  1. Re: Need a little help with this one Could this be modeled as a limited form of Mental Illusion? This gives you the 'lock on' capabilities and you can use SFX to define how it looks. It doesn't however, provide darkness cover to the outside, which may not be what the OP intended
  2. Re: Does anyone have any idea why this is legal? Actually, having reviewed the rules and FAQs, I don't see any ruling that says that you must have UAA to grab and teleport someone unwillingly. The rules pertaining to UAA are the following: 1) If the character wants to Teleport others without going along himself, he must buy UAA 2) If the Teleporter is grabbed, he may only bring along the grabber if he has UAA There is no mention of how it is to be treated if a teleporter grabs someone else. It seems that it could be used in the same way as Flight, Leaping or SS. Any why not? I don't see any reason why it is unbalanced vis-a-vis the other movement powers, which allow you to do similar things. I think only EDM jumps as the power that should require a stated exception because it would otherwise be way too easy to abuse. [EDIT] Oops, I noticed the small sentence under the "Increased Mass" heading. Involuntary Teleporting requires UAA. Please disregard the entirety of what I wrote :-).
  3. Re: Does anyone have any idea why this is legal? Would that then imply that anytime someone has an increased mass on their teleport (not even talking EDM), they could take an npc for a ride after a grab? I suppose that makes sense, since one doesn't have to buy fly-usable-as-attack to pick up someone and drop them. My view is it could be abused, and should be watched carefully. On the other hand, it could allow for some interesting plot devices --- "remember when you went into the dimension? Well something followed you back out!"
  4. Re: Does anyone have any idea why this is legal? I don't think he could drag someone unwillingly unless he buys the "usable as attack", or am I mistaken? As it's set up, it should only affect willing participants.
  5. Hi Steve, I've read earlier postings here that indicated that as per P230 in 5ER, Telekinesis can be used to wield weapons, and on an earlier posting the STR could be applied. Taking the question one step further, since TK is essentially STR at range, does this also mean that a HTH weapon can now be used at range using TK? Will the indirectness of TK still apply? For example, could our TK-empowered villain use his TK to maneuver a knife around to strike at the hero's back, or would this need to be purchased as a separate RKA with indirect advantages?
  6. Re: Telekinesis with Weapons, +STR? The SFX I had in mind was straight up TK. The character in question fights with a TK-augmented knife-fighting techniques, using TK to hit targets at range with the knives, perhaps using TK to hold a target in place then stick 'em with knives. I was only curious about whether one could apply +STR to a weapon wielded with TK as you would with a brick in melee.
  7. Re: Telekinesis with Weapons, +STR? Wow, I didn't think there would be this much gray area over my query. It sounsd as though going with an indirect RKA with special effects would be least controversial, but it seems unnecessary to spend for TK (because the character concept needs it), then build a workaround to handle the ranged attack with a weapon. If I wanted a non-lethal attack, say with a club, I'd have to purchase yet another attack to simulate the effect. Stretching would work as a workaround, but it isn't really the same and there are subtle differences. Perhaps I should submit it to Steve for an opinion?
  8. Can one apply Telekinesis as a +STR bonus for normal or killing attacks... at range? For example, if I have a character with Telekinesis who fights using knives, can she use her TK to "throw" the knives at an opponent with a damage bonus as if she had hit them in melee with a high strength? If the TK STR bonus applies, what is the maximum bonus allowed? Does the attack gain any of the indirect bonuses? I suspect that it may be easier to model this as an indirect killing attack than using TK, but I wanted to see if there were interpretations of the rules that would govern this.
  9. I had a concept that I wanted to construct, but couldn't quite figure out how to do it. The character can summon extra-dimensional tentacles to appear and entangle someone. Once entangled, the character can execute a transfer/drain against the held victim. The transfer is continuous until they break free of the tentacles. The entangle was pretty straightforward: An entangle attack w/ indirect (+3/4 any place, any direction), area effect (+1/2, one hex, accurate). The question is on the drains that occur after being entangled. Should this be done as a 'linked' attack to the first attack? Should it be a second attack w/ another attack roll? Is it also an indirect power? What is the limitation modifier since it the drain only works on someone caught by the tentacles?
  10. 5ER indicates that the Linked limitation may only occur on the "lesser" power. What if the greater power may not be triggered with out the lesser power, and vice versa? What if the lesser power is inconveniencing (2x end cost) and the hero has no control over activating it or not, if they want to activate the primary power?
