  1. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game

    I'm there now.

Port Oakes: North entrance of the tall brownstone house just east of the arena. Not too far from the difficulty level contact.

Sharkhead: A grungy white panel truck about 100 yds SSE of the natural vendor, quite close to a mission contact.

St. Martial: A manhole by a large transformer under a powerline tower 340 yards NE of the natural vendor.

Yep, they just opened up in CoV, yesterday. I got in through sharkhead. I am just about out of missions right now. I am on my last Contact (Portal/Dimension one). I have done all the St. Martial Missions. I am just about to turn level 38. So I will get to level 40 and it will be good. Then I get to wait until April.

The higher level content has several missions that are bugged. Since it only takes 15 minutes for them to answer a bug report. Its no big deal.

  2. Re: CHAR: The Flash

I would say his DCV is fine. Although I would make it that his DCV goes up as he uses his speed more. Just like you have the Speed going up. He has been "Tagged" by normal people before pretty easily.

PS Not normal normal people. But regular Human Super Villains. LOL

  3. Re: This week on "Champions"...

The League, found out about Giga Girls Past. She is just a runaway teenager. They thought she was 19. Ravenwood Academy came looking for her. Thinking that these "VILLAINS" had forcable taken her. (Giga Girl, left a ransom letter before she left to throw anyone off track.) A fight ensued. When the fight finally ended and it was all said and done. Flame was offered a job at Ravenwood Academy and he accepted.

  4. Re: Multipower

If they are ultra slots whose active points are over half of the MP, then no. However, if you use "multi" slots (cost 1/5), then you can tweak it as such.

For example: Johnny Fireball decides to include Flight in his MP. But he also wants to be able to attack at the same time. So he changes his power to look like this:

    60 Fire!: 60 point Multipower

6u 1) Heat Exhaustion Setting: 6d6 EB NND (force fields)

    12m 2) Flametongue: 12d6 EB

    6u 3) Fireball: 8d6, Explosion

    12m 4) Flight of Flames: 30"

Sorry to bring this back up.

Where does it talk Ultra and Multi Slots in the Book? What page.

  5. Re: Marvel's Best Martial Artists

Just checked the Marvel Universe: Avengers 2004 with Cap in it ... I'll grant you that he knows a few martial arts ... but' date=' personally, I don't see him in the top 5. Maybe around 7 .. but there are others that I think are more trained and have a higher skill in their abilities. And no it's not because he's "white and not obsessed with East Asian philosophy" ;) I just don't see it in the comics I've read him in ... and I've read quite a bit.[/quote']

The comics I have read him in. He is easily #1. Cap is easily what others strive to be. He is considered and shown to be Marvels Best Human Fighter.

  6. Re: My first Characters for Champion

OK, your math is correct. Much better.

I do have a couple of points:

    1) You cannot legally buy only one Martial Maneuver. Characters must buy AT LEAST 10 points worth of martial maneuvers. You need to buy at least 5 more points worth.

    2) How does a teenaged girl justify Diplomatic Immunity?

Have you determined how many points the campaign you are playing Giga Girl in is? The "standard level" superhero is 200 base points plus up to 150 points in Disadvantages for a total of 350 points. This is what is usually meant by a "350 point character" in Herospeak.

    1) Did not know that.

    2) She is the daughter of Englands Ambassador to America.

The Campaign is already underway. We set it at 350 with 100 points of Disadvantages.

  7. Re: My first Characters for Champion

    Cost Powers END

60 Elemental Control ENERGY, 120-point powers

40 1) Force Wall (15 PD/15 ED; 5" long and 4" tall) (Opaque Normal Hearing, Opaque Normal Sight) (99 Active Points); Increased Endurance Cost (x2 END; -1/2) 20

    60 2) Energy Shield: Armor (10 PD/10 ED) (30 Active Points) 0

    60 3) Flight 20", Position Shift, x4 Noncombat (50 Active Points) 5

    60 4) Energy Damage Reduction, Resistant, 25% (15 Active Points) 0

  8. Re: My first Characters for Champion

I'm not saying it's not useful; or that Giga Girl should dump it. But it's overkill for what you need. Look:

99 Force Wall (15 PD/15 ED/10 Flash Defense: Sight Group/10 Flash Defense: Hearing Group; 5" long and 4" tall) (Opaque Normal Hearing, Opaque Normal Sight) (149 Active Points); Increased Endurance Cost (x2 END; -1/2)

If it's intended to protect others from harm, then why add all the bells and whistles? Why make it opaque? Why add any Flash Defense? It's also huge; how many people were you planning to protect with this Power? As you've purchased this, it costs you 30 END per Phase to use. Since your character only has 30 END, she can only keep the thing up for one Phase. That's not much protection. A 12 PD Force Wall will stop normal 2d6 RKA machine gun fire or a runaway truck completely.

My recommendation: Make the Force Wall smaller and without the Flash defenses; and then stick it in her Multipower. It'll save you a bundle of points, and you can buy up her own defenses and also get a bit more END so she can fight for more than 1 Turn (As it is, even without using the current Force Wall she'll run out of END to use her powers in about 15 seconds).

Your basic concept is good; and certainly nobody is going to complain about a superheroine who can defend innocents and teammates with a powerful Force Wall. But to do that she needs to keep herself in the fight too.

Knowing a bit about the GGU vetting process, I'm rather surprised she passed muster.

I wanted to make it the size of a bus. I really don't get the idea around how many 1" is in feet.

    GGU vetting process?

  9. Re: My first Characters for Champion

If these are NPCs, I wouldn't worry about points and whether the build is efficient. I'd simply slap whatever abilities you think the characters should reasonably have onto the character sheet.

    Points are for PCs. ;)

Occasionally I get to play. A friend takes over judging. I would use one of these two Characters. I would want them to be legal.

  10. Re: My first Characters for Champion

Much better. However, I would still put the Energy Shield, Force Wall, Flight and Damage Redux into an EC. Then increase the SPD to 6.

Whenever I use up EC powers. It gets to be a lot of points. I guess I just don't understand how to input. How would you do it?

  11. Re: My first Characters for Champion

This is better, Manchine. However, Force Wall is not a good defensive power for an individual. You can't shoot your own energy blasts through it. I'd recommend you swap it for an equal point Force Field.

EDIT: Scratch that -a 148 point Force Wall!? Why?

A Force Wall is like putting up a physical barrier. Right? Say for example (which happened) you put it up in front of a car. Which the car smashed into and stopped following the group. The power has been used twice in the adventures. It also was to put a wall up against a bomb protecting a group of Kids.

FF might be better but not exactly what was needed.
