  1. Re: Tramp Steamer Info and Deckplans UPDATE Finally, I was looking for 'historical accuracy' to see if tramp steamer could travel up the Congo. UNGAWA!!!! Scroll down for an 1880s map on the first link. As for the second link visual resource for making a deck plan for a small river tug - giant river snake or angry savages attack at night!!!! http://kosubaawate.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html http://americanhistory.si.edu/onthemove/collection/object_20.html
  2. Re: Tramp Steamer Info and Deckplans i've been thinking about dimensions for combat purposes - I reckon (after watching PJ's King Kong) the corridors are no wider than 5 feet meaning cramped conditions. The crew would hardly be seen, working the wheel, stocking the fires, cook in the kitchen, which means, within reason, the PCs have the run of the flying bridge, the top of the wheel house, boat deck and shelter deck for relaxing, fishing - I've even let the players bring on board clay pidgeon shooting equipment. As for Pulp Adventures there's a list at the end of the pdf!!!
  3. After decidng that where my players need to get to isn't a tourist destination I needed a bit of info on Tramp Steamers. Think of the ship in Peter Jackson's King Kong and you've got the right idea. The pdf gives just enough info for GMs - I'm thinking of having the crew being given 'a better offer by that nice chap over there' then the captain hires agents of the player's enemy - sweet - night time combat in cramped conditions....MAN OVERBOARD!!! http://home.earthlink.net/~djackson24/TrampSteamer2.pdf http://www.louislamourgreatadventure.com/images/Semiramis/SS-SemiramisTopDown72Sm.jpg
  4. Re: Help 2!!! SORTED - Zephyr, Temblor, Blowtorch and Riptide...i knew i'd seen the reference somewhere when i was browsing the champions new and 2nd hand stuff...The plot idea is in Conquerors, Killers and Crooks and here i was thinking i was highly original LOL using some of my holiday money I bought up all the villian sourcebooks the shop had!!!!
  5. First game went great - my boys have now asked if we can take Champions on holiday with us in case it rains!!! SO i get the idea of using the five western elements and using villains to fill each - earth, air, fire, water and spirit/ether etc i.e 'Quintessential Villains'. i'm gonna get pdfs to save time and just print off each villian for my file - i got 7 days to prepare...the mystic villain is the mastermind (spirit/ether)- probably a DEMON agent -needing precious stones in quantity for a ritual (The first encounter was a bank job using ogre as a bait to lure the heroes and the MARS unit away from a museum and the jewellery quarter of town) any ideas guys?????
  6. Re: Do you use Dr Destroyer in your campaign and if so, which version & how?
  7. Re: Do you use Dr Destroyer in your campaign and if so, which version & how? Seen as the original that I loved to hate was 'killed off' and replaced with one using magic I was thinking of kicking off my Champions 'A million stories in Millenium City' campaign with the old tech version hiding away and watching....then have this new arcane version turn up from a quantum universe..two? YES, TWO DR Detroyers...OR have they already done that and I've been subconsiously influenced by something I've read? Hmmmm, how would the original DD react to a quantum universe imposter???
  8. Re: Who are the greatest (?) super villains? Angelus??? for complete b*st*rdness!!
  9. Re: Hero 5E police npc stat block cheers - I'l head over to Amazon/Ebay for that - If any police survive they'll no longer be generic but a police contact instead...that way, if the players ever fail a roll, they'll get a 'deus ex machina' phone call from their police contact also I think there are normal npcs inn champions core guide or millenium city guide, dunno which one as i've been to bed since then!...couldn't purchase either as i'm saving for holiday put plenty of chmapions sourcebooks on my 'to buy' list at the end of august
  10. I've searched the forums and put 'Police' in the search box and even BBC Life on Mars came up!..I need a basic, non-power armoured, non-super powered, normal police(person) stat block, basically they'll be hiding behind their squad cars when the heroes turn up...and some viper goons pile out the bank...and when the super powered blasts and such start flying, Ogre bursts out. I just need some excuse for the heroes to throw cars and protect those who protect and serve at the same time EDIT: I found one!!! Npc normals galore http://the-wild-hunt.org/
  11. Re: Help!!!!!! Totally - i'm using the viper stats out of 4e as useless goons, with a possibilty 8- that a more 'competant' unit is in the vicinty!!
  12. Re: Help!!!!!! I'm back - no I haven't been ignoring you all I've been reading 5ed revised as I found a reasonably priced brand new copy - I've spent the last few days reading and re-reading, sending the wife into a tizz with all the rippping of paper, tutting, shoutings of 'hold on' as i finish a chapter, power description or skill info etc stealing all the post-it notes around the house and the noise of the printer AFAIK i've got it sussed!!! Eldest son has created an 'Iron Man rip off with a friendly rivalry with Defender' his words and character concept and youngest son has, with a lot of help from me, created a nimble, fast running, katana wielding weapon specialist with a Chi energy blast - he especially likes the fact that he gets missile deflection at 16-....now, like I said, as far as i know it's sussed....there will probably be a lot of fudging but i reckon it's a learning curve. I can just imagine it now...Ok kids you're both out on patrol when you hear a gunshot and the scream of civilians...what do you do? .....wait..that's how MY first game of champions started..... ;D
  13. Re: 30 Years is a long time for a campaign Lucius, thnx for the link - you are a LEGEND!! My eldest son thinks you are one too!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Re: Help!!!!!! thanx for that - but I was thinking rather than the basic book and then upgrading I was thinking of the decent core rules - I'm not new to Champions just out of touch - I found 4th Edition in the loft!! I was wondering if, at all, anything is compatable with 4 edition. having browsed the online shop I was thinking of Character creation and combat and just reworking the heros and villains from 4 ed,if possibel - I do remember the number crunching hero gen system but at least you get EXACTLY the hero you want (at least 90% accurate) i just cant wait to see my son's face when he misses with his energy projector and hits a bystander!!
  15. This is a call out for advice. The last time I played Champions was a combination of the grey book and 4ed produced by I.C.E. - I've looked at the online store and I am totally overwhelmed by the Hero Games line now I wouldn't know where to start.... What I am asking for is advice on which books to buy to run a summer campaign of Champions for my two sons and a couple of their friends....and no, I don't want to reintroduce the Gweenies LOL
