  1. Re: Curious of Other Opins I'd beat him with my rulebook. Sunday No seriously, an unusual sense (which this is, obviously ) cannot cover multiple targets unless these is a cohesive theme (detect traps) I would never allow him to have detect objects, danger, abilities. There's no theme there, it would have to be done with 3 senses. (the choice he made however, is a different story) Don't use unusual detects to detect danger, use danger sense. His 3rd choice you just veto on principle. Discriminatory sense abilities? That's when you smack him with the rulebook. An just so he learns that the GM's will is law and cannot be thwarted, after he buys his battery of unusual detects to never be blinded, you hit him with a flash vs unusual detects and THEN you thump him with the rulebook. Hope that helps. Sunday
  2. Re: Carrying a Big Stick -- Clubs, How Much Damage? I agree entirely with the def+bod rules and also think those clubs earlier mentioned look peachy keen. I'll usually add a couple dice to the player STR using std club weapon type rules but I never miss an ooportunity to let 2 bricks have at it with anything they can find. I recall a splendid battle that ran some 4 hours, between one of my brick PCs and his Brick arch enemy. They often ended up doing less damage that if they were punching each other because they wanted the reach and very few of the sturdier items ( a bank vault door comes to mind) survived more than a few hits. Good times... Sunday
  3. Re: SPD, DEX, and Movement This suddenly became about SPD, +running and Canadian history...go figure. If these two guys are running flat out, won't they go to NC movement? The 1st guy will effectively be moving at 30" the first turn ( 10" + 20" on his second phase ) while the 2nd moves 6" + 12" + 12" (also 30"). On turn 2 the 1st will travel 40" while the second 36". So the guy with 10" run is only slightly faster. Other pros and cons: 10" running guy needs longer to stop (10" vs 6") 10" guy has more velocity for attacks. Also has more velocity for running into things =) Overall, I'd take the SPD, cause hey! faster is better overall. Now Canadian History. Canada didn't join WWII when Britain declared it, that was WWI. Canada DID join at the same time but because they declared war as well, that was in 1939. States came in at the end of 1941. I'm done. Sunday.
  4. Greetings, Don't know why I never occured to me to look for an official Hero forum until just now but the universe is a wacky place. Been playing Hero system now for... eesh... since the original fantasy hero and danger international... been a while. Hero games is the only system that ever passed my test, and I challenge you to name me another system that does. Take 3 characters, from book, movies, whatever... now make them. Don't make rough aproximations, make THEM. Only system I know can do that, is this one. Now for a minor question, apologies if it was covered in 5th revised but darn it, I just got the 5th ed book, I gonna settle in with that one before I change it for the ginormous compedium. You added jumping as one of the base movement types, with the option to buy more inches of jumping the same way you buy running or swimming. But you left the jumping distances on the STR chart. So which is it? Thanks in advance, Sunday.
