  1. Re: Total NEWB question - Throwing Badger This is a profoundly perverse and silly idea. I like it. In fact, it has inspired me to think up a character concept where all the powers revolve around throwing various kinds of flora ad fauna.
  2. Re: How to Build: A Really Silly Thing Clinging will do it. You will need to make it persistant so it doesn't go off if running into the wall knocks captain gecko out. On silly ideas, I have one for a steam golem. He has a steam blast, a heat based damage sheild and flight that works by steam jets. He is made of metal. Does not sound silly at all, until you realise he is called... Iron Man.
  3. Re: Detecting plants The character sounds like a sap and the whole idea is rooted.
  4. Re: Toolkitting for Day after Ragnarok Oh, yes. Having such a character around could ruin the carefully created atmosphere of a campaign. But as a humourous character, I like to think it is a good one. I was going to play Spellweaver Beaver in a campaign. The GM asked me not to, not because he was a silly animal, but because of what beaver is slang for. Nothing would happen due to all the smutty jokes. If the reader can put what the term is slang for firmly from their mind for a moment, one of the reasons I wanted to play a beaver is they are wonderful. The little things build elaborate dams and systems of canals.
  5. Re: Toolkitting for Day after Ragnarok This is a purely humourous contibution. I have a perfect character for the campaign, Spellweaver Beaver. He was a normal beaver that unkowingly attempted to gnaw down Ygdrasil, the world tree for a beaver dam. This provoked a coma during which he underwent a series of shamistic visions and journeyed to higher planes, returning sentient with mystic powers. He has follwed in the footsteps of Odin in hanging himself from a tree for a week in search of wisdom and strives to prevent Ragnarok. His initial plan, to build a giant beaver dam to imprison the Midguard Serpent, failed as there was not enough wood in the world. Spellweaver Beaver now promotes enviromental causes and reforestation to remedy this. His war cry "Dam you villian" is often uttered while using his area of affect entangle, a beaver dam.
  6. Re: Acronyms I don't fully agree. I think the Hero system is a relatively hard RPG to learn. In many systems, Dungeons and Dragons is a notorious example, its a lot quicker and easier to get a character up and running. With Hero it takes longer and is much more complicated.. And the Hero system is demanding on the GM. You always need a good GM. But in Hero you need a GM who understands the system well, does some work on what sort of magnitudes they want in the campaign and is prepared to say "NO" a lot to powergamers. Don't get me wrong, the hero system is great. But it needs a knowledgeable GM with a firm hand. The complexity allows you to do almost anything, but makes it harder to learn and subject to abuse.
  7. Re: Acronyms You are quite right, I made all 3 up. I was purely joking and wasn't trying to dump shit on anyone. Acronymns for people who do and don't like acronymns and irritating military acronymns. I would have thought it looked like a joke.
  8. Re: Acronyms Sorry, I forgot you are a ZAP, and therefore unlikely to know what a ZAP is. A ZAP is a Zero Acronymn Person, like you. A CARP is a Comprehensively Acronymn Relishing Person, like me. If you think Champions is bad for you, try reading anything about the military. The GIMAs [Gratuitious Irritating Military Acronymn] will drive you mad.
  9. Re: Acronyms You have a problem. You are a ZAP playing a game clearly designed for CARPs.
  10. Re: How to make the Ultimate Character I am actually capable of making perfect sense. I may not do it very often, but it is possible.
  11. Re: How to make the Ultimate Character Is having a negative characteristic explitly prohibitted? I haven't played much champions since the early 90's, so am not a full bottle on the current rules. And my current GM would not even allow me to take a 2x vulnerability to experience points as a 20 point disadvantage. I thought that was most unreasonable.
  12. Re: How to make the Ultimate Character You are a deep and subtle thinker Lucius. Nice to see someone getting into the spirit of things. The brilliant idea can be further refined by getting your body down a long way, minus a billion say. That will generate a couple of billion points for some useful powers and effectively rule out being healed to death. Just make sure your character avoids Jesus like the plague.
  13. Re: How to make the Ultimate Character OK, lets assume this is correct. What you should do is continue the process, and buy your body down to a negate figure. Then you autofire yourself and destroy the universe that way. OK, you are dead, but so is everyone else. Generally guys, I know I am being totally stupid. Thats the whole idea.
  14. The way to make the ultimate character is as follows. It seems weird at first but keep reading and the point will emerge. 1 Reduce your strength, constitution, desterity and every characteristic, figured or otherwise, aside from body to zero, and reduce your body to one. Do the same with your starting movement and everyman skills. This produces a large number of points. 2 Give yourself appropriate disadvantages: as many as you are allowed. [ You may be wondering whats so good about a character that cannot move or think. Bear with me and the full genius will become apparent.] 3 Buy the area of effect advantage on your body. 4 Spend the remainder of your points buying the increased area advantage on your body. 5 Calculate the volume of your body. As the costs of 3 and 4 are minute, your 1 point of body only costs 2 points, this will be very large indeed. I calculate the diameter of one character as billions of light years. 6 Start the campaign. 7 Your character will take up an area far greater than your game world, solar system, galaxy and likely the universe. Since you start on your game world, or more correctly it starts inside you, you will destroy it. A character that destroys the game world, solar system et al w/o trying has got to be the most powerful there is.
