Re: What are _____ like in your game?
I like, and use, the Harn idea that they (dwarves and elves) came from Midgaard. Let Tolkein worry about their origins.

Re: Elves
It was actually dwarves that tipped me off to the fact that I didn't need non-human races in my game at all. I had one player (actually a good player) who played a grumpy' date=' greedy dwarf - very characterful, if a bit stereotypic.cheers, Mark[/quote']For some reason Thorin Oakenshaft and Nobby Woodcock spring to mind.

Re: Elves
Wow' date=' that's just stupid. On their part, I mean.[/quote']Thinking back, I also got caned by the moderators because I posted a picture (in a thread about Wood Elves) that I had adulterated to show a wood elf mage crucified. They decided that I was insulting Christians. I could only think that exposure to roleplaying and fantasy wargaming had so warped their brains that they could no longer differentiate between reality and fantasy. To save them I converted to another major world religion and blew them up.

Re: Elves
I got banned from a Warhammer site once because my bile spitting towards Wood Elves (forest rats) was deemed rascist by the moderators. I kid you not.

Re: Elves
In my world i try to make elf like tolkien did .............it a perfect and angelic race better and more powerfull then human but rare in number..........This sounds like you have modelled your Elves on me.

Re: Elves
Elves are just what humans call the pretty versions of the faerie folk. But they are all basically just faeries.
Ain't that the truth.

Re: And off we go!
As a bit of backup, I am also going to bait some of the characters - they will be offered a magic gift by a dying man. Knowing players, few will be able to turn down a neato-kewl magic power for free. Of course, once accepted, they will also get a geascheers, Mark
You always were a bastard for that sort of thing!

Re: Recommend a fantasy world map?
You could try Harn and Harnworld from Columbia games. They sell four large poster sized maps of a region of the main continent.
