Alien Race: The Exiles

Once the best and brightest minds of a fledgling interstellar empire, the Exiles chose to stay on their dying planet, manning the launch of giant space arks and perishing once their people had been saved.

The original Exiles were scientists and thinkers who had "failed to prepare their people to stave off geological disasters." In so doing they had doomed the planet and its colonies nearby. Led by a contrite master scientist L'Ngstrom Orell, the first Exiles designed the space arks to save the rest of the citizens and the tests to determine who went where.

Time was of the essence, the geological disasters were coming more frequent and more powerful entire cities had been lost as the land beneath them fell away. Here to fore unknown volcanoes erupted in the middle of capital buildings.

The Arks were created in a few short years and the population was divided up to best make use of their skills and/or genetics. And then the Exiles saw their people off and turned, accepting their fate.

Their fate as the saviors of Bayatoul I.

Orell's plan had gone off without much of a hitch. For nearly a century he had cautioned, warned, and then pleaded with the ruling class about the damage done to Bayatoul by their eons of environmentally reckless industrialization. Science and Technology had transformed their world into a utopia and the Bayatoulians had taken the first steps to colonize other worlds in their solar system. These colonies had included many scientists still studying their home world from afar.

When the world had edged near the point of no return, Orell acted. It wasn't the Bayatoulians that were the problem, it was MOST of the Bayatoulians. Finding a like minded cabal of thinkers they crafted devices to make the approaching apocalypse appear to be happening and convinced the leaders that escape was the only option. To make the pill easier to swallow, they accepted responsibility for the disaster, allowing politicians and business leaders to save face. The masses and their leaders were divided up and put on the space arks and sent to find new homes for the Bayatoulian people.

The colonists that wished to escape were returned to Bayatoul and with a solemn celebration, 90% of the population left for parts unknown.

Orell and his Exiles set about fixing the environmental damage while continuing the Bayatoulian excellence on genetic modification eventually turning themselves into a nigh immortal race of enlightened supermen.

The Exiles are, as you can probably imagine, self-important, manipulative, holier than thou jerks as a rule. Individuals vary of course but they aren't above fooling an entire populous to achieve their goals. They have a great respect for art, philosophy, and intellectual or physical pursuits. They have their world and intend to keep it, they don't have expansionist aims and find "Business" to be beneath them. They favor self-sufficiency and personal responsibility.

Phyiscally, the average Exile is a tall, handsome human with pointed ears and a healthy, symmetrical physique. Their hair and eye colors fall into the range of Earth-based humans but with a bit more variation among the spectrum (yellow, indigo, violet etc)

GM NOTES:

The Exiles are responsible for some of the more aggressive intergalactic cultures in the Else Earth Universe on a direct level. They essentially divvied up the "people who don't get it" and shipped them off in a social experiment that they still get data from to this day.

Most don't see this as a problem.

Chad's Notes:

These guys are my Kryptonians without the yellow sun issue. They're long-lived, physically demi-godlike, have a relatively high rate of other powers (roughly 20% have some Psionic or Energy control abilities) and access to exceptionally high technology. However, they're insular, and surprisingly unadventurous. The rare few who wish to see the outside have their memories of their home world's location erased from their minds and devices. Ultra Woman is an Exile in exile.
