    Total Disadvantage Points: 150

Background: Very little his known about Burt Gummer past. Although his gun expertise and paramilitary talk would suggest a military background, no evidence of this is available. What is known is that he and his wife Debra settled in Perfection Valley sometimes before the first Tremors movie. Obsessed with the possibility of WWIII and a nuclear holocaust, The Gummers spend years building a bunker and making preparation for the nuclear winter. During the first graboid attack, their underground bunker wasn't ideal and was totally destroyed. Burt at least had the satisfaction of killing the first Graboid with his own hands (well,,,gun). A the start of the second movie, Debra has left Burt, who apparently can't live without the idea of imminent destruction of the world. Earl calls him to Mexico, where Burt hunts Shriekers. Burt he's now consider a specialist of Graboids, and often travel around the world to help local population get rid of their underground neighbors.

Personality/Motivation: Burt he's serious. All the time. And he takes himself seriously. He always use clear, military-like sentences and often lose his friend with a lot of abreviation and military lingo. He's extremely paranoid, and clearly has a compulsive-obsessive sydrome (who owns a boat in the middle of Nevada?). He also love gun, a lot. The bigger, the better. He's also extremely cautious and will always be prepared. And he loves explosions.

Quote: ''And THAT's why we're the top of the food chain!''

Powers/Tactics: Know your enemy. Know your surroundings. Be prepared. Deal with what you have. And bring a lot of guns.

CAMPAIGN USE: Burt Gummer he's at home in a Tremors game, but you could use him for a lot of other stuff. He'd be prefect in a heroic Zombie game. Or you could use him in a post-apocalyptic game, right after the blast, has a sort of helping figure.

You do realize "Professional Wrestling" is worked' date=' right?[/quote']

No!! Really?? Wow, thanks for sharing the wisdom pal....

Seriously, I think what I (and Main Man I think) am trying to do is a kayfabe version of wrestling. Like if wrestler fought for real and could really take five D.D.T. and not be crippled. Of course, if you want to do a realistic wrestling campaign, all the wrestler will pull their punch, use acting to sell the move and the champion would be the one with the most COM and PRE. A question of style....

P.S.: Never assume a wrestling fan is a mark, you might end up getting piledrived :D

  4. Re: Wrestling HERO

Personally, I use Reputation a lot. To simulate the pop, I play it like a PRE attack from the wrestler against the crowd, so reputation plays a big part in my game. Each level of success adds 1 DC to the character's next attack. And PRE attacks against crowd are a full phase action.

Reputation greatly varies, depending on recent events. For example, being a current champion is a +1d6 to any PRE attack against a crowd. Winning certain special events or performing incredible feat can also increase Reputation. Reputation: King of the Ring +1d6, or something like that.

Since you're in preparation, do you work on writeups? Care to share?

  5. Re: Wrestling HERO

That's what I use. Do you run a game? Is it straight wrestling, or more like a lucha movie in the USA? How do you handle rope? I thought about using the bouncing utilization of the acrobatics skill in the Ultimate Skill. Basically, it adds +2 of running to people bouncing of ropes. I'm not to happy about that, it doesn't feel right. Any Idea?

  6. Re: Random Lucha update

I seem to think most wrestlers prefer stomping the gut or the nads which of course brings up a whole new set of questions. :D

    Wait a minute!

Are you implying that wrestling is in any way, shape or form homo erotic? Big muscular men, all oiled up in brightly color tights. Name one thing more heterosexual than this.

    Go ahead, I dare you.

  7. Re: Random Lucha update

The kick comment doesn't quite hold up either as most kicks to the face will drop an opponent' date=' though not make him bleed.[/quote']

Well, in my defense, I was referring to the classic stomp.

As for the Hardcore part of Main Man answer, that's right, PD and damage reduction DO go up in these matches. Except for Mick Foley, who was pretty much impossible to destroy in all of his matches, wrestlers become tougher when they have an hardcore match. Maybe something in their food...

BTW, I realize that we are slowly drifting away in a general wrestling discussion when there's a pretty good thread started by Main Man. See you there, Tights-lovers.

One question, in a article for DH (well.... I think it was in DH), you did a writing of Santo, will he be in the book? Will it be the same or will he be changed to incorporate the new stuff of Lucha Hero?

  8. Re: Tell us about your Pulp game!

"A man is judged by the coolness of his enemies. I am hunted by both Ninjas and Pirates' date=' I suggest you flee while you still can"[/quote']

That's the funniest thing I've heard all week. Imagine that said by a two uzi-wielding Chuck Norris. The horror.......the horror......

