  1. Re: Captain American Build 350 pts

I see what your saying' date=' I never thought of it like that, I just looked at it as the shield is one of a kind.[/quote']

Yeah, but he never 'expends' the shield or has particularly more trouble recovering it than someone with any other focus. If you're getting the price break from the disadvantage, it had better actually be a disadvantage.

  2. Re: Dextracardial

Your heart isn't off to one side, it's almost completely in the center. The difference of position is maybe a few percent of the total target area. I really can't see that an attack on your heart is liable to miss because of that.

Unless you spend a lot of time getting shot in the chest, and can reasonably expect to recover from sucking chest wounds, I can't imagine that this would be worth even a single point.

  3. Is 'douche' a banned word here?

I... I don't understand your motivation in this. You want to trick your players into using bad characters so that they will be forced to make their own? You're not worried that this could just turn them off of the game entirely? Or that they might end up liking the characters and keeping them anyway, despite your best-laid plans? Or that this kind of passive-agressive manipulation makes you seem kind of like a douche?

I have to say that if you tried this with me, my first reaction would not to be to do more work to keep playing in your game.

  4. Re: Multipower Gadgeteer

You're going to have to be a little more specific about what you want, otherwise you're just going to get utterly random builds. Theme? Tech level? I could give you a multipower user that can use various kitbashed zipguns to launch gimmick ammunition, or an alien cyborg that uses a cyberkinetically linked nanofabrication factory and shaped local hard light fields to simulate a relatively narrow range of effects, or a handy dude with a tool belt who knows how to use junk creatively. Or I could do something completely dissimilar to any of those examples; gadgeteers are a pretty wide-open field.

  5. I would so rock a Potemayo campaign

I'm never sure what people mean when they cite 'anime' as a 'genre'.

Are you talking about Ghost in the Shell? Slayers? Maison Ikkoku? Gundam? Berserk? One Piece? Toaru Majutsu no Index? ... Potemayo?

I'd think that, say, Ouran Host Club would be a somewhat awkward setting to game in using HERO, but you could probably do it if you really, really wanted to.

If you mean, can you play in Japanese? I don't know if there's going to be support in other languages. You might have to settle for a fansubbed version.

  6. Re: Adaptive Camouflage

Why did your GM nix Invisibility? Was it because he felt it was overpowered, or because it ruined plots he had in mind? Does he ban Invisibility (the power) in the game entirely, or did he specifically not want you to be able to cloak your parked car? If you use some other power construct to do exactly the same thing, isn't that really trying to do an end-run around him? I don't know how you brought it up; maybe he had an idea that you wanted to be driving around in an invisible truck, running down criminals in the streets. Maybe he has some plan that he wants your car jacked, and your insistence on having anti-carjack invisibility wrecks that.

If this is something you want, you need to talk with your GM to make sure it's okay, and to make sure it's not just one of you being a dick and trying to run something by the other.

For the record, Shapeshift works fine for changing colors, but it might not give you Concealment/camoflage bonuses if you don't pay for it. Again, ask your GM.

  7. Re: Adaptive Camouflage

What do you want it to do, if not become effectively invisible? Do you just want to foil APBs, or do you also want bonuses in foliage, or what?

If you know exactly how you want this effect to behave, there exists a construct in HERO that closely approximates it. If you aren't specific about what you want, it's gonna be hard to help you.

  8. Re: Riddick's Eyeshine

Variable Limitation on his Nightvision? He either has the OAF(?)limitation for his goggles, or the Side Effects limitation for his Susceptibility to bright light.

Kinda like the Cyclops builds people keep brainstorming around here.

  9. Re: cyberpsychic

Transmit wouldn't let you control computers anymore than being able to speak would let you control people; but it would let you use your Computer Programming skill at a distance, like a human modem. It would also let you use any other computer-related skills you might have, which obviates the awkwardness I forsee with advantaged skills.

  10. Re: cyberpsychic

Limited TK is sometimes used to simulate manipulating machinery. I'm not 100% on the legality of putting those advantages on a skill.

Maybe a form of Detect with Transmit to interface with computers?

  11. Re: Fighting Styles

VPP. There's precedent for using multipowers in a VPP, if you can't think of any other way to fit the points in.

My perennial complaint is that Multiform is clunky and should be abolished in favor of Multipower constructs.
