San Corona Pre Preview: PIXIE

So I have been working on a trilogy of books for years now.  It is a slow project, often rewriting whole sections because I am unhappy with it. 

 

Anyways this is one of the sample characters, thought I would share and see how it is received

 

PIXIE:

Background/History:  Janet Ingles was the daughter of a decorated police office.   He was also a single parent, and she idolized him for it.  When he was injured in the line she knew she would follow him on the force.  While he was not happy about it he supported her decision and she graduated the academy with high scores. 

 

She was soon known as a rising star of the police force.  Between her family legacy and her natural talent she was sure to make captain.  Unfortunately being so well known in the law enforcement circles brings its own dangers, including the interest of organized crime, in San Corona that means The Crime Lord. 

 

Seeing potential in her he sent one of his agents to capture her, he also arranged so that her absence would not be noticed.  The next three weeks of her life was one of torture and anguishing pain, physical, mental, and emotional.  By the time it was over she would do anything for the Crime Lord. 

 

Once she was his, she was released with a cover story and sent to the police as a mole in their organization.  She was in the perfect place to tamper with evidence, influence investigations, and in other ways subvert the police. 

She would spend her days doing what she could do to offset the evil she knew she was doing, her nights were filled with nightmares.  She knew that it would only get worse if she could not take charge of her life.

 

Then the Crime Lord made a mistake, he had her influence the force to investigate a rival.  During the investigation they arrested a scientist who was working on a new suit of power armor.  When she discovered the suit she knew this was her chance, stealing it she learned how to use it.  Now she is trying to balance the scales as PIXIE. 

 

Personality/Motivation: Janet is a troubled soul looking for redemption.  She lives in terror of the Crime Lord, and still firmly in his pocket.  However she wants to redeem herself.  She lives in dread of her father finding out what she has become, and hopes that her PIXIE identify will give her the strength to stop being scared.

 

She is often short with individuals not because she is mean, but because the stress she is under.  Underneath the tough exterior however is a caring individual, especially when it comes to the victims of domestic crimes.

Powers/Tactics: Like most technological heroes Janet is a cyberpath, a fact she herself does not know.

 

The PIXIE battle armor is designed to shrink its wearer down to four and a half inches.   The suit is armed with moderately powerful Pulse Blasters and a magnetic flight system.  While these systems can be used while the wearer is at full size it is when the user shrinks that the systems operate at full power. 

 

In combat Janet prefers to stay as small as possible and harass her opponents, using her size to avoid being hit while blasting her opponents. 

 

Outside of combat she is a talented detective and crime scene investigator.

 

Resources: Janet has extensive connection with the police force of San Corona.  She also has a number of connections with the criminal element.

 

Campaign Use:  PIXIE provides many story opportunities because of her involvement with the Crime Lord.  Perhaps she has started investigating the heroes in the hope of them being able to cut the cords that connect the Crime Lord to her.

 

As an ally she can also be of use to add an investigator to a group.  However with her secret, she is also a liability.

 

As an adversary she is on both sides of the law.  As an investigator she is relentless and as an agent of the Crime Lord she is motivated to prevent them from succeeding.  

 

Appearance: Janet is an attractive young woman of mixed blood, both Hispanic and Caucasian.  She stands 5’5” and has an athletically slim build.  She wears her mid back length light brown hair loose or in a ponytail, her green eyes often seems sad. 

 

As PIXIE she wears a suit of light power armor, the majority of it is a dark yellow body stocking.  The gauntlets, boots, helmet, belt and half breast plate are a metallic green.