  9. Re: Random Lucha update

    HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

    :celebrateI'm so happy. I can't wait.:celebrate

Since this thread was started by the man himself, I'd like to know if there'S gonna be a chapter about fighting in the ring, rule for pin, submission and about the importance of having the crowd behind you. Oh and how much damage a folded chair can do. Looks to me like a 8d6 HTH, penetrating, +2 stun x, since an average wrestler can receive three kick to the face and not bleed, but a single chair shot will put down even the toughest of them.

Any response (short of death threats and mommy-related insults) will be appreciated.

  10. Re: Tremors Hero

I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that Ray Greer' date=' one of the original hero games people, worked on the original Tremors movie.[/quote']

Pretty cool trivia fact, thanks for the help and tips everyone, I'll be posting a writeup of the screamers soon, and i'll follow that with the infamous ass-blaster. Also, as anyone tried to write Burt the Man Gummer ? I'm working on one of my own, but i'd like to see what other people think of the coolest paranoid antisocial paramilitary around (not counting myself of course).

  11. Has anyone ever thought of doing a Tremors game out there? I think it would make a pretty cool game. I know Susano have a great writeup of the graboid, but does anyone have a writeup for the screamers or the ass-blasters? The screamers seems pretty basic, but how do you do the ass-blaster...well... ass-blast? A combination of leaping with gliding? And what about the fact that they explode when poke with a hot stick? I'd appreciate some help with that...

feel free to add your favorite Burt Gummer quote in your response (if you don't know who Burt Gummer is, don't bother answering this one :)) here's two of my favorite:

    ''Does anyone have a light?

    -Burt does.

Burt: I do you know that?

    -Well...you're Burt.

Burt, getting his good ol' zippo out of his pocket: You're damn right i am.''

''Well if it looks like a ghost, and acts like a ghost...

Burt: What we're dealing with here is obviously some diabolical water-absorbing agent that most likely had its genesis in our very own, long abandoned, government-supported secret biotech laboratory. For god sake be rational''

  12. Re: Wrestling HERO

I would think that a pin should be simulated with the normal grabbing rules. Look over them and see what I mean.

Well yeah, I tought about that, but my problem is more with the count. I mean, 3 segments? Let's say you build someone like Yokozuna, a big mean man with uber-defense and body, but only 2 in speed. Now let's say a speedster use a hold action in phase 5 and by some combination of good strategy and sheer luck manage to knock out the Big Man. In phase 6 he grabs (pins) him. At the end of phase 6, the Big Man can recover, but won't be able to act again until phase 12 (unless you consider breaking a pin a defensive action, wich is making a lot of sense now that I think about it).

I just think that using 3 segments=3 secondes will not help give the numerous pins and last second break out. Maybe a 1 count = 2 secondes would be a good alternative. Let me know what you think.

As for your John Cena, nice job, really cool. It's very similar to my wrestler prototypes. They're home brewed with just a pinch of rip-off. I'll post one if you're interested.

  13. Re: Wrestling HERO

I've been toying for years with the idea of doing a pro wrestling game, but I always get stuck with same problems: how to handle pins and the size problem with the ring (it's way too small) are the main. For the size issue, I could always use a miniscale (i.e. 1 normal hex= 1/2 ring hex). But for the pin, no idea.... I tough of a 12 segments count (4 segments= 1 seconde), just for the kick of having a lot of 2 count, but I feel that's not the best way to go. Does anyone have a system to handle this very specific situation? Or will I have to wait for Lucha Hero?

  14. Re: Post-Apocalyptic Hero

Don't worry about that. He sent them after me a couple of years ago' date=' and I haven't gotten around to sending them back. (They're really good at helping carry laundry.)[/quote']

The one I got has back problems, so he can't really help me with heavy load, but he's such a good listener....

(see, I learned how to the quote thing)

  15. Re: Post-Apocalyptic Hero

"Or write an article or for Digital Hero; you can get paid in Hero books, at half price."

I am so jealous of anyone who writes for HERO right now (you included).

P.S.: Didn't know how do the quote thing..... I'm hopeless

  16. Mad Max

Like I said before, I'm probably lacking in thread etiquette, so I don't know if it's in bad taste to link to the site of an active user (one who is a pretty big PA fan, as far as I can tell), but hey, if in fact it's wrong to do it, Susano will probably have me kill before you read this post. So, I'm mean, I'm a dead man, so what do I care what you thinks about may computer-manners.
