  1. Re: Time Travelling "Historian"

The Economaster loves the idea of someone using innovative technology for profit...and even the black market is run by normal market forces. Stay out of this guy's way, or give him some advice on how to sell his goods for maximum benefit. Otherwise, focus on buying a way home.

Golem cares less about books, the important ones would be divinely protected in his mind. Once he figured out he was in the past, he would take off and start the process of 'correcting' a great deal of tragic Jewish history througought the ages.

  2. When fighting a magic-based supervillian, he/she activates a known 'doomsday device' type magic item... a crystal that when it 'detonates', destroys everything within a planetary radius... and un-weaves it from reality: destroying people's 'souls' and destroying all version of those people or objects on all dimensions/time lines.

Shortly before the object detonates, your character manages to get his/her hands on it and... it stops. It continues to glow and hum, but is no longer brightening. After defeating the villain, scientific or magical information gathering reveals that the item reacted to your powers/life essence/whatever to stop the dimensional breakdown, but only as long as you are in contact with it. No one is sure, but it is suspected that it will blow moments after you release it... perhaps instantly.

You now hold the fate of several realities worth of worlds in your hand... and you can't likely hold this thing for the rest of eternity. WWYCD?

  3. A character I am building is a nature spirit, with one of its multiple forms as invisible, intangible, grow 'to fit a natural feature' (like a forest or river)... and wants a way to keep an eye on the activities of people and things 'inside' of its body.

Can one perceive inside their own body without special senses (if invisible and what not)?

If not, what kind of Sense would it need?

Are all sensory perceptions inside its body considered at 0 range for the purposes or range penalties?

  4. Re: Would you allow the white knight defense?

Powers that inherently cost 0 END must take a Costs END Limitations before legally (by RAW) being placed in an EC.

Ultimate Supermage says that this is not so... and also says that it is OK for 'racial' ECs to have Life Support if appropriate, in their character building section concerning Golems and the like.

  5. Re: Fallen Son

The Economaster would buy the university, and then set the staff to dig through Alister's things for clues as to the baby's value. If science and mystic senses fail to reveal anything special about the baby, he would see if anyone on the open or interdimensional market would be interested in purchasing the 'child of the fallen lord'.

Golem has experience of being born 'cursed', and would have more sympathy. Not able to raise the child himself, he knows several reputable and moral mystics whom he would entrust the child's care with, but would keep an eye on the situation in case things went bad for the child.

  6. Re: Gravitic Influences of a Neutronium Man

On second thought, it would be more like 'atomic man', since I think the pressures would be fissionable (and fusionable, at different ranges) fairly quickly.

He does more good to the community in a highly specialized reactor chamber powering the Eastern Power grid than in his crime fighting efforts.

  7. Re: Gravitic Influences of a Neutronium Man

How does he move with all the solid air compressed against him? At that pressure, he would quickly start 'planet' building around himself, starting with the air becoming a superheated solid mass around him.

Also, he must have a great deal of life support as well... 'no breathing, survive high pressure environment, linked to Neutronium form?'

  8. Re: Wrath Of The Anicent Pharaoh

The Economaster will try to buy up all the potential Egyptian artifacts he can and see if he can appease the mummy with them... or just cash in on the increased demand. Otherwise, he will keep a wary eye on the situation, especially if the undead army threatens the world economically (attacks the Suez canal, begins to march on OPEC countries)... in which case he buys up the later battle gear and an army of mercenaries to take care of it forcibly.

If things are settled peaceably with the mummy, try to modernize his ancient wealth into a sound investment portfolio... and exploit mass undead labor opportunities.

  9. Re: A Magic: THe Gathering player

Endurance reserve lands... and always on the lookout for the "Moxes", those obvious accessible focuses that boost the power reserve for free? In fact, any of the 'Power 9' would be some strong effects.

Disadvantages: Hunted: Constantly Watched by the Much More Powerful 'DCI Judge'

  10. Re: A Magic: THe Gathering player

Variable Power Pool... Uncontrollable random set of 40 powers... all set to a 'shared endurance reservoir' pool (or 5) that recharge every round. The powers are changeable only when he goes home to his collection.

Big emphasis on Summons, but almost any power is with proper planning.

  11. Re: The edge of a world

Not entirely inescapable, but I can see the problem... on the other hand, it will cost a great deal of points. It isn't like I was going to make it mildly hostile and banish others there as a form of attack (I thought about it during the build); but rather a safe place to heal and meditate.

