Increased Maximum Range vs Megascale

Steve, I see in The Ultimate Brick that it's legal (mechanically speaking) to buy Megascale (Range) for Strength (a power that isn't generally considered Ranged) to affect the throwing distance.

 

My question is, since it is legal to apply Megascale that way, is it legal to apply a different but similar advantage like Increased Maximum Range?

They’re both “legal” for that purpose, but “legal” doesn’t always mean “a good idea.” Think of them as Stop Sign sort of powers.
