The heart functions somewhat like a second brain.  It signals the brain more than the brain signals it.  The heart effects strategic thinking, reaction times, and self-regulation.  This is improved with heart-focused breathing; concentrate on breathing with your heart (previously said to be breathing from your diaphragm), inhale 5 seconds, exhale 5 seconds.  -Jim Marshall III, MD

See attached file at the end.

Extreme exertion including hand-to-hand combat, adrenaline rush due to anger, fear and such disrupts this.  As such, in many cases, these benefits elapse after the first Segment (12) of combat, if not sooner.

Complication / Disadvantage Genalophatalmy.hdp:

Physical Limitation:  Genealophatalmy: Can't Distinguish Between the Quick and the Dead (Infrequently, Greatly Impairing)

Viewing a mortal, subject sees all that mortal's deceased ancestors.  Subject sees your parents, the parents of your parents, and so on back to prehistory.  For the subject, we're only a link in an immense chain.  This makes targeting in combat a big problem.  In this case, it is addressed with a magic hood, eliminating this trouble when worn.  -from Dungeon, vol. 1, Duck Heart, by Joann Sear and Lewis Trondheim

The Dragunov SVDK large caliber sniper rifle (any rifle in caliber above 9mm is considered a "large caliber" in Russia) is a somewhat controversial weapon, recently adopted by Russian army. It was developed through "Vzlomshik" (Breaker) research and development program, along with 7.62mm SV-98 sniper and 12.7mm ASVK anti-materiel rifles. The purpose of SVDK is to deal with targets which are too "hard" for standard 7.62x54R sniper rifles like SV-98 or SVD, such as assault troops in heavy body armor or enemy snipers behind cover. There also were rumors that SVDK will serve as a long-range anti-personnel weapon, but the real-life long range ballistics of 9.3x64 7N33 ammunition is well behind the world's famous .338 Lapua Magnum, usually used for such applications. The effective range of SVDK is cited as "about 600 meters"; the 16.5-gram bullet has a hardened steel core and is launched at about 770 m/s, generating about 4900 Joules of muzzle energy. At 200 meters the 7N33 bullet has 80% chances to penetrate 10 mm (0.4") armor plate. It is interesting to note that 9.3x64 7N33 sniping cartridge is actually based on 9.3x64 Brenneke hunting round, designed in early 20th century for large game hunting, and the SVDK started its life as a 9.3x64 "Tigr-9" hunting rifle, based on SVD design.

Basic mechanisms of SVDK are similar to that of Dragunov SVD rifle, although receiver and other working parts were redesigned to accept a larger and more powerful cartridge. It has same short-stroke gas piston action with 2-position gas regulator and a rotary bolt with three radial lugs. The receiver is also a machined part. The rear part of the barrel is enclosed into tubular steel jacket, which in turn is concealed within polymer hand guards. This relieves the barrel from the stress, imposed by hand guards and bipod, making it "almost free-floating." The trigger and safety are similar to that of SVD, and pistol grip and folding butt are copies of SVDS parts, although SVDK has a larger rubber buttplate to provide better dissipation of recoil forces. Unlike original SVD, the SVDK rifle has no provisions for a bayonet mounting. Like SVD, SVDK is fitted with adjustable open sights; telescope or night sights are installed using SVD style side rail on the left side of receiver, using quick-detachable mounts. Standard optical sight is 3-10X variable power 1P70 "Giperion" telescope.  http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sniper-rifles/rus/svdk-e.html

Cross post from 12 Months, 12 Characters, Martial Artist

I Can Read Your Moves - a Kasujin Sword Technique to let an opponent recognize their loss and vulnerability without killing them, movement that renders the opponent helpless by stepping into an area where they are not able to use their weapon.  You either raise or lower their sword, keep overpowering their attacks, never facing them.  Right or left side, move your body in the direction that their sword cannot reach.  As if drawing a circle, move yourself and the opponent in a circle by either grabbing or pushing their body.  Jubei Yagyu derived a few different ways for entering that position, and ten variations of the position.

This is an example of the Optional Combat Maneuver; Cover, with limited availability starting in the year 1650.

72 Vacant Fists

(much cooler name than Evasive)

Translated excerpt from Jin Yong novel

After having reached the tenth level of the
Dragon and Elephant Wisdom Dexterity
, the Imperial Priest wanted to test out his new level on these experts. He saw that Zhou Botong raised his fists and attacked himself, so he too raised his fists and wanted to intercept Zhou's fist. Before they actually exchanged blows, Zhou Botong could hear a series of light popping sounds coming from the Imperial Priest's arms. Zhou Botong was startled and knew that his adversary had a strange fist power and did not dare to receive it straight on.

Zhou Botong lowered his elbow a bit and used his Vacant Fists skill.

The blow by the Imperial Priest had as much power as 1000
jin-(1 jin is 1/2 kilogrammes
). One could not say it was comparable to the strength of dragons or elephants but it was impossible for mere flesh and blood to receive such a blow. But when he intercepted the fist of Zhou Botong, it felt empty and vacant like there was no strength in it at all. He was somewhat shocked and used his left palm to strike out again.

Zhou Botong felt that his opponent's power was omnipotent, he had never seen this before. Zhou Botong loves martial arts and whenever he knew someone who had a special skill he would challenge that individual to a duel. He has encountered numerous martial artists in his life, but even he had never heard or seen such strong power released by the Imperial Priest. He did not know what skill the Imperial Priest used, so he used his 72 Vacant Fists to battle the Imperial Priest. He used void to intercept solid and nothingness to block solidity. By doing so he has rendered the awesome power of the Imperial Priest useless, but it was also impossible for him to wound his adversary. The Imperial Priest attacked with several stances now, it seems his stances could not even tickle his adversary. He became frustrated that his dexterity, which he trained many years in, has not helped him gain the upper hand.
