  1. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game

Mostly Champions Server' date=' but we also have characters on the other servers too. I have chars on both Champion and Freedom primarily. My Global ID is @Battlestar1[/quote']

Cool, I just finished patching it last night. I'll have to wait till I get off work till I can play around with it.

  2. Re: Two Weapon Fighting as SPFX

Well, if he doesn't mind that it would only be with his "Special" pistols, then I wouldn't see much of a problem with it. But if you buy them as two separate powers you could just do it as a multi power attack. I have a similar character to that, although I did buy all of the two weapon modifiers as well, so that I could do the same thing with any other pistol as well as mine.

  3. Great Idea Ghost, I think I may steal that for the game I am in currently.

T K D, my group is of similar construction to yours in that, most of the players, as well as, the GM are all relatively new to the system. I am one of two players who know the system well, and I tend to help run the combats and act as the GMs helper. The real trick is having someone who won't use player knowledge in a fight be the Gm helper, I admit it's sometimes difficult, but seeing as how the character I run has probably the least damaging attacks in the group, it kind of works out, since even when I know what the bad guys can do I can't really take advantage of it too much:D

  4. Costume info

Well, with my characters, it really all depends on the character in question. I'll give you a rundown on my three favorite characters.

The Rocketeer - While he isn't the original Golden Age Rocketeer, his battlesuit does look like the original Rocketeer's outfit, with a few changes such as the weapons gauntlets. And before you ask, no he doesn't have a gun:D

The Gunman - Yeah, I know it's a cheesy name, but it was the best I could come up with. He is very much a dark avenger type character who, surprise, surprise, uses a pair of longslide .45 auto pistols. His costume is more or less a combination of The Shadow and The Phantom. He wears a black kevlar bodysuit and domino mask, like The Phantom's and over this he has the long coat and fedora like the Shadow wears, he also has a purple scarf that he uses to cover his lower face. He wears a two-gun rig like the Phantom's but the buckle has two pair of lightning bolts in a double v pattern. He also carries a second pair of pistols in a double shoulder rig. This character actually began in my head as just a costume design that I expanded upon.

Hmmm, now what character should I tell you about as far as costumes goes.. I think I will go with...

Lionheart - Lionheart is an 8 1/2' tall feline humanoid with very leonine features, the whole Lion's mane thing going on with him. His costume is pretty simple and straightforward. He wears a chainmail shirt and loincloth. He also carries a no-dachi.

Well, there are three of my favorite characters, even though two of them haven't even been converted to FrED yet.:D

  5. I still like my Golden age team acronym

    Allied Super Squad.:D

Heh, Forgot to add that we had that Acronym plastered over every piece of equipment we had...just cause the GM hated it:D

  6. I would probably say buy it as an Aid since who you use it on keeps their skills, also I would limit it to only as many points in that skill they had. That way someone who was barely able to keep a car between the painted lines won't allow you to become Mario Andretti:D

  7. Ok here's one from my groups Warhammer FRP campaign. The group was just about to leave town on our great quest when the dwarf in the party pipes in with this line

Dwarf: "Before we leave town, I am going to find me a whore!"

GM: "Sorry there aren't any dwarven whores here."

Dwarf: "Damn! Then I go home and kiss my wife and child goodbye."

That was the start of our campaign...and we still have a very lecherous dwarf.

  8. The only rules raping I can think of would be Tashi the skunk that was more dense than the planet earth. I don't know how many levels she had but the player had worked the math and she literally weighed more than the planet earth, all on 250 pts. This was also the character without a brain...

Tashi had Desol Only vs mental powers.:D

Unfortunately I was never able to purloin the character sheet to peruse the 10 pages of scribbles:D

My vote (and this is fairly obscure): "Bad Medicine for Dr. Drugs", an adventure with teenage heroes in high school, made for both Champions and Superworld.

