Re: THE ULTIMATE BASE -- What Do *You* Want To See?
Something I'd like to see (although this may have been mentioned before) is an example of a truly cosmic or grand base/locale. One is really all you'd probably want to show for maybe more galactic level settings. Possibly something like a meeting point between dimensions (for 'planeswalking' campaigns) or even an existential nexus. As to the latter a certain tower comes to mind

Re: Build A Kaiju
Here is Nebula Space Hunter M. Better known as Gigan
-
Re: Build A Kaiju
To be honest, I have been looking at some old Power Rangers episodes (Serpentera that I mentioned earlier is Lord Zed's Zord, it blew up the earth with a single blast from it's mouth). Also the arguments you've all made as to originality and the approach of this are pretty good. I'll take these under advisement. As a side note, I should have Gigan up pretty quick.

Re: Your character's theme music!
This is interesting. Here goes
Champions: Saviors
Blade Weaver (Boris Shaumaker)
Song: No Leaf Clover, Metallica (S&M Version)
Champions: UNITY Initiative
Paragon (Kevin Knight)
Song: Angels Among Us, Alabama (if you don't like this song, you *are* a villain)
Dark Champions/Star HERO: Zero Point
Zeke Tsuriki
Song: Shout, Tears For Fears
Iron Age Champions: Funk The World
The KILLernator- with a vengeance! (Russel Wargrave)
Song: Name of the Game, The Crystal Method (couldn't find a clean version sorry)

This is something I've been meaning to do for a while. After seeing an awesome Godzilla toy at my neighborhood Wal-Mart, (where I work) I got inspired to cook up a campaign based around kaijus and their interactions with the world. I haven't got it all planned out, but do have some of the ground work done (some alien invaders, task forces that try to stop them etc.). The problem lies in that I can't think of any good original ideas. The prime example of this is when it dawned on me that I spent 30 minutes on hero designer effectively making Rodan/Megaguires. So I leave this in the capable hands of the HERO Boards Community. The sky's the limit as to power. Well, except nothing that can face Serpentera *shudders*.

Re: Group Designed Anime HERO
This is sort of relevant to the subject, since it is about Hajime no Ippo. Well, in short, I don't think that the manga format of literature can really get much better than this is. It's ridiculously long. (Dragonball with Dragonball z included is 42 volumes long, Hajime no Ippo is 90+ and still ongoing) If i were to explain it in DC comic terms i would say that (assuming that closeness to the center of the universe means good) that Hajime no Ippo would be on Oa, while the next closest (Berserk) would be at the Source Wall two universes away, then it trickles down from there. It's level of quality is only matched by the disproportionate level of obscurity it has. That's just my opinion, though.

Re: Zodiac: Martial Artist Master Villain
I'm going to post up what I've got for him so far. Please note this is by no means a finalized version as *very* many things need to be taken away or even added to the sheet. What I need to know is if I post up the text of the sheet in the reply box it won't appear in code something, right?
-
Re: Zodiac: Martial Artist Master Villain
Thank you very much. I was thinking of having him be watched by the Celestial Bureaucracy mentioned in Chinese Myth. Good idea, or should I just Stick to UNTIL and PRIMUS? Maybe have them keep tabs on him so he doesn't disrupt the natural order of things (meaning kill important spirits left and right or something along those lines).

Re: Zodiac: Martial Artist Master Villain
Erm... *joking* but yeah I see what you mean. In the original concept I didn't see him as a villain that would use ranged weapons so missile deflection should be able to counter that. Although I still would like to know how you build those 'Zodiac-boosts' that only occur on certain years for the corresponding groups. Would it be an Aid or...?
-
Re: Zodiac: Martial Artist Master Villain
I just thought of some thing extremely munchkin for this guy: Differing modifier: Can be blocked, usable as an attack. I'll just put *that* in the reserves in case he ever fights Destroyer.
-
Re: Zodiac: Martial Artist Master Villain
That sounds like an excellent idea. The question I have is how would I build that sort of 'power-up'.
-
Re: Zodiac: Martial Artist Master Villain
One idea that popped into my head is some sort of 'immortality' factor for him. I guess this could be explained through his Ch'i making him very young and healthy, and him having enough of it to stop himself from dying. Anybody think this should be changed?
-
Re: Zodiac: Martial Artist Master Villain
I decided to give him a base of operations. The place is translated in English as 'Else-Heaven.' It's a small heaven-like dimension that he conquered. It used to be ruled by a dragon named Lian Feng until Zodiac killed him and made his Palace into his home. The other motive for this was to gain The Black Metal Blade from Chinese legend in the Dragon's hoard. This is getting fun.

Re: Zodiac: Martial Artist Master Villain
I'm sort of on the fence for his defenses. I'm debating to either give him a lot of skill levels or actual PD/ED etc. Anybody have an opinion on this?

Re: Zodiac: Martial Artist Master Villain
Ugh, Tyrannon character builds. Those are some painful memories in making them HDocs.
-
Re: Zodiac: Martial Artist Master Villain
Interesting. I didn't think of giving him those kind of followers, but it does sounds like a good idea. Something like having the leader's of the Factions then the subordinates package deals. I guess I should work in how he was connected to the Yengtao Temple if that fits his concept (though it undoubtedly does).

Thank you very much.

Re: Zodiac: Martial Artist Master Villain
Hmm, I think I remember this guy now. I recall a guy with a name like that who wants China to conquer the world or something. Does he have a write-up and if so which book?
-
I had an idea a while back that occurred to me when I was skimming through some sourcebooks. To my knowledge there is no 'master villain' that fills the martial arts niche. So, being adventurous, I took it upon myself to create one. What I've got so far is the concept of it. An impossibly aged (although young in appearance) Chinese Kung Fu master of the Zodiac style (a 'cosmic-chi' based style of all types) with power comparable to Mechanon. I've tried a lot of different ideas, but I've hit several road blocks in the construction and don't know how to proceed. If anybody has any tips as to how to make this guy any better It would be greatly appreciated.
The Hudson City Playlist
in Dark Champions
Posted
Recently I've been on a kick for a more atmospheric roleplaying environment for my group. It has come to my attention that having things like appropriate music would do wonders and help keep attention to the game if applied correctly. Using the setting book Hudson City, I've come to wonder what songs would be appropriate. So far, however, I have a playlist that has 109 songs (as of 9/10/2010) in it. If anybody has suggestions as to what music would be appropriate for what I would call quintessential Dark Champions (like God intended) I'm all ears. I'll be regularly posting additions to the list as I deem necessary. Any help would be heavily appreciated.
