  1. Re: Whattya call it?

RevolverPunk, maybe? If I remember my history correctly, the revolver didn't come into common use until after the Civil War. (Please correct me if I'm wrong :straight: )You could connect this "newfangled" piece of technology with the magic and anachronistic gear in the setting.

I also thought SaddlePunk, but that might be a little silly.

  2. Re: Sci-Fi Game or Porno Flick?

Cubicle Hero: deal with sadistic bosses, idiot cow-orkers, and horrible traffic, in an environment where the greatest rebellion you can get away with is tacking "Dilbert" cartoons to your cubicle's walls.

And remember, if your character gets fired, you're out of the game!

I'd play that one (for the record, I am an ardent Dilbert fan).

'Course, one I've heard bandied about is Grade School HERO. Smear around finger paint, brave the horrors of cafeteria food, and find as many opportunities as you can to bug Teacher. Good opportunities for Toon HERO. (Yep, another one guaranteed to make Steve Jackson nuts.)

  3. Re: Open or hidden dice

The current GM I'm playing with does all his combat rolls outside the screen in plain sight. And it makes me laugh every time because he rolls like crap!

Ow. :weep: That can't be good for the ego. Thankfully, I roll near the average most of the time. I guess he needs to hide his for luck.

  4. Re: Open or hidden dice

I hide rolls for things the player characters shouldn't be certain about: secret doors, surprise attacks, and other such nasty things. I also hide damage rolls for reasons other people have posted above.

In my (short) GMing career, I've never had to fudge yet. I think I would only do it if the players were genuinely and uncontrollably out of options.

Who was that, Conan the Librarian?

    Mags

Hmm . . . actually, he's the twin brother of one of the player characters (a corporate housewife). STR 60, Double Knockback for that STR, and a power called Human Ball Squeeze (Transform;exactly what it sounds like  ). Conan the Librarian? Maybe.

  6. Re: Silliest Disadvantage Ever

    Hello everyone! Just delurked...

Back when I HAD a campaign (sigh) I remember a player try "Takes X2 STUN & BODY from falling into Black Holes". This, in a campaign with NO space travel (which still wouldn't make it reasonable...)!!!

That must have been one tough PC . . .

The silliest one I've ever thought up was for a librarian NPC. Berserk, whenever he sees books returned damaged or late. Mind you, this is a comedy campaign and I am studying to be a librarian myself. Doesn't hold a candle to most of these, I'm afraid.

  7. Re: The Malvans

Probably can't happen, due to the Slug curse.

For somebody who doesn't have Terran Empire ( yet ), what are some benchmarks for Malvan tech?? What, exactly, can they do??

From what I remember, they have teleportation, probability drives, and matter creation devices. ATRI 14 is potent stuff . . .

Bet no male enemy commander ever messed with that one :D

I like to use unusual occupations. Stuff like Hierophant, Wainwright, and Inquisitor.
