Protects Carried Items Force Fields & Damage Shields

SteveZilla

Question

Say I have a Force Field that I can use to protect carried items.

1. This doesn't change the mechanics of attempting to Grab this object away from me, right?

Now, suppose I have a Damage Shield linked to my Force Field (and I'm using both), and I an holding an object that I am protecting with my Force Field. Would someone striking the object or grabbing this object from me take the Damage Shield damage?

Also, would my Damage Shield be:

1. damaging the held object, but reduced by my Force Field's defenses,

2. damaging the held object and not be reduced by my Force Field's defenses,

3. or not causing any damage the object?

Would any of the above change if the Damage Shield were also Offensive?

Thanks!

Re: Protects Carried Items Force Fields & Damage Shields

1. No, it doesn’t change Grab one bit.

2. Attempting to Grab an object from a person is the same as trying to Grab that person for Damage Shield purposes; the Grabber takes the Shield’s damage, unless the GM rules otherwise.

3. A Damage Shield linked to a Force Field (or any other Defense Power, for that matter) is in no way reduced in effectiveness by the defense of that power.

4. As a default, if a character has a Damage Shield, the Shield’s damage applies to anything he holds (of course excluding his own Foci, clothes, etc.). His own defenses, including a Force Field that protects carried items, do not protect the carried object from this damage.
