Stat
A common medical abbreviation for urgent or rush. From the Latin word statim, meaning "immediately."
I think that could be a good hero ID for speedster hero that works as a paramedic or a healthcare worker.

Excaliber & M.I. 13's Secret Invasion. The Skrulls used advanced technology to control and counter magic without ever creating there own.
And the Galadorians created Rom's Neutralizer weapon that could nullify any type of energy, even magical energy.

Re: What If: You were the world's 1st superhuman?
Well the first thing I would do upon discovering my powers is not do anything. At least not immediately. I would need to plan first.
If I have an Eidetic memory, then I would take advantage of that and study and memorize multiple languages. I would then study world politics and the various differences that cause wars and clashes of ideologies.
I would also be taking time to hone my physical powers and testing their limits. If I could lift a tractor from the get-go, then it would stand to reason that working out my muscles with strength training I could lift even more than that. And may even increase my durability and endurance.
After sharpening my mind and body to their peak, I would then publicly reveal my existence.
I would tell the news media that my intentions are to strive for truth, justice, and world peace. I will use my powers to help people who are sick or starving, stop wars, and defeat terrorism.
I would make it clear that I am not a representative of any world government, and that no imaginary border can stop me from accomplishing my goals.
I would call myself 'Supraman'. (To avoid any potential lawsuits by DC Comics)

Re: Time travel in the Marvel Universe
Cable and Phoenix are also a time travelers I believe. As far as Marvel mechanics of time travel I think most of the time is go forward or go to present. I think the Fantastic Four and Dr. Doom did a bit of travel back but I'm not sure if anyone else is. Also' date=' it seems most Marvel Futures are fairly bleak, it's why people keep coming back to change it: Bishop, Cable, Phoenix and a shew of other X-Men who are future selves.[/quote']Well we know some futures are bleak. And that's why the people from those bad futures come back to try and change things.
But the future Earths were everything is cool. Why would they bother going back in time for? So we wouldn't see characters from those futures anyway.

Re: Time travel in the Marvel Universe
Reed Richards has built time machines. Dr. Strange can time travel.
And the Black Panther I believe is still in possession of "King Solomon's Frogs" (A pair of brass frogs which enable their owner to time travel)

Re: Need some name help: French Supers
How about Forte. Which means 'strength'. It would be a good name for a brick type.

Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.
I've been busy putting together 3 Warlord cards for their anniversary set. Doing oil paints is very time consuming. But they are done and I can get back to the large pile of commissions waiting for me.Here is the first. A playing card themed superhero (or villain, not sure):

Ooh! I like that! He's like a Ninja with a playing card motif! Very original.

Re: Superman To Lead Avengers
No one needs to worry. Superman is not going anywhere. Time-Warner will cut a deal with the Siegels.

Re: Name that flag-suited hero!
I always liked 'Liberator'.
Simple, and it sounds kinda iconic.

Isn't Nefaria vulnerable to having his ionic energy drained?

Re: Captain Ultra
I always thought they should use Captain Ultra as a funny parable on The Sentry.

Re: What were: the best Marvel titles of the 80's?
And one more detail, probably the greatest family battle-cry in comics history:
Odin: FOR ASGARD!
Thor: FOR MIDGARD!
Loki: FOR MYSELF!
ROM: SPACE KNIGHT FTMFW!!!!Rom Rocked! I think it was Bill Mantlo's best Marvel work. (God bless him)

Re: What were the best Superhero comics of the 90's?
Pretty much anything by Valiant.

Re: "Open-Source" superhero names
There's 'Ultraman'. The Japan tv show hero, the Crime Syndicate of Amerika member, and I believe there was a Golden Age hero that went by that name too.

Re: Cap is dead!!!!
The day the writers to tell their stories by crushing the soul of the shared universe ( I'm talking about way more than Cap here) is the day they need to quit and close their doors Calling most of these replies cynicism just doesn't make sense to me. The cynics are the writers who hate heroism' date=' idealism, and larger than life heros are the cynics here. The cynicism in modern comics has depressed me for years.[/quote']If you believe these characters are people who are chiseled in marble and are never to be changed in any way, then I would quit reading comics. Treating the characters like they live in some unapproachable ivory tower will be the death of them in my opinion.
When I talk about 'change', I'm not talking about turning Batman into an axe-murderer, or turning Spider-Man into a serial-rapist, I'm talking about giving the characters more emotional depth and adding on to the characters' already established background.
All you have to do is look at what Brubaker did with Bucky and you see what I mean. He made Bucky into a more compelling character than any version by any other writer I have read.

Re: Cap is dead!!!!
Wow, I'm amazed at the responses. How can you all be so cynical? It's not like a real person died. It's not even like the character isn't coming back.Do any of you even read Captian America? If you did you would realize that it's the best its been in years. Ed Brubaker/Micheal Lark have been hitting it out of the park since they're first story arc. Yet, none of you seem capable of trusting them to write the character/storyline as they see fit. Fine, you don't want to stay around for the ride, in my opinion it's your loss.
I agree with you. The cynicism here is depressing me.
I for one am stoked to see where Brubaker and Marvel are going with this. Yes, they've done "Death of Captain America" stories before, but not with the kind of depth they are going to do with this.
The day when we stop letting writers take risks and not letting them tell the stories they want to tell, that is the day the publishers need to quit and close the doors.

Re: Cap is dead!!!!
It's too bad that Marvel and DC think they have to pull stuff like this to get sales. Maybe decent writing and not charging 3.00 minimum per book would bring people back.
I'm of the opinion that if you're going to do a death, then write it well.
I read the issue and it is stunningly well-written. But then Ed Brubaker has been kicking butt on this book since he came on board.

Re: Marvel Femal Martial Artists
Mantis defeated Thor in hand to hand combat waaaay back in the 70's.She used a choke hold on him. She also must have rolled a crit for max damage.

The good thing about using a mall or an amusement park is they tend to be located outside the main urban areas. You don't want to have a headquarters right in the middle of the city if a huge fight breaks out. Yeah, that looks great in a movie, but realistically it would be disastrous for the population.
