I have a couple combat droids converted to Hero 4th edition rules.
Like the Magnaguard...
-
Oddly the Palladium RPG gave her a pretty low P.B. stat. I just translated it to Hero stats.
-
Thanks for the advice.
-
I'd tend to use them as equipment, since more than one person can operate them, and I'd treat them as independent in the game. The RDF is supplying a Veritech to RIck Hunter, he isn't made with one.
-
I would think that if I was running a Robotech Hero game, personally I would have my players play 75+75 point normal with NO EQUIPMENT, then as the GM I would supply them mecha, armor and weapons that were independent of their characters. Anyways, I will look at both options.
One problem with vehicles for Mecha is that SPD of the pilot influences the Running, Swimming and Flight speed of a vehicle. Let's say I ended up giving a Veritech a SPD of 10, and then used some math to calculate that to make the go at full speed I need to give him 40 inches of Flying. Well, then I give that low level Veritech to a player with a 5 SPD.... does that mean his Veritech only flies at half speed when the slow pilot is driving it?
I am tempted to give the Veritech extra Flight with the limitation "just to keep the jet flying at full speed when drivers with a low SPD pilot it" (-1/2).
On the other hand if I made the character sheets specifically with the mecha as a focus I could easily tailor the running, swimming and flight to the SPD attribute of the character. A low SPD character would get more running than a high SPD character just so their jets all fly at the same airspeed!
Then again maybe ace pilots with a high SPD should be able to safely pilot their ships to go faster?

Today's updates...Captain America, 250 point sentinel of liberty - http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/CAPTAIN.pdfSentinel Mark IV, 500 point, and also a sentinel, but with less liberty - http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/SENT4.pdfSynergy - 250 point hero from the Mutant X TV series who can change his mass at will - http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/SYNERGY.pdf
Also addedBattle Pod - Heavy Artillery, 470 point it's like a standard Zentraedi Battle Pod, but slower and with a few long range missiles - http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/BATPODHA.pdfBattle Pod - Light Artillery, 410 point it's like a standard Zentraedi Battle Pod, but slower and with many medium range missiles - http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/BATPODLA.pdfLynn Minmei, 50 point annoying Japanese pop star - http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/LYNNMINM.pdfRook Bartley, 150 point fighter in the third Robotech War, who likes red mecha - http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/ROOKBART.pdfRose, 238 point magic hero from the Champions comic book series - http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/ROSE.pdfSliver, 270 point hero from Strike Force - http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/SLIVERSF.pdfSpeedball, 250 point masked marvel - http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/SPEEDBAL.pdfSwashbuckler, 304 point hero from Strike Force who saw Zorro one too many times - http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/SWASHBUC.pdf -
The Bioroid pilots are humanoids, but they received no personality in the TV series outside the character of Zor. Bioroids might as well just be robots with organic brains. The pilots just sat balled up in a fetal position inside the Bioroid armor.
I might just end up writing them all up both ways. So we will have a separate Dana and Hover Tank and a Dana with the Hovertank as a focus.

I was working on updating some of my Champions conversions on my web site one that I've been working on for a while is an adaption of Robotech to Hero 4th edition rules.
One of the biggest points of contention I have in converting characters is so I simply convert the characters for (very) low cost characters, and allow them to pilot massive expensive mecha as vehicles, or do I write them up with the character, equipment and mecha on the same character sheet as foci.
For instance, here is Dana Stealing:
http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/DANASTER.pdf
Here is the Hover Tank she pilots:
http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/VHTANK.pdf
I converted them as a 144 point character with a 412 point vehicle!
Now another approach would be to simply convert the whole character and vehicle on one page, with the mecha they pilot done as a focus for some powers.
For instance here is a Robotech Masters Blue Bioroid done one on character sheet for 197 points. His mecha and hover sled are simply equipment. No vehicle used.
http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/BIOROIDB.pdf
So which way do you think I should go on a Robotech Hero write up? Should I maybe provide BOTH versions on my page? -

Okay, today's update.
http://mattcave.fcpages.com/champions.html
Updated Rollbar from The Transformers. He's a rough and tumble Autobot tracker who turns into a Jeep.
Updated Tara the Jungle Girl from AC Comics/Femforce.
Added Airachnid (an evil spider-themed female who turns into a helicopter), Bumblebee (the young Autobot warrior who turns into a sports car) and Fallback (a heroic Tech Specialist who turns into a truck) from Transformers: Prime. Also added Ironhide, Optimus Prime, Predaking and Shockwave from Transformers: Prime.
Added Captain Henry J. Gloval (stoic Russian ships captain) and Dana Sterling (blonde bimbo, half-alien tank pilot) from Robotech. Both are 150 point normal with some skills, based on conversions from the Robotech RPG.
Added Shattered Glass Galvatron This is the heroic Decepticon from the mirror universe where Autobots are evil and Decepticons are good, seen in Transformers Collector's Club stories.
Added Hacker X3, who is tiny Autobot Transformer who turns into handheld video game player. He appeared on the 2007 toy line. Might make a good sidekick for a hero.
Added Stardust from AC Comics/Femforce.

I am going to TRY to update my Champions page more regularly, so this is a thread to make notice up the updates and changes.
http://mattcave.fcpages.com/champions.html
Today I updated the existing character sheets for Chromedome (from The Transformers), Namorita and Nova (from Marvel Comics). I also added the characters of Casey Jones (TMNT), Invid Stage 2 and Lisa Hayes (from Robotech), Trailcutter (from Transformers: Prime), Voltaic (a Villains Unlimited character).
If these are characters you like... enjoy!

Savage Dragon as well. His series appeared in the 90s under the Image imprint.

My take on Officer Dragon:
-
I didn't even bother with Multiform for Transformers, I just considered it Shapeshifting. Here is my character sheet for Transformers Jetfire.
http://mattcave.fcpages.com/PDFs/JETFIRE.pdf
Meanwhile here is my conversion of the Veritech from Robotech/Macross as a vehicle.
-
How about Vehicles as Followers. Instead of using the actually vehicles rules which are rather costly and unbalance the game for those who don't have them, why night do a right up of a vehicles as if were a character. Matt's Champion's Page used to have KITT from Knight Rider built on 250 Points.
For that one I actually wrote up KITT as the character, and his driver was a DNPC normal with useful skills who he always had to save. Because honestly, KITT was the super hero on the show.

I didn't go by active points, but when I did them maximus number of SDC a power did in damage and converted it to BODY damage. For stats I tried to convert evenly, for strength I went by how much the character could lift and translated that.
I tried to translate to real world numbers where possible. Like Constitution's growing powers, I just went by how big he could grow in the game, and calculated how many levels of growth that needed. For a character who could fly, I figures out how may MPH he could fly, and worked back from there.
I had to use some math for calculating speed, since the Palladium round is 15 second, and in Champions a turn is 12 seconds. palladium number divided by 15 times 12 gives you the speed.
The characters don't end up very balanced if you translate them, sadly, for instance Onslaught is considered a brick in his game, but only has a STR of 35 here! I got that number by figuring out how many pounds he can lift. In Palladium their lifting capacity is severely under rated (Most large characters cannot lift their own body weight!)
