Vondy
A whole bunch of weirdness is coming together... bioregionalism and cultural-intellectual rather than religious heathenry are things my wife is into these days -- she is a "cascadia-phile" -- and I have a love of myth and folklore, esp. anglo-saxon and old norse. The notion of an mystical-occult awakening that leads to a collapse of the world order (a sort of ragnorak?) could make for an interesting setting. The modern world is too interconnected and states too structured and people too monitored for pulp stories to work. Instead of dialing the clock back to a "simpler time" one could instead push it forward. the post-apocalypse idea would allow for more flexibility in world building and more zany pulp ideas to come forward. And, the upheaval and emergence of hoodoo could mean the tech-base doesn't advance much over several decades. Welcome to Cascadia, the wyrd west...
