administrator Elaine Davies, who recently converted to Islam, handles the team's business matters and makes sure there's always someone on duty in the lobby to greet guests or the team when they enter.

There are also an IT expert, a forensics expert, an electronics engineer, a nurse, and various governmental liaisons in the mansion.

Next, we look at the changes to the mansion from the original plan.

Re: Another mansion idea, take 2

Okay, the changes.

Since the last occupant was a mage, certain spells were placed on the house. It's bigger inside than out. There are gates to various places. The walls, ceilings, and floors are practically self-cleaning. The oven heats up in moments. Food doesn't spoil in the fridge. The dishwasher unloads itself. Items coming out of the dryer are neatly pressed and folded.

On the top floor, the Quinjet hanger is replaced by one for the Liandra. It's stats are the same as the Champions V-Jet. (I don't have a picture of it, yet, but I soon will.)

On the second floor, Tony Stark's office, apartment, and workshop are now the IT office and staff quarters. A gate is on the wall near the den and informal briefing room. It leads to additional living space.

On the first floor, the pantry has more space than it should from its size, and Jarvis's Quarters has been replaced by a two bedroom suite used by the Anderson family. The living room does double duty as their office.

Next, the basements.

Now, for the basements.

In the basement, only the combat simulation chamber and storage areas remain of the stuff that was originally there. The rest of it is the HVAC equipment, hot water heater, laundry, more storage space and a workshop. The gym/rec area and medical area are accessible through gates.

In the sub basement, the pool pumps, robotics lab, and sub pen access have been removed. A gate to the lab complex has been added.

Since Mr. Limdmer was a mage, David, Marie, and Helen were all told of the gates when the spell was cast, and David and Marie went through the gates with their employer. Seeing the piles of clothes with piles of dust in them, Marie carefully swept the dust up and placed it in a container that they keep in the library. The clothes was cleaned and hung up in two rooms in the additional living quarters, a hotel floor.

Next, more staffers.

Staffers are coming, but first, an addition.

The hotel floor has two exits, one to the house, the other to a street lined with shops. On one side are a Western apparel store, a uniform store, a restaurant, a bar, and a store selling belly dance supplies. The other side has a bridal store and one selling Islamic garb. None of the street numbers on the stores are related to the others. According to mail and newspapers found in them, the stores are from June 1966, in various cities.

Some staffers.

Representing the DOSPA are Harry and Samantha Crawford. He's a former CIA field agent. She's a former cat burglar who he partnered with for five years before marrying her.

They're accompanied by his mother, who has a severe heart condition, their daughter, who has her own medical problems, and the nurses that accompany them.

When the daughter and her nurse saw the uniform store, the nurse asked, "Should I start wearing a white uniform and cap instead of scrubs?"

Her patient replied, "Although I'd love to see you in them, Aunt Marian, I think the other kids at school might get scared."

"Then, I will see what I can find and only wear it here."

More staffers to come.

Christine Hunter, an attractive African-American with braided, black hair that falls to her shoulders is the team's computer expert. She constantly wears black gloves that go under the sleeves of her black cardigan sweater.

When she takes the sweater and gloves off, it's easy to see that there are at least 10 different colors on the skin of her arms and hands.

Re: Another mansion idea, take 2

One of the ideas I had for a base was a mansion on a large estate. In the Pittsburgh area, it would be in the suburb of Fox Chapel. Here's the URL for a site with a cool mansion: http://www.cpmaonline.org. Then, click on "Mansion Floor Plans". The fourth level is actually the basement.

The property has beautiful gardens with an Olympic-sized swimming pool behind the house and a circular driveway with a fountain in the center and a 20-car garage just to the left of the house.

Northeast of the mansion is a stable with room for ten horses (including the groom's), a three-acre fenced-in grazing pen, and the area used by the gardener and his crew.

Much of the property is wooded. Both the communications tower and hanger for the Liandra, the team's aircraft, are within the woods and hiking trails run through them. (The woods are monitored by a complex sensor net.)

The Liandra's stats are the same as the Champions V-Jet and she looks like the X-Men's Blackbird.

Staying with the above estate, the Anderson family has handled the day-to-day domestic operations for generations. Jacob, the patriarch, is the majordomo. His wife, Helen, is the cook. Their son, David, is the butler. His wife, Marie, is the housekeeper. Together, they supervise, the maids, housemen, and other domestic personal.

The Thompson clan works outside. John is a landscape architect and the head gardener. His wife, Jill, is his chief assistant. Their daughter, Molly, is in charge of the stables.

Team administrator Elaine Davies and her staff handle the business, legal, and public relations duties.

Electronics engineer Mariko Yamashiro and computer expert Christine Hunter keep the technical side running smoothly.
