I first encountered the 'memory palace' concept in Katherine Kerr's Deverry novels and thought they were cool, and didn't find out until years later that they were an ancient technique. Yes, you can read his mind but what you find makes absolutely no sense! I mean, the Incredible Hulk on an exercise bike? what does that mean? and so forth ans so on.
