Just about every link in there I've found is coming up 404And a large number of posts talking about the sites being served with cease and desist orders...

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
Alright, everyone, am I just retarded, or do you have a third, different web based tool you're using to create character sketches? Because I'm going to the one that's in Portugese and I am not seeing how to get anything but a straight on perspective, nothing like the drawings that Fed did for Engram, or that Checkmate did for Raider...

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
Engram1. Nothing on you character real speaks to me why he is a hero. He looks like he would just be a University Professor or a contract agent for a think tank. You even say as much under his personality/motivation.
I think I tried to portray the why in his background - first, he's a Prime, and if you woke up with super powers, wouldn't your first question be "where do I go for the nifty jumpsuit?" and second, he wants to be a role model for other young Hispanic men. If he could be both a professor (or other, see below) and a public Prime, that would be twice the good.
2. Nothing on you character's disads shows me he would not manipulate people at will for any darn reason he liked.I did post about this when Fed brought it up. I guess I don't have any disads that would bind me to behaving myself, but would definitely role play it that way. Do you have any suggestions for Psych Lims, say, that would satisfy you that he not only wouldn't, but couldn't, abuse his powers?
Also, you skill level is high enough why not move a few skills around a tad and join the Metahuman studies department OR become a private contractor (like a mental PI, what is becoming popular with the new tv shows today). Just a thought.Tell me more about this option - I'm curious just what, exactly, you're thinking - like an investigator of the paranormal, or as a regular gumshoe with some advanced tools in his kit?
Requiem
1. On your damage shield, put the NND as LS: Intense Heat, Hardened ED, 10+ rED.
RAW doesn't allow for an NND defense to be based on a certain value of a conventional defense - is that a house rule for Catalyst?
I recommend keep the power personal with about 4 penality skill levels. After you run into some situations where you need to protect others from a hail of gunfire, get the ranged advantage on the power (see above).
I wasn't very well versed with penalty skill roles before this batch of characters. I'll reconsider how best to invest those skill points before I resubmit.

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
I think a more or less normal guy, with some advanced armor and some tools of the trade is very doable on 350 points. Throw in some law enforcement abilities (FED: How much would PIT License be? 5 or 10 points?) and contacts... you would have a solid character. I mean, all you really need to be a lawman is some decent armor and a gun. Judge Dread did it for how long?
Cripes, I wrote that very guy up last night - not for this campaign, but just to work out some ideas I had bouncing through my wee little brain.
Checkmate, if you want to see what I have, just for ideas, PM me and I'll send you the sheet. He's about 25 disad points and a decent backstory from done, but he might jog some ideas for you.

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
Dont kill me under the weight of it all. Besides' date=' the .hdc files you send me can come back around. I have a ready stack of supervillians just itching for some payback [/quote']You heard the man. Flood him with real lemons - I mean total Stooges - to round out his goon squad.
-
Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
Really' date=' the more quality submissions entered the greater chance you will have to play. I want to make a balanced team and the more choices I have... you get the idea.[/quote']Ooh, does that mean I should send in three or five or seventeen more? I'm sure I have them in my "just a bit more polish" pile here somewhere.

Re: Attacks based on Presence (a.k.a. "The Underdog Effect")
I've got to head to the office, so I'm just going to toss this idea in - since it impacts one or more individuals positively and one or more individuals negatively, mightn't it be a Transfer, UBO, of some sort?

Re: Worth a thousand words?
I feel like I'm dominating the thread but I have a bunch of pictures sitting aroundDoes this one inspire any ideas?
I'm pretty sure this guy, who may or may not actually have a name, is made entirely out of antimatter. The gold armor? Part of a suit that provides the magnetic field necessary to keep him all in one piece.

Re: Three Villains, one picture, no ideas.. One Contest...
Cool,I'm going to have to do this again when I have more time to do more drawings.
In a similar vein, Nexus has been posting pics and asking what people think the hero/villain's powers are over in the A Thousand Words thread.

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
Submission for Thebes: Engram(+) or Requiem
-
Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
Zac, I have two potential candidates. Engram was approved, but not selected, for Silverstone. Requiem was tentatively approved before Silverstone was selected for.
I would like your opinion on which of those two characters you would prefer that I submit. I could understand if you wanted to nix the mentalist...

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
So' date=' I've heard from Zac, but do any of the potential Thebes players have feedback on Inertia? Turnabout is fair play, after all.Did you intend to make your Ball Toss power Stun only? I wasn't sure if you intended for it to be a totally safe takedown power or not.
And Zac gave me grief about my enraged - how comfortable are you with the notion that you do have a power that could kill someone (and cheaply, maybe just a few pennies sent at terminal velocity), say someone you think is committing murder, because you lose your cool?

