The secret history of the black room

 

During the reign of king Louis the XIII the Cabinet noir (black room) was the kings secret spy ring intercepting the post decoding the messages but its true secret was much deeper they where the training ground for the crowns assassins and spies.

 

There speciality was female agents chosen trained and sent out to do the king (and his ministers bidding). the Cabinet noir would find girls on the streets of Paris buy them from there parents or liberate them from prison and train them. there symbol was a black fire-lighters . sadly for the Cabinet noir there most famous agent of this period was a rouge who had been branded traitor (quite literally the mark of the fleur-de-lis had been burnt into her flesh during her interrogation) and would have been executed if she had not been assisted in faking her death by the priest who came to give her last rites an up and coming soon to be cardinal by the name of Richelieu.

 

Eventually the cabinet noir would be come and open secret but the revealing of its role in clandestine monitoring of the post would further mask its true nature.

 

Proceeding the revolution the black room sought to instil more fear into those who would plot against the crown to this end they created the persona of "Le Lys noir the black lily, a shadowy assassin who would silence the voices of opposition to the crown. And the symbol of a black fleur-de-lis would appear at the scene of every murder or disappearance her calling card. some times daubed on the walls other times burnt into the flesh of those she killed. The best female agents of the black room would wear the costume and even if they died another would take her place becoming an undying symbol of the kings vengeance.

Unfortunately for the cabinet noir the revolution failed and within its ranks there was a civil war of those that survived the bloody aftermath, some fled taking there pupils founding there own black rooms under other patrons some became assassins for hire and some remained and joined the new republic and le Lys noir would become France’s secret weapon against its enemies once more.

 

 

Meanwhile the Russians had taken in a small contingent of exiles from Frances black room and would set up there own organisation in opposition. Belyĭ zal the white room the greatest of there agents from this initial founding was vdova v chernom the widow in black a woman who had tricked her way into to Russian aristocracy with beauty and guile and then married and murdered three husbands each wealthier than the last when she was eventually caught whilst poisoning husband number four she was switched from the gallows by the white room and set to work. The widow would become the face of the white room just as the black lily had been for the black.

Eventually the aristocracy would fall just as it did in white room became the red but the widow remains there greatest weapon.

 

At the same time as the white room was establishing it self in Russia across the Atlantic the American revolution was beginning and elements of the black cabinet would be recruited by the culper ring George Washington own espionage group agent 355 was the first of many to be trained by the remnants of the black room of the presidents own use.

During the cold war the director of the Culper ring went rogue forming his own Division dedicated to remaking America his way The ring barely survived and has fought a covert war with division and its assassins ever since.
