  1. Re: Worst. Hero. Ever.

    My criteria make no sense?

Superman can do anything, can be defeated by nothing, and if something just happens to get the upper hand he has a bigger gadget pool than Reed Richards.

Its something a six year old kid would create when he and his buddies were running around playing in the backyard. He's just bad...so very, very, bad.

Honestly, 100% seriousness to all of the Superman apologists.

If he didn't exist before now, if there was no 'Superman' template even, and he came along today, would he even make it into a comic book?

See "The Sentry" in Marvel Comics. Instead of Kyrptonite, he has mental problems.

  2. Re: Worst. Hero. Ever.

I read somewhere that Americans look as Superman as who we wish we were, and Spiderman as who we actually are. A lot of truth to that, IMO.

As to worst hero ever, my vote goes to Captain Planet. :doi:

You mean I'm really Spiderman!! Wohoo!!! :celebrate

  3. stopping the train

So, now what? Using only his strength, he digs a long painful furrow in the ground that extends well past the carnage of the nuns and orphans. He can lift 25 tons, the freight train weighs several hundred tons. He's just not more powerful than this locomotive.

If you have disabled the engine you are only working against momentum, not the trains strength. Unless you are going downhill, you will stop the train fairly quickly with 25 tons of force. If you push your strength, which seems reasonable fo rthis situation, you get up to 100 tons. You dont have to lift it either, gravity will make this stop eventually anyway, you just have to help out and 25-100 tons of force should be more than enough.

  4. nthing here yet

"We got ours at the office Monday, and we're just across the bay from the printer. Delivery does seem to be unusually slow this week. dw"

I pre-ordered it from FRP and they still don't seem to have it up on their site. They are up north too, I would have thought they would get it quick. Bummer

  5. My FLGS just got theirs in yesterday, here in Orange County, Southern California, and I picked up the copy they were saving for me today.

The chapter dividing pages make it easier to navigate around in the book. It was a great idea.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wonder if we went to the same place?

Where did you get it? I live in Huntington Beach and pre-ordered it from frpgames since they always seem to have things faster than the the WOTC store, which doesn't carry anything but there own product now anyway. I would just like to know wher eany other decent shop near me is.

  6. Let's take Champions. We could easily matchup 3 relatively balanced characters and simply have the luck of the dice allow A to beat B, B to beat C, and C to beat A.

If you can accept this in roleplaying, why can't you accept this in a comic?

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think 3 balanced characters is the problem. It's things like Human Torch defeating Graviton through kindergarten science or Wolverines popularity taking him from "tough mutant with claws who can still be defeated by top level human opponents" to "samurai, master of a thousand martial arts, superhumanly fast god-slicer".

It is those kind of issues that are the most frustrating to fans of continuity and good story telling.

  7. .Huh. I'd assumed it was one of those shows that went for a season or two and went away. Aren't the episodes like 2 years old now? I have no knowledge that it's being made or not being made]

Apparently there were 4 episodes remaining in the current season and they were going to be shown about the time the X2 movie came out. They also were supposed to be renewed for another season. The last 4 have never shown up. The WB web site sucks and ther is no info there.

    Does anyone know more?

  8. I agree megascale would have huge problems with knockback or throwing opponents. It was just a use for megascale that I never considered.

I think when you have done as much mental gymnastics with these rules as a lot of us have over the years, it suprises me when a use for rules comes up that I have never considered before. :D

  9. You can also use the example that guys like Kobe Bryant have some of the best leaping ability in the world but are far from the strongest.

In reality, super speed would also make a huge difference in throwing things that are within your ability to throw with one hand. Baseball, knife etc. The Flash would be able to throw a baseball much further than the Hulk.

This is one of those areas that physics can just be thrown out the window and forgoten, trying to make sense of it is pointless.

Great ideas for the throwing mechanics by using megascale. Trying to match comics is tough. You better put that megascale on knockback too :)

  10. I would love to have a heroes book simply because(like most of my friends) I don't get a chance to play anymore but reading all the material and mentally making characters is still a lot of fun. I might be in the minority but having a good career, family and little time, makes it hard to play but easy to afford books that cost less than taking the family to one movie. Ill buy them all unless the start to become rushed or poor quality.

300 Body an hour isn't phenomenal? If you want him to be the best have everyone else buy the power down the time chart.

Wolverine has been taken down by wounds that took weeks to heal completely. I think I large amount of body and the standard 2 BD regen should be fine for him. That heals a normal human from 0 to full in one minute. Sounds reasonable to me. I understand if you want higher if there are to many characters running around in your world with standard 2 BD and you want him to be better but the effect per minute is a little over the top. Wolverine regulary limps home from battles and heals later, which is slower than than the 2 BD regen by far.

  12. The new Marvel game is already on the shelves and as you can guess it is amazingly simplistic and can not hold a candle to Champions. I think marvel has the worst recod of accurately putting there characters in game terms that I can imagine. It seems like the games are made for kids even though comics themselves have certainly moved on to adult appeal and content quite a while ago. I think the old "handbooks of the marvel universe-deluxe edition are your best bet(even though they are very old now), but nothing beats reading the actual comics regularly and using the characters you know best. I think if you stay away from the really high end ones it is challenging but fun to convert them.

  13. I would definitely give Superman, WW, and MM a much larger PD than ED. It seems almost a nightly occurrence that one of them goes down to an electricity based attack. Either that or they just all have 2X stun vs. Electricity.

The whole team seems to have resistant defences as none of them are ever seriously injured by getting smashed into and through walls.

One thing for sure is the Morgan LeFey of the show has a lot of points, since she could handle the whole team at once.