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
Stats are fine.Powers: Put the Power Defense in you Force Field slot and take it down to 5 points.
Were are you going to spend your 2 remaining points and xp?
Wondering if we have different versions of the app or something - I only calculated out having a single unspent point - not sure how I missed even that, but there you are.
Anyway, moved the PowD into the force field, and spent the remaining point plus 5 xp on a contact and two points into my Deduction skill.

Re: Worth a thousand words?
What sort of powers/background would you guys give this young lady? The almost runic power effects make me think cyberkinetic, but the rest of her appearance leans a little more mystic.

Re: Extremely high Charactaristic used in REQUIRES SKILL ROLL
IIRC I made this character for a HERO Central campaign and the GM was very restrictive; this was probably done to comply with the GM's preferences as its not something I would normally require. But anyway' date=' it serves as an example for the "worth -0" camp.[/quote']Interesting. Even with your additional +20 INT, given the active points in the power, you'd only have a 15-, which ought to be worth a quarter point, to be negotiated later if you increased his INT at some point.
BTW, what program do you use to draw your character sketches?

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
Character pic looks a LOT like Engram. That's what I get for posting right before bed. Grabbed the wrong pic, an interim step with a far less useful program.
Powers: Fireball: Energy Blast 9d6, Explosion (+1/2) (67 Active Points)Again, this is over the power limits. I will allow an 8d6 Explosion (60 active points). It even saves you a point. You can take the point and put it in smother fires (bringing it up to 15d6).
Besides that it looks good.
Done and done. And resubmitted for you.

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
Alright, last tweak for the night. I didn't spend my five XP yet, but found ways to make everything else work, I think. Wound up rethinking his costume when he started to look a little too much like a bald Prince Namor...

Re: Who is your Taskmaster?
Oh' date=' no, Simple Simon got fed up with being called a retard, and started a Revenge Squad. See, he's my Taskmaster. Simple Simon's Revenge Squad is for hire when you need thugs or agents.[/quote']Well, then, no problem with the Pieman joining up with Blackbird and the gang at all. And wasn't Little Jack Horner keen on pie-related themes?
-
Re: Who is your Taskmaster?
I want to do Black Bird (and her Four-and-Twenty gang), but who would take seriously a villain obsessed with pie-themed crimes?
Dude, Foxbat has been with us since, I think, first edition Champions. Pie themed crimes ain't no big thing. Add Simple Simon and the Pieman to the gang, and you're all set.

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
There is a consolation prize, though. If Engram is submitted for Thebes, Zac has assured me that the application process will be expedited, as the character has already been vetted. You could submit Requiem instead...or submit both and see which wins out. The point is, Engram has a leg up on being accepted into Zac's game. Good luck, and I hope to see you in Thebes!I'm going to leave the decision entirely up to Zac. He's seen both, he'll know best who fits into his plans, if either one make the cut... we've made pretty good progress on Requiem today, so I can definitely go either way.

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
Now for: Powers do not work through or into water -1/4. Just letting you know that your powers will not work in a rain storm. Your powers wont work indoor under a sprinkler system (warning... you have fire powers... sprinklers respond to heat). You run into a water based enemy and he puts up a water wall or has a force field defined as a water your attacks will not get through. If you take the disad, it will come up. When it comes up you attacks will be snuffed, period.I'm looking for less "it's foggy out, and that's water, so you're a wet fuse" than "he's dove into the Mississippi, your fire blasts are powerless against him." What do you recommend? Is that purely SFX?
I've updated it based on your suggestions, and removed the quarter point lim, just in case it is SFX only.

Re: Catalyst: A Champions campaign on Hero Central
Re-work Requiem with your new history. I would either put in an elemental control (Fire Body) for your force field and movement power. I would put all your attack powers in the multipower.Okay, how does this look now?

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
...machine gun to the center torso, crit hit for 3......all engine...
Only hit the Warhammer took in the battle...
Oooh... the salvage... *drooling sounds*
Ages ago in a similar battle. 2nd round of the combat, landed a 30 ton Mech with jump jets on the head of a 95 ton custom unit called a HoneyBadger, taking it out. Then got tagged and well plastered by an Archer that had been laying back, forced me to punch out of my mech before it went up.
Me, as I fly out of the cockpit: , what a ride!

Can anybody post an updated URL? I keep getting 404 errors on, well, every URL I've found thus far.