You know I actually have this adventure....and I must agree it was truly horrible..:D

  10. FW woes

This is just a thought here, I don't know if it works this way or not, but here is my idea on how to limit FW if you are having problems with it being too powerful. How about making Hardened defenses apply vs the effect of FW. In other words each level of hardening cancels one halving of armor, be it AP, Penetrating, or FW roll. Of course that might make Hardened Defenses a little too powerful:)

But that might tone things down a little, or a lot, who knows just me tossing out an idea for perusement:rolleyes:

  11. Good point Shin, at least I have most of the state between myself and this whole....thing...

On a side note only partially related the only LGS in my area is not one of my favorite establishments for buying anything. But that is more of a personality clash between myself, a couple of my friends and the Lawyer who runs said gamestore. Heck I ended up buying half my Hero books in San Antonio because of it. So not all gamestores are run by nice friendly gamers, thats what makes it hard on me hearing about the possibility of us Herophiles doing something like that.

  12. Well, one of the first things I see would be maybe drop your speed down by a point or two, also why do you need such a large end battery? the most end you would conceivably use in one turn would be 42, of which you would get back 20 every post twelve so maybe reduce that a bit. Also you spent an awful lot on your STUN. Those look to be the best places to shave some points.

Um, how do you go about checking something like that? Did the guy just happen to have his chainsaw with him?

I don't know, I just remember reading that in an article about the .475

  14. Glorious Death scenes

I have a similar scene in a Mekton campaign a friend of mine was running, but to truly understand the setting I need to give some background....this might take awhile, so bear with me...

It all started with our first Mekton campaign run by this Gm, in which all but one of the PCs was killed off by the bad guys, I was the lone survivor, My online ID is that character's name by the way. The story revolved around our group helping to build a one of a kind Mekton, kinda like Wing-Zero from Gundam, a machine that was just too advanced and powerful. I was meant to be the test pilot for the Mech, but before we were able to fully complete it we were attacked from multiple enemy organizations and the creator of said prototype was murdered and I was blasted in the face with a blaster (I barely survived). The prototype was then stolen by one of the other party members who flew off in it and blew it to kingdom come.

Now in the new campaign, my character, under a new identity, joined with a new group of PCs and after quite a few adventures gang up with the daughter of the original X1s designer, who rebuilds the X1, which gets stolen, we retrieve it but no one has the guts to ever pilot, it is considered a death trap, which it is, until we are forced to rescue an NPC who my character was madly in lust with. So the whole group assaults the moonbase and rescue the damsel in distress, who then turns out to be a stark raving loony, ala Akira power level psionic mind control, the Team leader who was warned about her and told she must die tries to kill her, but me being a psychopath myself stop him and tell him to get everyone out before the entire Eath Defense Forces show up, which they were about to do, and after much thought tell everyone to get the hell out of here I'll stop them in the X1. After a very long and drawn out battle, everyone gets out and as the ship is about to warp out, THe X1, severely damaged but still in one piece lands in the hanger. When they finally get the nerve to open the cockpit, and hose out my remains...yes there was that little left of me..think of a vehicle that can move at about mach 10 and turn on a literal dime, yet the cockpit has NO inertial dampening system, I was little more than a red goo...

But Chance's legacy lived on, i got to tape a message to each of the other PCs, as well as the NPCs. And a good cry was had by all at my seeming noble sacrifice.

What I didn't say was that if I had survived that battle I would have ended up slaughtering anyone who had even threatened the love of my life :D

But I decided discression was the better part of valor, that and some of the other Player's would have gotten really pissed off.:D

As far as ammo, I think most people reload their own for .50 cal Browning. The ammo for the machineguns is not loaded to extreme tolerances since it is to be used in a machinegun. For target work a higher quality of ammo is desirable. You can easily buy the components through mail order gun supply shops. Its not cheap and few reloading presses can handle a round that size which is an extra cost since you need to buy a large press for it. Also I think the Barrett is up to $6,000 or so, it was $3,000 in the eighties before the rash of gun grabber policies under the Clinton administration.

Hmm.. I could have sworn that it was a Barrett for sale at the last gunshow, but maybe it was a different company's gun.. or maybe it was a well worn personal transfer..
