Tempuswolf
Inner-Earth GM preparing for a campaign, here. The distances between the entrances seem very close together. Hawaii and northern South America are about 5,000 miles apart and their entrances are about 1/10 that. Are the underground passages (rivers, Arctic chimney) that long, or is Inner-Earth's depth so deep (9/10th to the center) to make Inner Earth geography and Outer Earth geography match up? Did I miss something?
Steve Long
Re: Inner-Earth Geography IIRC I vaguely handwaved this sort of thing with the pseudo-scientific explanation that "the Inner-Earth is a smaller sphere." IOW, the distance between Entrance A and Entrance B can be closer in Inner-Earth than on the surface because I-E is so much smaller, if you see what I mean. But honestly... we're talkin' about a hollow earth here. Once you accept that, I think you can probably stop worrying about realistic measurements vis-a-vis the surface and just have fun. If you don't have exact measurements and complex maps, then you're having BadWrongFun and I'll send Roter Baron after you with lights & sirens to have you picked up by men in black trenchcoats. Who speak with suspiciously thick German accents. No, seriously, it's Pulp. We're talking about a genre where people are taken prisoner but not stripped of their weapons. I don't always agree with my bespectacled compatriot, but indeed -- ignore the particulars and go for atmosphere; that's alot of what the pulps are about.
