  1. My problem is, I don't have any idea on the levels for either "ICONS" or "M&M", so don't have a base reference of power levels to work from.  Without a reference on the level of power, such as stregnth, or how much damage a blast would do, it's hard to conceptulize with characters from those other games. Figuring out the powers and how to create them in HERO isn't a problem.

I do own those books Rhino.  However, I like to use characters from various sources, call me crazy!

  2. Having both Greek gods and the Roman counterparts in the same universe raises some questions, however.  How do you justify their concurrent existences in the same universe while staying in story?

If you've ever watched Hercules: the Legendary Journeys, and Xena the Warrior Princess (superheroes for ancient greece in a way) they had gods from almost every mythology within the shows at one point or another.  Loved those shows actually!

  3. OK I've been in contact with Jason who handles this kind of thing and he's on vacation right now, but will be back in a couple of weeks so I would like to have a proposal ready to give to him so he can pitch it to the guys who own the Champions IP.

What do you need done that I could do?

  4. The idea would be an easy to read, step by step intro process that teaches you the game as you play.  Possibly where you could play through the book, even if you didn't own Champions Complete or 6th Edition.  It wouldn't have the full game rules, just what you needed at the moment.  Someone could play through all the adventure books, and then have a pretty good grasp of how to play (and/or GM) the Hero system.  Of course, they buy the rulebook to get the full version.  But it would be similar to when I first started roleplaying, and joined a D&D group.  I didn't have the books or anything, but I played a fighter.  People told me "roll this".  I didn't know what I was doing, I didn't understand how magic worked, but it didn't take long before I had a basic idea of how the game functioned.  That's what Hero needs -- a very easy and simple introduction that leaves out all the hard crap.

IMHO placing the rules within the adventures, scenarios, whatever you want to call them is not the way to go! 1st of all, the rules are in Champions Complete, no need to put them in the new stuff, avoiding any copyright issues, and someone within the playing group should at least own a copy! That's how I got into RPG's without having the books, another player owned whichever book, for whichever system. Until I would either buy the book, or not play the system. (I completely know what you're saying about being told what to do untill you learned however!)

Setting up scenarios, adventures, etc. and pointing the newbies to the page or pages the particular rules needed in Champions Complete is much more practical and probably legal.

  5. Here's the 6th ed version of Crusader that I have used in my campaign. It's built as a begining hero at 400points however.

  6. Built mine from the write-ups from the old comics beefing them up to 6th edition with what I thought was best for each.  Somewhere, some time ago I had found a write-up of Gargoyle, and did the same with him.

I still use the Gaurdians and the 4th Ed Champions as NPC groups in my campaign world. Have changed the name of the 4th ed champs and also use the the 6th ed Champions with Nighthawk added to them. As well as many of the other hero teams that have been published.  My world is based on the published Champs universe to some degree, but as in the comics, it diverged into an alternate earth of my making! That way I can have whatever I want!

Such as...villians I really liked for one reason or another from Enemies for hire

    Enemies: Villiany Unbound

    Remover

  7. Made some corrections to the list as per Lord Liaden and Steriaca's notes. Still leaves a lot of lost villians!

  8. So what you're saying Lord Liaden, aside from what you stated above, the list looks pretty much ok? As far as villians who didn't make it into 6th that is. I didn't look at the 5th edition books in making this list (probably should have) as I was only looking to see which didn't step up to 6th. Thanks for adding the updates you did, I'll have to take a look at them in the books!

  9. So looking through my books, these are the villians from Enemies 1, 2, and 3, that I didn't find in the 6th edition villian books. Some however from those three books were in Classic Enemies that aren't in the 6th books, and I've listed them under the Classic Enemies book. If you see any I have listed that were in the 6th books and I mistakenly have them listed, let me know!

  10. Deathstroke is actually my all time favorite hero system villian team, don't know why, just liked them!  However, in the 6th ed universe, all but Requiem and Frost have supposedly been vaporized. Then again, with the way villians have a way of escaping these sort of things, it's highly possible they survived! (In my campaign this never happened and I simply updated the remaining members to 6th.)

  11. Just my two-cents here, but there's an old saying ... KISS. The more characters provided, the more problems that can arise for newbies to run into. However, if you provide small combat scenarios that deal with a few character types, where they can learn those types, and then other types in other scenarios, it may be easier to learn how the different character types work as opposed to a multi-part adventure where a player could choose any of 12-15 characters.

Once these scenarios are run through, then maybe include an adventure where they can choose among them. Might be a bit extra work, but I think it would pay off in the long run as it gives theplayers a chance to learn each character type before they get fully into the actual role-playing aspect.

    What do you think?

  12. Not really, but I won't mind if there were stats for 4th ed, 5th ed, 6th ed, and Champions Complete.

What are the difference between 6th ed and Champs Complete? This is a real question, I 'm not being a smart allec, I'm really not sure! Just recently switched from 4th going to Champs Complete, so I missed the switching from 6th to Complete.

  13. Christopher's sheet is great, I'm using it almost in the manner your talking about with three new players, and it's working wonderfully to break them into the system.

Had three pre-gens with all their powers and such on Christophers sheet stating what each could do and how it worked written out in plain english.

Then, we also had normal full character sheets with all the gory details so they could see them and how the system works with the points and such. Basically just running combat scenarios to get things figured out, as the three have all role-played in other systems before.  Once they have things figured out, we'll be setting up their own characters.
