  1. So I'm going through HERO and trying to make random things for various settings. I started thinking about Dragonlance and how a wizard would handle the waxing and waning of the moons. Essentially, when the moon is at high sanction (full moon) a wizard usually gains some sort of benefit on his spells. Low sanction (new moon) provides hinderances. Also if 2 moons are at high sanction they get even MORE bonuses , and if all 3 moons are high sanction magic becomes rediculously powerful (this happens very rarely) . So my question is how would you go about simulating this? I was looking at buying "trigger" as a naked advantage with other advantages on it,or something . The thing is I simply want the magic spells to increase in power when the condition is triggered (aka full moon / no moon). So what do you suggest?

  2. Re: Tolkien Elves in Hero

Eh, to go and say they are demigods is kind of a stretch. The Valar are gods (really angels/children of Illuvatar) who chose to go to earth. The Maia /Istari / Wizards /Sauron are demigods more so than elves. The elves were just the first born, they can die almost as easily in combat as men although your reference does say they can take a bit more punishment , in theory it seems that way, but in most of the books elves usually die in wars as easily as man... They indeed can not die of sickness or old age... but that's just about it. Also they can use a bit of magic but nothing as powerful as the Istari. The one thing that gives men the edge over elves are their adaptability and the fact that men can die and make their own fate while the elves can not. Also elves can die from grief, so that might be something to look at as well.

  3. I thought it would be a neat idea to be a planeswalker from MTG. I figured for mana I would ditch end and replace it with the 5 types of mana. So I figure to simulate drawing "mana" the character would gain 1 mana of your choosing every 12th segment. Any suggestions or anything?

  4. Are there any sheets (akin to say... character sheets) for making powers/items/power frameworks? Is there a sheet out there that concisely and uniformly allows you to fill in what power it is , what advantages and limitations there are with costs and all of that? Also it would be nice for a power framework sheet as well, which are just more advanced powers as I understand. If there isnt I suppose I'll have to whip out the old excel and make something of my own. I just wanted to know if something existed out there already. I love things like GM sheets that allow you to keep track of your own items and story and stuff like that. Anyway, thanks for your time !

    Long live HERO !
