  1. Re: Archer Art

Oh' date=' is this a narrow shot? Like, two inches tall and a full page wide? I think that was in the 3rd Ed Champions book.[/quote']

That's the GA looking guy...that isn't the one I'm thinking about. I'm starting to feel like I imagined the whole thing. But thanks Dave.

  2. Can someone please help me out before I go insane...(okay so I'm already there)...I mean further.

Somewhere in my vast collection of Hero System Books (Dating back to 1st Ed. mind you) I have seen a drawing of an Archer using a Compound Bow and if I am not mistaken bouncing the shot. I based a character for my Dark Champions campaign on my memory of this picture and want to find it.

    Anyone...anyone???

  3. Re: Help me name my team; Part Two: Germany.

As far as the german goes... well it's my mothertongue so...

I know what I'm talking about, I was just trying to help. Oh, and I hope that I will have the same knowledge about the english language as I have now but I think if I would not use my english for 20 years... well... :ugly:

I only wish my German was ever as good as your english. Both you and the Baron are obviously very fluent in it. Thanks for correcting me, nothing like a native to give us the correct answer.

  4. Re: Help me name my team; Part Two: Germany.

    1) Die Kampfmaschine is the way to go I think

    2) Feuertänzerin sounds good to me

3)White Witch is not "Weissenhexen" in german, I would use The White Witch which would be "Die weiße Hexe" (the character is a female, right?)

Schould be spoken like "die" = deep without the p, "weiße" = why + the as one word, Hexe is easy I think, like hex but with an e at the end that sounds like the e in ex.

Just for the pronunciation. If you have questions I would be happy to help

    btw, weissenhexen sounds just silly

    4) Magni, I think this is cool

    5) Nachtjäger... mhm... I think you could use this without sounding silly but I don't have something else ecept the longer version "Der Jäger der Nacht" and this is definitly not a good and usable name, more of a title.

6)Der Bogenschütze, or for everyone without our special letters it would be "Der Bogenschuetze"

I think you have a good cellection of names that do not sound that silly as real names for german supers.

Oh, there is one thing... Uberschutztruppe.. mhm... is there a collective word for supers in your world likle metas? Mhm maybe this sounds a little bit long but "Einsatzkommando für Sonderfälle" (Task force for special cases) would be better. We don't use the word uber that much and especialy ubermenschen is a word you will not see in use that much here. Superhelden (Superheroes) yes, but Ubermenschen (which would be Overhumans btw)... no... at least not in any official writings.

Es tut mir lied, mein duetsch ist nicht so gut mehr. Bin ich eine ganzen fauler sack fur die umlaut furgessen. Und die scharfes s auch.

And that probably wasn't all that great either...see what 20 years will do to you.

  5. Re: Help me name my team; Part Two: Germany.

You could call the powered armor guy "Kreigkampf" Which I think means "Headstrike" :)

    Firedancer

    Warlock

    Doner

Nachtjager (I think is Night Hunter)

    Longbow

Finally somewhere that my meager command of the German language will come in handy. Four years stationed there will do that for you.

How 'bout the following (incorporating other's ideas)

    1. The Defender - Der Verteidiger

    2. Firedancer - Feuertanzerin

    3. White Witch - Weissenhexen

    4. Magni - Norse God of Might (Thor's son)

    5. Nighthunter - Nachtjager

    6. The Archer - Der Bogenschutze

They may not all be perfect but should be close...

  6. Re: Name That Band Hero!

    I won't score the bonus' date=' but it's Black Sabbath.[/quote']

Yep Sabbath it is...albums are Vol. 4 and Paranoid respectively. I think I'm getting buzzed just talking about them...hehe...flashbacks

  15. Re: Super pitcher

I asked Steve what he thought the damage for a fastball would be. He said about 3d6 normal.

The character isn't currently a superhero. We are roleplaying his pre-powers period right now. So I would be interested in "real world" baseball stuff.

I like the "fireball" idea. In fact that is directly in line with the players idea. He likes to "throw the heat" to get the batters thinking twice. So if you have that writeup I would love to see it. If only the power writeup, that would be fine.

According to the rules, you do strength damage when throwing something up to the objects Def + Body. Given a 15 Str. Pitcher...3d6. I actually came up with a chart that helped emphasize this (factoring in velocity and mass of the object). Of course there is nothing saying that you can't add in a ranged martial art or extra strength for throwing.

    Hysteria - Mentalist

    Um....Def Leppard

  18. Re: Help with Mental Power

I usually use the premise that the mentalist in question is able to catch a glimpse of the attackers intent via telepathy and as such dodge the attack.

    I buy it as:

10 pts. (25 Active) +5 DCV Psionic* (-1/2), RSR (Per Roll: No Active Point Penalty -1/4), Costs End (-1/2), Mental Defense Subtracts from DCV 5pts/-1 (-1/4)

*Only vs. attacks caused by mind that could be perceived

    Hope that helps

Oops, forgot the Mental Illusion portion...

Link the Mental Illusions to the DCV bonus (or the other way around) and add Trigger. With AE it could get pretty expensive though...

  19. Re: Help with Mental Power

I was looking through Storn's Art and Character Thread earlier today. I came across Death Tribble's "Ringmistress" I was inspired to add her to my Evil Circus villain team. I plan to add her; I was hoping everyone here would be willing to help me define a power for her.

I am getting tired of players hitting the egoists I put of there. My party finds an egoists and drops them first. darn it.

I though I would create a new power that uses their mental power to raise their DCV. Sort of an illusion that makes the attacker think they hit the target (Egoist), but really they miss. The problem is, I can't figure out how to write the power.

In game trems, I am thinking of a sort of mental illusion with a limitation only to increase DCV. Probably would have to have area effect, such as 10 hexes or more. I don't want energy blasters to still be able to hit the egoist, while bricks and martial artists can't.

I was thinking of about a +4 DCV. Something to make it harder to hit the egoist, but not impossible. Once an egoist is hit, they tend to drop quickly, at least mine do. I just want one with a little more staying power that isn't DEX 30. Any ideas would be weclomed.

    Also is Storn's webpage down????

  20. Re: Name That Band Hero!

I'd loved the song "SUmmertime Girls" When it came out in 85. So I recently got a chance to get a lot of their music and took it. There is some reall good music there and a interesting sound evolution from the 70's to the 00's

I was going to do them too...Meanstreak is one of my all time favorite songs. Nice choice!
