Lack of Weakness and Defenses

dsatow

Question

Just for clarification:

If you have lack of weakness resistant and you pick up that Viper force belt, does your lack of weakness cover the force belt? (I am generally thinking no but would like to know for sure)

If Psykill has a RKA BoECV DBody with find weakness, does he need to find weakness against IronWill's mental defense and mental force field (ie: is there such a thing as resistant mental defense or even resistant power defense).

Re: Lack of Weakness and Defenses

If a character buys Lack Of Weakness, that LoW applies to whatever defenses he bought it for. If he find some other defense from somewhere else and uses it temporarily, common sense tells us that's not part of the defenses he bought LoW since he didn't have it at that time. There would need to be some indication that the new defense is permanent and personal to him (i.e., he pays Character Points for it) before LoW would apply.

If a character buys LoW, he buys it for all of his Normal Defenses, or all of his Resistant Defenses, unless he Limits it to some subcategory of those. As stated in the rules, LoW has to be bought individually for exotic defenses like Mental Defense and Power Defense. If a character has two forms of an exotic defense (such as standard Mental Defense and a Force Field that also provides Mental Defense), LoW bought for that defense applies to all of that defense as a whole, just as with Normal or Resistant Defenses. The rulebook specifically addresses the question of whether exotic defenses are Resistant.