Although it could make an excellent prison realm... put on an AoE X2 penetration Transformation: Mind = Transform any mind into a pacifist law abiding one, and leave people there until they reform.

  12. Re: The edge of a world

One last question, I swear ;)

What is the best effect to make it more difficult to teleport into or out of your private dimension without permission? AoE Entangles? Force Fields? AoE Suppression? Some weird interpretation of hardened base armor?

  13. Re: The edge of a world

A related questions... how would you build the effect on a different dimension that time passes differently there? For example... not at all? If you stepped into the realm, spent ten years there, then left and no time (or one round) had passed?

I know this is a dangerously exploitive potential... does the 'exit' of the base have a 'time travel: one location, one time: the location entered, the round after you entered'? Or is there a more elegant way to do this?

  14. Re: The edge of a world

That is kind of what I thought... part of the costs of the base already. You don't need extra for the space around your satellite (beyond paying for space), the lava around your super villain's volcano-lair (beyond being remote), and you don't need to pay extra for your extra-dimensional space's... nothing...

  15. Re: Hawaii Hero

Hawaiian mythology also likes vicious shark-demons! If you want a gritty-antihero feel you could always exploit this. Goes with your water breathing too.

  16. How would you build an edge on your base that has nothing beyond it? For example, you have a base that is a separate dimension, defined as a 'spatial bubble', or 'the inside of a genie's lamp' or something to that effect. Someone inside couldn't really leave physically, there would be no where to go.

A space base has a vacuum beyond it's walls (which it doesn't seem to pay extra for), but even that doesn't have the 'edge of reality' feel I was looking for. Do I just get it for free? Do I have to buy a very very powerful forcefield that affects incorporeal surrounding my base? A triggered teleporting effect that pushes you back to the square you started on?

  17. Re: Superbeing Rights Debate

The courts would have to rule on both the objective reality of the soul' date=' and its status as the seat of identity. There are no precedents that apply so it would be a history-making case.[/quote']

I am not sure the law ever mentions a soul... but in any case, I am not so sure it would be hard to prove the existence of one in a super-hero world... Dr. Wacky's Soul-o-meter (Sense: Soul) has been helping determine if beings have to tithe for years now!

  18. Re: Superbeing Rights Debate

Given that DNA paternity tests only test for key markers, and are not full Genome comparisons... a few false identities and the scam could still probably work. The genetic engineering required might make the scheme unprofitable, but hey... what does cost/benefit analysis ever mean to a Golden/Silver age villain?

Here is a good one... what do you do with a villain who you cannot kill... he is immortal, regenerates, reincarnates, whatever... the death sentence won't work, and he could conceivably live through 'multiple life sentences'. A true life sentence for a crime would be cruel and unusual. After 1000 years of imprisonment, no matter how heinous the original crime one could build a case for rehabilitation. Lets say he was a natural born citizen, so you cannot just 'deport' him to another dimension or something.

Also, can a body hopping hero/villain run for president more than two terms... what measure is 'self' to someone who can hop from body to body while maintaining a cohesive mind?

  19. Re: Superbeing Rights Debate

Genetic blends who were not brought to term in a host mother would simply have no parents.

What if it was a one-mother, multiple-father situation?

The Trailerparkress' master plot... to collect child support from the world's 100 richest men while raising only one child... muahahahah!

  20. Re: Summonable Hero

I think sticking with summon is your best bet. According to Ghost Angel, the interpretation of what constitutes a task is up to the player and GM. So it'd be perfectly reasonable to say, one fight (or a scene if you prefer) is one task.. so he beats the baddies, and flies off with Chip to some other crime.

We are pretty lose with the 'tasks' thing... one task is 'Protect Chip', the rest are 'fight that guy', 'save her', etc...

If I feel I need more tasks, I can always buy up my Ego with the limitation: -1/2 Only for Summoning Tasks

  21. Re: Summonable Hero

Also don't forget that a summoned creature brought in is stunned for the first phase. So when the Captain gets there, he can't act until his next phase I think.

He is not stunned! He just has to say his 'I've come to save the day!' catch phrase. It is only fair to the enemy to announce his arrival...

A more experienced friend of mine says that I should have built this as an Multiform...

Form 1: Knowledgeable and somewhat sneaky Chip,

Form 2: Brick Captain Amazing with 'cannot combine' Duplicate Amazing Lad, who (like all sidekicks) loses all his usefulness except for as an 'Aid' cheerleader.
