Prydwin
I am always on the look for good resources and over the years have built a sizable library of both historical and fictional resources for games of most genres. However it is a never ending quest, thus I have two questions... First does anyone have any suggestions, no matter how esotaric or mainstream? If anyone is interested I would provide titles and ISBNs to those that I have found most useful. Second, does anyone know a gaming store (that sells HERO products) in the Santa Barbara area? I plan on being in the area soon.
Lord Liaden
Are you looking for any type of resources in particular? You could post specific requests here - I'm sure you'd get suggestions in short order. You could also use the Search function near the top of this board to search archived posts; we've had wide-ranging discussions here. Also, are you interested in print resources, or Internet websites? If the latter, I'd suggest following the "Hero Links" link at the top of this page. Many HERO gamers have created interesting original campaigns or conversions from other sources, covering many genres, historical periods or known settings, other media, even other games. To start the ball rolling, here's a fine website for information about myths, legends and folklore from around the world: http://www.pantheon.org To find a retailer near your area, try checking first under the "Hero Retailers" link also at the top of this page. For more obscure, rare and/or out of print game items, HERO and otherwise, I've used the following reputable online used game retailers. All of them take multiple payment options and ship internationally, and several take games in trade. Between them I've been able to find almost anything I've wanted: http://www.titangames.com http://www.nobleknight.com http://www.dragonstrove.com http://www.sentrybox.com http://www.cyberdungeon.com
Prydwin
Resources I have most of the basics ... but what I am looking for is a breakdown of various monetary systems from the Renassance and medieval periods. Specifically how the various coinages interacted during various timeperiods. An example would be how many farthings did take to equal a ducat etc.
Farkling
huh. That was easy information when I was in England, but now I haven't a clue. Have you tried browsing Cambridge's website to ask a local professor or student?

In particularthis page has some good information on the various debasements of English currency from Alfred the Great to George the third, with comparisons to French and Roman coinage. He also throws in information on American currencies and a history of the Bank of England. In all it is a facinating site which ranges from the geneology of the Neo-Babylonian kings, the Marxist philosophy of history, Chinese calendar reform, WWII battleships, to a Libertarian history of the Presidents of the USA. Prydwin
Now that is something that I can use. Thank you for the site it has already proven to be very helpful. If there is anything that you need in return please let me know and I will see what I can do. I found an interesting text by John Clements on Medieval Swordsmanship... very intersting.
