  1. Re: Reducing Movment speed... Drain or Entangle? Thanks, didn't realize FREd had expanded change environment, I was going on 4th Ed knowledge (Yeah, it's been a while). Appriciate the help.
  2. Hey folks, I'm hoping for a little input here... I'm trying to create a power that slows or stops opponents from physically traversing an area. The justification is based on a "Spatial Distortion" power concept, either: 1)making the distance traveled effectively longer (The inverse of the "folding space" justification for teleportation) or 2) by focusing gravity beneath the target to either slow them or force them to come to a stop. I know I'm talking about two different mechanics here, but I figure someone who could shape space could redirect gravity as well, so either application of the overall power concept could result in slowing or stopping a person. Should I look at a 0 DEF, entangle (Entangle not damaged) as the way to express this? The problem I see there is a strong person will be less effected (or unaffected) which is consistent with a "gravity well", but I can't see using an energy blast to reduce the effectiveness of that gravity well unless the special effect was something like "Magnetic beam" or whatnot. Entangles are designed to be "Broken" by virtually any attack, so the idea that you're "pinned" by stronger gravity isn't really working. Example: Gravity increases beneath you; you're stuck until you can grunt your way out of the affected spot. The rules state you can use an EB to break out of an entangle, so you fire a stun gun into the ground and gravity normalizes? It's not consistent with the special effect I'm trying to create. The other way I've thought of is a drain power that affect movement speed, by "Streching" the path an individual wants to travel until they either arrive much later or fail to arrive at all. The problem I see with this explanation is power defense would defend against this, but how do you justify defending against distance? If I can make a 5 foot movement effectively be a 5 mile movement by distorting the space you intend to move through, what's the "standard" power defense that'll overcome the special effect? Example: The holy crusader has a "blessed cross" OAF he carries that provides divine protection... his faith protects him when someone tries to sap his will or strength... wonderful, but can he just "believe" the distance is actually only 5 feet and overcome the streching of space? Maybe there's another power or application I'm not thinking of, but I'm stuck for a power description that fits with either of these two ideas... all I want to do is slow down the opposition. Thoughts? I hope so, cause I'm bumfuzzled.
