  1. Re: Pulp Lovecraft

Yea, I remember watching this, rented it from blockbuster years ago. It was quite good. They also made a sequel sort of, wich was also good.

    From wikipedia:

A quasi-sequel by the name Witch Hunt was later produced by HBO, taking place in the 1950s, during the Red Scare and substituting magic for Communism. Fred Ward did not reprise his role as Lovecraft, the character instead being played by Dennis Hopper. The movie is not a direct sequel. While characters with many of the same names, their background stories are different. For example, in Cast a Deadly Spell, Lovecraft's refusal to use magic is on principle, but in Witch Hunt it is because he once used a spell that led to the death of an innocent person.

If you can locate them, Pinnacle games made a small series of Weird War II books that were pretty neat, as well as SJ Games Weird War II book for GURPS. In addition, and probably a bit harder to find, are the Weird War Tales comics. Great twists and oddities that could be mined for campaigns. There are some examples in this comic gallery.

Repped for mentioning Weird War Comics! Thanks for bringing back some memories:thumbup:

  3. Re: Star Frontiers Conversion

You know the only reason i bought D20 Future is because it had the Star Frontier aliens in it.

(well that and the Star*Drive aliens)

(and maybe to rip-off future gadgets for my Tomorrow Boy character, but Star Frontiers aliens is what sold me;))

TSR: (Buck Rogers - XXV: The 25th Century)

    25CR1: Buck Rogers-Mars in the 25th Century

These are the ones I was thinking of (own the Mars one).

But, hey, that other board game looks pretty cool too.

  5. kind of spun out of another thread, But:

Does anyone have the original boxed set to TSR's Buck Rogers XXV? Did it have a lot of rocketships represented in it? (and for Spence) any deck plans?

Any interesting stuff to "cannabalize" out of the box set or any of the supplements?

The cover artwork was always awsome, and that alone inspired me to pick up the Mars and Earth supplements, but I found the isnsides just meh. Though the Pavonis space Elevator on Mars is an idea worth stealing.

So any thoughts from those who own any of the material or those that have played in the setting? Or anybody with an opinion, feel free to jump in.

  6. Re: Question about Pulp Hero

Really, the Rocketship didn't have even picture of different designs? I thought it would have had at least that:o Shows, what I know!

Can you post or email me a scan of the deckplans?

I went and dug out my Mars in The 25th Century, and sadly I was mistaken. It had been a while since I looked at it, but even though it does have a small martian rocketship fighter, no deck plans. I was getting it mixed up with the Earth supplement which has the "deck plans" for a space station.

The rocketship is printed on large cardstock with a picture on the front and info on the back. These are set up just the way TSR used to do SpellJammer ships, with deckplans on the back of the card stock.

This being a fighter they may not needed deck plans, but their other supplements might actually have deck plans, since it follows the same model.

Sounds like a new thread question, hmmmm.;)

  7. Re: Question about Pulp Hero

    Actually, I have no idea:confused:

I did find this about the product:

    This supplement has includes:

    • Technology Compatibility from PL 4 to PL 9
    • All New rules for Rocketship Types and Subtypes
    • Ship Alteration Templates
    • Common Ships In The Sol System, Chronan Ships & Venusian Saucers
    • All New Rocketship Defensive & Offensive Systems
    • All New Universal, Chronan & Venusian Technology
    • All New Rocketship Feats including Alien Diplomacy & Nimble Piloting
    • All New Races of The Solar System: The Chronans and Venusians
    • Colonies In The Solar System & Interplanetary Trade

So it really doesn't say. I would think it would need to, like you said RPGs and all. But D20 Future had alot of ship stats, no deck plans so who knows.

You might want to check out TSR's old Buck Rogers XXV stuff. I have Mars in the 25th Centry supplement and they had a Martian Rocket Ship with deck plans. They probably have some supplements some where that has a bunch of rocketship deck plans. More than likely in the original boxed set. And they are pretty cheap when you find them (both my supplements were like $3-5 bucks.
