  1. Re: Voidwarp Fun Most of Blackouts abilities only work in darkness. His abilites are powered by the Dark. He has ways to create darkness but if he can be caught while in the light, he has a serious problem.
  2. Re: Voidwarp Fun After further consideration, I change the power setup to this; Through the Void Damage Mitigation: Force Field (35 PD/35 ED) (70 Active Points); OAF (Cloak of the Void; -1), Limited Power Only vs Grab By, Move By or Move Through (-1), Conditional Power Power Only Works In Darkness (-1/2) and Through the Void: Teleportation 1", Personal Immunity (+1/4), MegaScale (1" = 1 km; +1/4), Damage Shield (+1/2), Usable As Attack (+1) (6 Active Points); Linked (Through the Void Damage Mitigation; -1/2) The OAF and Conditional aren't listed on the Teleportation because they are linked otherwise it would be a double limitation. I kept the Megascale because at least 2 of the players have their own version of Megascale movement with a much greater range than the 1km that the cloak invokes.
  3. Re: Voidwarp Fun A wormhole effect is what I'm trying to create. I'm not as worried about the Megascale. The group is 450/75 active and several have a Megascale movement that dwarfs the 1km.
  4. Re: Voidwarp Fun Blackout doesn't throw something through his cloak. Someone dives, tackles or tries a move-thru and his cloak spreads which triggers the desolid and teleport. The NCC is supposed to represent that he can't charge someone and trigger this attack or throw himself in the way of a charging character to trigger the power. It only works when someone charges him. Maybe Damage Shield is the better way to build this. I used the phrase Velocity Damage to mean any attack that has a +v/5 or a +v/3 or anything that has the v/ designation. UAA is required to use the Teleport against an unwilling target. Also Blackout doesn't control where the target teleports to so he isn't able to fling someone into space or the sun.
  5. Re: Voidwarp Fun There is nothing under the Trigger description that says it won't work like that. An example the book gives is a landmine. That's just a no-range EB that attacks (Makes an OCV roll) when stepped on. In this case, I'm substituting Teleport for the EB. I still need an attack roll and have set the TP with the Advantage Usable As Attack. Unless I'm misreading the effect.
  6. I have an idea for a villain and his defense. What I want to simulate is if someone tries any type of attack that relies on Velocity that they appear to go into his cloak an reappear a nice distance away. I have the ability built as such: Through the Void Damage Mitigation: Desolidification (affected by Light), Trigger (Activating the Trigger is an Action that takes no time, Trigger resets automatically, immediately after it activates, Character does not control activation of personal Trigger; +3/4) (70 Active Points); No Conscious Control (-2), Limited Power Only Against Attacks with Velocity (-1 1/2), Cannot Pass Through Solid Objects (-1/2) and Through the Void: Teleportation 1", Personal Immunity (+1/4), MegaScale (1" = 1 km; +1/4), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2), Trigger (Activating the Trigger is an Action that takes no time, Trigger resets automatically, immediately after it activates, Character does not control activation of personal Trigger; +3/4), Usable As Attack (+1) (7 Active Points); Restrainable (-1/2) The Trigger for the Desolid is any Velocity Damage Type attack against him and the Teleportation is triggered by activating the Desolid. I believe with this chain I may need affects desolid on the Teleportation. If I build it with the Teleport going first, would the Villain take the damage anyway? My group love to use Move-Thru attacks and I want a cool defense for that kind of attack. Plus it seems to fit with the Villain's Character Concept. Thanks and good gaming.
  7. I'm taking over the GMing duties for my Sunday Night game for a few weeks and need to know how to build a certain effect. At some point in the adventure, the PCs are going to be on the Astral Plane. Doing that part isn't the difficulty. What I really want to do is any form of attack the PCs launch on the Plane is going to be done via ECV. My rational is that the Astral Plane is powered by mental energy. Although they can elect to swing a haymaker for the damage based on their strength, but I want to attack roll to be ECV. Is there a power build to allow me to do this other than GM Fiat?
  8. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Last Sunday Night an Ex-Professional Wrestler joins the hero group. The group goes to break-up a bank robbery. Jason Starider: (To Wrestler) These fights aren't fixed, you may want to hang back, out of the way. The GM awarded me a free Reroll for the line.
  9. Re: Various Star Damage You could always use Desolidification with Limitations: Only vs Heat/Fire/Radiation and Can't pass through Solid Objects. Thus you are solid but Heat, Fire and Rad don't affect you.
  10. Re: Best Avengers Group When was Moondragon on the team? I seem to remember her on the New Defenders, then her headband was removed so, of course, she turns on the team. She was hot, for a bald chick.
  11. In the board's opinion, what were the Most Powerful Avengers Group and the most Poular Avengers Group in the past 20 years? And if you want, also list from the entire Avengers checklist (100+ heroes) who do you think would make the most effective team, if it isn't reflected in the first two questions? I'm asking because I'm in the process of creating a new hero group for a campaign that I'm in and I'm coming up dry for ideas.
  12. Re: Help Building Mimic Type Character Thanks for the help. I'll post what I did for the Mimic once I finish up his background.
  13. I've only recently come back to the hero system and want to build a character who has the ability to mimic the abilites and physical abilities of any person he sees. He would have to choose who he mimics, not be able to gain abilities of a group of people he sees at the same time. What would be the best way to build him? I'm not sure if I should build this as a VPP or a multiform with a Varible Power Effect. Has anyone come accross this type of character or seen a decent build for this type of character? He wouldn't look like the target character and he could only mimic humanoidcharacters. He couldn't gain, say, a cheetah's powers but could mimic a humanoid like alien. Any help or opinions would be appreciated and thank you in advance for your input.
