A character has 13 STR. She does a base of 2.5d6 hand-to hand combat damage.
She buys a 2.5d6 HtH Attack. She now can do 5d6 HtH damage.
Her player reads the "differentiating STR damage" section in the Ultimate Brick. She spends an experience point to buy her STR up to 14, after role-palying that she's been working out trying to get stronger.
Per that section, if the GM allows it, her base STR damage is 3d6-1. Using the HtH attack, would it be proper to damage be 5.5d6-1 or 5d6+1?
